So I've got cheap evening meals lined up for next week but snacks and lunches end up costing £££. It's going to be warm so don't want soup, any ideas? Ds eats so much. So far today he's had a bowl of cereal, a banana, a fruit pouch, some grapes and a packet of raisins. He's still saying he's hungry (I know that's a lot of sugar but we haven't got any other food in the house!).

Yep we love houmous and pitta (HR spits out carrot sticks). I suppose it's not too expensive either. He's just had two slices of cheese.

Oh god I'm sciencey too. Not tech but biology.

£10 up from returning coasters that had worn really badly in the 9 months I'd had them. They refunded cash for it & I paid with a voucher.

Years ago I'd have just thrown them out. I need silver ones to go with the kitchen now it's painted anyway. I had to fish them out of the bin to return them.

£7.29 on masking tape.

£1 on crisps so I could park in the co-op car park.

Collie I think we have loads of lurkers. Some people don't want to disclose details so they lurk for tips. As long as it helps them escape debt etc it's all good isn't it?. There's a very good debt thread in money matters run by Talkinpeace. She's fab.

Adora That must be so sore, worst time to do it too. It's not like you can just rest over the nex week is it?.

Spotty Will the budget affect your rent?.

SpottyTeacakes · 08/07/2015 14:43

£9 tesco.

Drs surgery tried to charge me £10 for signing a form for the council to say I need a needle collection. I told them where to stick it. I'll just have to put my needles in the bin Hmm (won't really).

Yes fluffy but they haven't given much info. We pay £500 for our two up two down house (very lucky) and the market rate is £900-£3500 pcm for a two bed round here. We will just have to wait and see I do think it's a ploy to get people to buy though.

Oh adora, get better soon, but hey when you get here it will be warm!! Grin
Spent £8 on a Thai red curry but got bought my drinks.

Tonight one of my bosses is taking me out for dinner. Yay!

Very tired at the moment. I think I need a holiday...

I think they will be weaning off the tax credits. I do agree with Cameron about the mad merry go round of money and if people were paid a living wage then there shouldn't be a need for such a thing.

SpottyTeacakes · 08/07/2015 14:59

I agree too NK. It's a shame it's going to take so long for the £9/hour to come in BUT what will then happen to the people already on £9? They won't be happy to be earning the same as shop workers etc if they're skilled. Who knows. I might just become a hippy and travel the country in a caravan Grin

Nsd. Just £4 regular football fee. 2 down of nsw.
Don't break your run collie. Get it next week as your end of nsw treat with all the money you are saving

sportinguista · 08/07/2015 16:34

Been away from thread for ages due to having a freak period of superbusyness. It seemed like every client I have has come out of the woodwork and want stuff plus several new ones. But it is good moneywise. From being on almost nothing wage wise at the start of the year I'm almost up to earning what I was in my last job.

It's been a quiet fortnight on the money front too as DH is on a course away so we've spent hardly anything just me and DS eating so trying to use stuff up mainly. Not quite NSD's but certainly LSD's.

Interesting about the living wage but obviously it doesn't affect me as self employed and I get to pay myself what I want per hour. I wonder what most employers are thinking as they have been having the high life just paying minimum until now. Will they actually pay it or not?

girliefriend · 08/07/2015 17:04

Spotty that doesn't sound right about the needle collection, can you ring the council directly?

Have been at work all day so not caught up properly on the budget, I think the tax credit system worked really well so am upset that they are trying to dismantle it. The whole point of them was to make you better off in work, if you are paying out more than you earn in childcare then you might as well claim benefits!

Nsd.

Not sure what to do for tea

SpottyTeacakes · 08/07/2015 17:31

We had pork loins, crushed potato and salad.

Where I work they don't charge. The council require a nurse signature and surgery stamp. Ffs I understand charging for medicals and letters etc but not this. I'm tempted to phone the practice manager Blush they don't charge for sick certificates (a government requirement to prove your medical condition) so why charge for this? (A government requirement to prove your medical condition). Dicks.

JamHoneyMarmite · 08/07/2015 17:49

A really stupid frugal fail yesterday (but I still love what I bought). Had been feeling a bit frazzled and a lot overwhelmed and was desperately trying to think of time/labour saving ideas. Remembered a friend has a lawn mowing robot thing. Genius, I thought, I'll order one. It will save me an hour a week. Did anyone else know they're 1-2 THOUSAND pounds???

I was in such a strop about them being completely out of my reach that I spent 15 pounds on a wheely bin sticker with a photo of a cow on it. Which
I love still, but did not at all need to buy!
