That sounds great Jam, wish I could sew

babsmam · 27/06/2015 14:57

7 at skate park

JamHoneyMarmite · 27/06/2015 15:27

Taught myself by trial tantrum and error! I mostly enjoy it as long as I'm not sewing against a deadline. I in no way finished DD's dress for a wedding about thirty seconds before we got in the car to drive there, oh no... Grin

Passthecake30 · 27/06/2015 15:43

Thanks for the holiday toiletries feedback. ..seems that I am not alone! Im going to take lots of suntan as I really don't want to scrimp with it or use something we're not use to (excema/sun sensitive) and aim for smaller shampoos etc that we can get more out there (majorca) if we need to. I'll stop at nurofen, diarolyte, plasters, sting cream and immodiun for meds.

£15 sainsburys, £21 swimming lesson, £40 petrol. Off to dps parents to eat their food- that's frugal, right? Wink

girliefriend · 27/06/2015 17:37

Spendy day in the end.

£15 horse riding lesson
£45 filled the car with petrol
£36 on new shorts and top for me (much needed for the summer)
£1 parking
£2.40 ice creams
£1.60 on snacks for dd

I think I will get that camera as well, will try and do through cashback.

Have come back to a kitchen full of ants - ugh Sad have stuck some poison stuff down but obviously not ideal in the kitchen and get a bit worried about the cats getting near it. Every summer they come in - fecking hate ants!!

Peppapissinpig · 27/06/2015 18:11

Well managed to survive stage 1 of DS' birthday celebrations. Pizza Hut party - done! And only £60 for 7 boys so not too bad at all.

Now for the scary sleepover part Confused. At least the weather is lovely and their currently outside playing football.

Fluffycloudland77 · 27/06/2015 20:06

Good luck Peppa.

pass dh scoffed at my haul of essentials on our first holiday but we used most of it. I took ready mixed G&T too.

£25 on two box trees for the pots out the front, it's massively improved the kerb appeal so I am happy and £6 on bread and beer.

Ugh, ants! We get them every year too girlie those flying buggers every August. I usually spend a day patrolling with the vacuum cleaner!
I wish I could sew too but I'm too impatient. My mum suggested buying a few things from the charity shop to practise on which is a good idea but I don't know where to start with sewing really.
Had a lovely time at the cinema. We booked online and ordered our popcorn online too which made it slightly cheaper and meant we didn't pick up all kinds of crap while we were in the queue. Plus we took our own drinks!
Going out for pub lunch today.

PeoniesforMissAnnersley · 28/06/2015 06:47

We got a puppy!!!! He is coming home with us on Tuesday Grin he's a chocolate brown miniature dachshund and I am already smitten with him Grin There will be lots of pics

SpottyTeacakes · 28/06/2015 07:23

Ah I love puppies! No puppies for us though as dh has decided we can try for dc3Shock

I'm sitting in our hotel in Canary Wharf. It's the same hotel we had for my hen do and I love it. If I win the lottery I'll buy an apartment here Grin

Yesterday was fairly spends but dh paid. Bloody hotel holds £150 for damage etc. annoying.

Peppapissinpig · 28/06/2015 07:54

Cute Peonies... My mum has a standard long haired dachshund, she is very cute and people always smile when they see her Smile

girlie I had a Canon Ixus a few years ago and was very happy with it.
Friday was payday for me too but the last few days have been spendy. MoT on Friday & service was £400 & Aldi shop yesterday was £80 but that's only once every 3-4 weeks.
need I know exactly what you mean about your life being expensive, I feel the same.

Peppapissinpig · 28/06/2015 08:57

Well just about survived sleepover but now counting down to 10.30 when the little angels can go home!

DS got quite a bit of cash gifts and I have been looking Into opening his own little savings account with passbook. We don't live near a town so went to check out Post Office options. Was Angry to discover you can only open an instant access a/c using a branch with a minimum of £500 deposit! How is that encouraging children to save??

needastrongone · 28/06/2015 09:21

Glad it's not just me then north Smile

peppa In this day and age, that's ridiculous. What's you other options? It's a pain being rural sometimes isn't it? Feel the same if I have a cheque to bank. It's surprising how quickly small savings mount up though. We used to put just a tenner a month away for the DC as that's all we could manage at the time, which we increased as they became teenagers. Add in birthday moneys and the have £2.5k each now, small savings mounting up over years.

collie Young DC can be quite isolating can't they? What about NCT?

Shakes thinking about the puppy stage Grin

Today will be petrol for sure as the car is empty. Aldi have clematis for sale for £5.99, might get two as we have a lot of bare trellis in the garden.

And DD's team qualified for HOYS (horse of the year show) this year as they won their competition yesterday, which is fab and brilliant, but will no doubt be expensive too, but I think they have to fund raise.

And going to see a new pony later, budgeted for from the ever shrinking dividend.

I also need to look at high interest savings accounts as I use most of my ISA allowance saving the tax part of said dividend, not payable until January each year.

Peppapissinpig · 28/06/2015 09:47

Yes Need, it can be a total pain sometimes. There is also a tiny Lloyds branch here but you have to have a current account with them to open a savings one Confused

For ease I may just open the DCs a PO a/c and transfer £500 from their 'proper' saving but tell them that part isn't theirs to touch.

As their savings buildup I can transfer the money back.

I just really want them to start understanding money management and taking responsibility for their own savings.

Pointlessfan · 28/06/2015 10:08

That's exciting Need I often go to HOYS, it would be fantastic to be involved in it.
Looking forward to puppy pics MissA.
Cat has just been sick, second time this week. We're a bit worried about him, he's nearly 14.

babsmam · 28/06/2015 13:11

Puppy ah cute.
Can you transfer the money to open the account then move it back out leaving just his own savings. Bit of a faff but will keep the money right. Or do you have to maintain the 500 balance?
Expensive life- I'm right with you.

£14 swimming for the 4 of us.
£13 in sainsbury as dd wants to bake.
That will be it today. Bake, craft, mooch to the allotment is our afternoon today

babsmam · 28/06/2015 13:12

Collie sorry you feel so isolated. X

SpottyTeacakes · 28/06/2015 13:46

Collie sorry you feel like that. We're pretty rural (bus once a week I thinkGrin) and I've found it hard to make new friends.

girliefriend · 28/06/2015 14:26

spends today so far

£5.30 on hot choc, tea and cake at coffee shop
£9 in getting into a butterfly house, dd loves butterflies so was money well spent!
£27 in Lidls.

Used a voucher my dad had got us this morning, it was meant to be a bird of prey experience and cream tea for both if us but we somehow got booked onto the wrong thing so didn't get the cream tea will look back through emails to see whose fault it was. Pretty sure it wasn't mine, if so wouldn't be unreasonable to ask for some money back right?

Fluffycloudland77 · 28/06/2015 14:35

If it's their mistake then yes complain.
