Happy birthday fuzzpig.
Today should be low spend, church this morning, ds has a football match this afternoon and then we're going to my cousin's for mulled wine and mince pies as her dd is going to S Africa for a few months.
Made some Christmas cards with dd yesterday. Need to write lists today as I've got Tuesday off work and plan to buy any remaining presents.

Passthecake30 · 07/12/2014 10:23

fuzz, an amazing umbrella? ??

£5 on tip at dps dads 70th, his mum insisted on payingSmile

Been reading the thread about how much people spend on their kids at xmas...am now getting the twitch, must resist!

Happy birthday fuzzpig

Lovely MissA re the Secret Santa.

Been quite a low spending weekend. No shopping. Just a take out Saturday evening instead of going out.

My new dilemma is this. DS hasn't asked for anything for Christmas, he is very low maintenance. So, we have bought him a 4x4 driving day experience. He's 15.

Yesterday, he announces he would really like a Nintendo Wii U, a controller and a couple of games. The driving experience was £100 and main pressie. The bundle he wants will be circa £200.

The problem is that DD has a pony. The pony costs a flipping fortune, really truly a flipping fortune. If you added up the cost of the horse box and insurance and farrrer, dentist, livery, competition, diesel tack etc, easily £300 per month. We don't begrudge it, she is amazingly committed, that and school work takes up all her time, she's knackered half the time!! It also takes up huge portions of our time too.

DH is of the opinion that DS, who 'costs' very little in terms of time and money, should have his console, even if it's £250 we hadn't considered spending.

Put it like that, it's a no brainer really isn't it? Smile

Try that and see if you get an undelivered mail response.

Or write to their headoffice.

girliefriend · 07/12/2014 16:28

Happy Birthday Fuzz!

£300 a month for the pony Shock that will be why my dd hasn't got one then Wink needa I can see why you are annoyed though your ds has left it quite late to put in a request like that.... I think it is hard though if you feel you are spending a lot more on one one and not the other.

So another NSD that means a NS wend! My dad turned and his wife turned up today so had to do a lunch for them which now means my fridge is pretty cleared out but hoping to eek out what we have til wed and do a big shop.

CremeEggThief · 07/12/2014 17:37

NSD- second one this week Smile.

needastrongone · 07/12/2014 17:41

Aaargh - visitors always turn up when you have nothing much in I find girlie

The pony is the reason I am on this thread Grin

But hard to begrudge it DD was out all day with DH and pony yesterday training, then still back down to her by 10am today, to ride. She's done homework all afternoon. She's 13, but learning some amazing life lessons about hard work and commitment. And they share a lovely bond.

DS needs a rocket up his arse sometimes Grin

574ejones · 07/12/2014 18:08

LSD today - bought some thread, a length of plastic tablecloth for underneath the tree and some shoelaces. The tree is up, and we were treated to a delicious Sunday lunch by my lovely Dad.

fuzzpig · 07/12/2014 18:42

For some reason I misread your post and had an image of the shoelaces being tied round the Christmas tree!

My father just gave me a €500 cheque for Christmas, I'm spending it towards 3 tonne wood pellets. We also got bulk delivery until recently when we bought single tonne deliveries which are more expensive & haven't been flowing smoothly either.

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/12/2014 18:57

£10 bottle of sherry.

Happy birthday fuzz! Sorry I've not had time to catch up.
Thanks to all who understood my frustrations with dh and mot etc. Grr.

His parents descended over the weekend and I made gammon egg chips for Friday dinner and roast chicken dinner for Saturday (except we ate really late as we went to watch paddington 3.30 show). Very spendy weekend...
Saturday - £22.80 for 6 cinema tickets (there's a really cheap cinema about 20-30 min drive away and it's really good)
£25 for Elsa dolls (soft ones yay rather than the Barbie style)
Will return the Barbie style one

Today in town paid £8 for visit with Santa, gave dh some money for parking, £9 for McDonald's, £21 at Lakeland for dh's present and some stuff for kids. £8 at primark for a frozen dress for dd. £6 at m&s for last minute presents.

Just realised I have a few more to get. Hope to do that tomorrow evening on my way back from London where I've got a whole day meeting.

Sixforgold · 07/12/2014 20:16

Around 40 on a family meal out today. I've just cobbled together some stuff for lunches tomorrow andfound a pack of sausages in the freezer for tomorrow dinner so can hold off food shopping til Tuesday. One week into Spendy December and feel like its under control.

sportinguista · 08/12/2014 05:57

Happy Birthday Fuzz hope you have a great day!

Meant to have an NSD yesterday but should be LSD today as just need a tub of creme fraiche and some baguette which I'll walk to Aldi for. Other than that staying in dying my hair and prepping for an interview. Just need a pressie for DH and my S and BIL other than that I'm done for this year. DH and I are doing very frugal for ourselves but we may get some cash from FIL which will make things a little easier.

This is the first Christmas since our first together where we've not had much but it still is as good or better than many previously. It's one of the first where I've not been so rushed off my feet and stressed I've ended up ill!

Should be a low spend/no spend week as apart from interview I've not got a huge amount to do... apart from DS's nativity play on FRiday which I'm really looking forward to. Smile
