Sorry to hear about your mil adora. Will you be joining him soon back here?

£6.40 for Pilates class today. Aching but energised. Kids sleeping later and later. Argh.

Did dd's settling in to big school (reception) today. One of many activities. Doesn't help when working full time. The only consolation is that my boss wasn't around today, most of my colleagues have bogged off, so I can swan in and out as I like. Although I have big strategy to get through and get buy in. I have meeting with boss on Monday to say 'my way or the highway dude!!' Blush

Passthecake30 · 30/06/2015 22:10

glad MIL has improved adora

SO hot today. I have almost run out of washing.....but I still manage to fill the line every day in this sort of weather otherwise it seems like a waste! I'm probably wasting money on washing stuff that I'd stretch out for longer if it was winter though Blush

Payday today, £1.20 on a jacket spud. Last of the big spenders...

NK it doesn't get any easier, yesterday my dd asked me "why didn't you come to the maths workshop mummy, I had to do it with someone elses mum".....

Pointlessfan · 30/06/2015 22:12

Oh, lots to catch up on! Sorry you've had such a bad day Evil and sorry to hear about your MIL Adora.
Also hope Jam's tooth is feeling better.
Pleased Colliecat is well! My cat is actually too hot today, I didn't think cats could ever get too hot but he's sprawled on the floor looking fed up!
Spent a little bit today on a top up shop and ice cream. Grin
Should get blood test results tomorrow to see what's up with my knee.

Oh pass... I have an older son who's in year 2. Already been through that guilt. Hmm

AdoraBell · 30/06/2015 23:14

Will I be joining him?

That's where it gets a tad tricky. We are moving from here on July 9th but then DH has to come back because this house isn't yet sold and his business is still here. So myself and DDs will be getting on with life while we wait for him to join us permanently. Whenever that may be.

Re not being at every event the school organises, I've had other mums call and ask me to stand in for them when their work commitments don't allow them to be there. That way the DC knows that X's mum is going to watch them/look at their display and tell their mum how well they did.

Glad the Pilates is leaving you feeling energized NK. My teacher told me recently that the curve at the base of my spine has gone. I didn't know I had a curve at the base of my spine but I have noticed a major reduction in back pain.

SpottyTeacakes · 01/07/2015 05:54

Adora that all sounds so stressful.

We had a storm last night and then a power cut for three hours.

I've just checked our account and we're really overdrawn. We never usually go into our overdraft. I knew June was going to be expensive but I'm not sure how it got this bad. Will need to do June's expenditure later. Sad

No, it wasn't forecast. Ds decided he wanted a drink too, luckily I had the torch on my phone! I've moved our little amount of savings into the account but it's only half covered it.

I'm going to whisper this, and would never say it irl, but....I'm too hot already!

lilacclery · 01/07/2015 07:10

So sorry to hear about mothers & mother in laws & hayfevers & cystitis (((hugs))) to everyone.

I slept almost the full day yesterday & feel a bit better today. Going to take the 3 days off that doctor wrote cert for though, only my second time being off sick in 8 years at my work.

I'm contemplating buying some new nappies for ds, we cloth nappy I rarely purchase any for him & I predict he'll be another year in nappies so €40 over a year isn't much. Disposables would be that for a month. I could buy Velcro & fix up some older ones though. There will be resale value on them too. Writing this tells me I shouldn't purchase but I really want to.

I have just downloaded my bank statements for June to YNAB. Not too bad considering, main area for concern is my cash spending which I mostly don't analyse out. I try to use my debit card as much as possible so that I can analyse easily. I suspect the extra is at least in part due to extra cash to DS and extra cash spending by him when he goes to the local sainsburys to pick up extra bits.

I have booked 2 holidays for July, shopped around and selected dates to minimise costs. I have set myself a budget in YNAB for spending money but I'm not sure I have the discipline to stick to it.

June was a spendy month with the children needing clothes, holidays, and annoying extras like having to get my computer fixed and printer ink! I didn't spend too much on myself - a top in the white stuff sale this week (I don't have a lot of clothes), a haircut (first in six months).

I will have to try to make some frugal choices with the kids in July, even though we will be on holiday for half of it. August should be cheaper as the kids will be away for half of it with their dad, I want to do some nice things for myself while they are away but at minimal cost - could be a good money saving month.

I still haven't sent back my tax credits form, but I need to do my tax return first. Will get stuck in to that today as I can't afford to lose anything. Will report back when done.

lilacclery · 01/07/2015 11:00

pavonia thanks for the reminder about tax return. I'm off work sick until Fri but feeling somewhat better, might make a stab at tax return tomorrow.

SpottyTeacakes · 01/07/2015 11:22

Just got my car insurance renewal. £250. Have had a quick look and I don't think I'm going to get it much cheaper. The few that are cheaper charge a higher APR so work out more expensive.

Pavonia · 01/07/2015 11:30

spottyteacakes I'm envious, my insurance is more than double that. I stayed with the same insurer after split with exDP as I hadn't had insurance in my own name in years. Maybe I should look into other providers when it comes around again.

SpottyTeacakes · 01/07/2015 11:34

Definitely shop about. I've got 9 years no claims but also have a 3 year restricted licence. That quote is for me with dh as a named driver. My renewal last year was loads so I changed.

Fluffycloudland77 · 01/07/2015 13:25

Could one of your parents/pil be a second named driver? spotty.

Dhs cover was £15 cheaper for parking on the drive not road.

Adora, everything's cheaper in home bargains and pound land here ime. The mysupermarket app will be your friend while you adapt to living here again. I hope they discharge your mil soon. What an awful time to have to dash back to the UK.

I am so sorry about your mil need, you must love her very much to do that for her.

diggerdigsdogs · 01/07/2015 13:38

is it OK to join? I'm feeling anxious and sick about money again.

can't post more just now on awful mobile but just wanted to check it was OK to join. Smile

Fluffycloudland77 · 01/07/2015 13:41

Everyone is welcome here Digger.

SpottyTeacakes · 01/07/2015 13:53

Welcome diggerSmile

Fluffy I tried that last year and it didn't make it cheaper.

Peppapissinpig · 01/07/2015 13:55

Welcome Digger Grin
Spotty you've reminded me to review my car insurance and I can get a cheaper quote with Sheila's Wheels by about £40 pa. Is it worth moving?
Current premium is £220

Fluffycloudland77 · 01/07/2015 13:59

Oh dear. You'll have to take the pain.

Got my refund cheque from the car tax, £25 rebate.

Fluffycloudland77 · 01/07/2015 14:09

Peppa

Topcashback are offering £36.75 cash back on Sheila's wheels.

Talkinpeace on the debt thread always advises using an incognito browser on chrome or Firefox to do a quote so they can't see your cookies. Apparently it can affect a quote. She knows her stuff (she makes the rest of us look profligate) so I tend to follow her advice. Also works for plane tickets!.

Putting in our driving licence numbers bought our quote down by a few quid. Car insurance is so arbitrary it really winds me up to pay a lot for it.

Peppapissinpig · 01/07/2015 14:12

Thanks Fluffy ????, that's clinched it!

Peppapissinpig · 01/07/2015 14:20

Fluffy doesdeleting cookies/browsing history do the same thing? (Not very techy)
