Spotty Lots of people still seem to believe that it's cheaper to use electricity at night. It used to be but very rarely is these days. May be she is just trying to be frugal? Anyway you could politely tell her that it's keeping you awake and if that doesn't stop her you could also go armed with these facts www.theguardian.com/money/2014/jan/11/kitchen-flames-domestic-appliances which changed my habits.

I've signed up to the Quidco bonus scheme. I doubt I'll do enough shopping to hit £50 but I think I'll make £25.

I've spent loads recently but most of it has come out of Christmas pot so budgeted for and turns out dh is getting a small bonus this month which will clear our over spending . As usual money is spent before we even have it.

fluffy don't think we didn't notice your spends, but we'll let you off this once Grin.

574 Congratulations on the job.

SpottyTeacakes · 08/11/2014 07:23

Unfortunately she's just a bit odd. Said washing has been out on the line since before we got up despite the fact that it's raining HmmGrin

Fluffycloudland77 · 08/11/2014 07:25
Grin

I wanted a coat I liked, my current ones a Musto & i hate it, but I only bought it because I was chilly on holiday down south. Literally 5 minutes after buying it a seagull pooed ALL over it. Dh pissed himself laughing.

So hopefully this one will be stylish & warm and have no guano memories.

I think the neighbours trying to use cheap rate leccy, if you're all electric you might have it. It must be a very loud machine or she's not levelled it properly.

Solasum · 08/11/2014 07:30

Hearmyroar my mum buys a lot of jewellery on eBay. I think unless you have documentation saying exactly what stones/metal etc your ring is, you might end up with it selling very cheaply. You would probably be better off going to a jeweller, try and pick one who has similar style jewellery. Bear in mind that if it has been valued at £1000, that is the replacement value buying retail, so you would probably not be offered anywhere near that :( Another option would be selling via a local auction house, ideally one that has specialised jewellery sales. This might be your best bet actually, as the charges may well be lower than eBay, and they will know the best way to market your ring.

SpottyTeacakes · 08/11/2014 07:58

Yep we are all electric so do get off peak rates. Our houses aren't sound proof at all and put bedroom is next door up one to their kitchen (if that makes sense?!) you can hear their daughter coughing at night for example.

NK5BM3 · 08/11/2014 13:19

£30 on tennis lessons and t shirt for ds. Did bank £50 cheque from evening standard as I won their sudoku crossword!! Grin It was such a fluke, one of the days I was in London and picked up a crossword. Texted the answers in and then got a text a week or so later saying I'd won. Thought it was one of those spam texts!!

£4.70 on a foot long hot dog.

574ejones · 08/11/2014 15:58

NK5 Congrats on your win! That hot dog sounds epic!

Fluffy I am sure your coat counts as an investment and at least you know it's good quality!

I have had a spendy day catching up on buying Christmas presents. I am hoping to have finished them by the end of November so In December I can just relax and enjoy the festivities.

SpottyTeacakes · 08/11/2014 16:07

Nsd.

Dp spent but he got quite a hefty lump of cash from his boss so he treated us to lunch.

PeoniesforMissAnnersley · 08/11/2014 16:15

Not an NSD as had to buy those meal replacement milkshake things which are SO expensive Shock I got them online, hopefully they'll be here by Monday or Tuesday.
DH went out for speakers and came back with a device to wash the windows with Grin as long as he actually washes the windows, I'm not going to complain too much!

RobinEllacott · 08/11/2014 17:09

NSD here. But yesterday was dreadful: £250 for gas and electricity, plus £102 in the supermarket for the week (though that included a T-shirt for DD and food for guests for lunch today). Hoping for a NSD tomorrow too.

OhForFoxSakeYourPullingMyChain · 08/11/2014 17:13

LSD - traded a cold and costly Fireworks display locally for a trip around the charity shops and lots of cake baking, So its still a win!
£4.00 charity shops - 2 pound per kid
£1.00 Parking
£2.00 Jam and hot Choc Powder for baking!

not bad, def nsd tom, husbands paying! lol...

Fluffycloudland77 · 08/11/2014 17:20

NSD because the crackers I bought are on quidco for free. I'm saving them for Christmas cheese boards so they are well hidden.

SpottyTeacakes · 08/11/2014 17:29

We were supposed to go to fireworks this evening but the heavy rain and weather warning has put us off Sad

You should ask PigletJohn in property/good housekeeping how to deal with mould. He's very knowledgeable on that sort of thing.

Singmetosleepzzz · 08/11/2014 22:06

Hi all, 21 in Waitrose and 53 on grocery delivery today. All food and lunches for a week hopefully.

OhForFoxSakeYourPullingMyChain · 08/11/2014 22:19

collie - sorry just read your post
the damp paint is Brilliant, it is a HUGE tin, I was really mardy paying for it but it has done the job, last year I had to re-paint every 6 weeks, but this I reckon should solve it. Cannot recommend it enough!
JOHNSTONES DAMP PROOF PAINT, go get some! HTH x

girliefriend · 08/11/2014 22:20

Pretty much a NSD as been at work all day, had to pay for parking at a hospital clinic, for 2 hours it was £3.40 Shock think charges like that are a disgrace Angry but as it was for work can claim it back.

My mum obv felt bit sorry for me and bought dd a new pair of school shoes, I have probably been moaning about being skint too much!

lilacclery · 08/11/2014 22:33

Reading here I feel in good company, had a spendy day but I only go to the shops once per week.
Paid for swimming lessons, gave money in a card for christening, did the weekly shop & bought a cake & platter of cupcakes for ds 1st birthday tomo.

Passthecake30 · 08/11/2014 22:59

Spendy day yesterday sorting out food for the in laws today and dds small party tomorrow. ...thou party is nice and frugal, 4 girls coming to our house. Going to be a cheap meals for a couple of days after that, have half a chicken and half a gammon left over from today and I guess party food left over tomorrow.

Got my professional membership subscription through of £211, it comes every year and needs paying by end of December, terrible timing!

Have agreed that I'll do xmas dinner here so going to start stocking up when I see good deals, might start with booze as that costs the most.

CoolCadbury · 08/11/2014 23:57

I had a total of 5 consecutive NSDs! Today, I spent £20 on a beauty appt. And £21 at Waitrose for various meats to batch cook tomorrow.

fuzzpig · 09/11/2014 07:29

NSD yesterday, my first this month. DH spent some but I'm focusing on me first :o

Sixforgold · 09/11/2014 08:13

A lot of spending yesterday....

£25 haircut
£2.50 play gym
£9.86 wrapping paper and two presents in Aldi
£9.44 pudding and wine to take to Sunday lunch today
£4.02 groceries
£22.44 B&M bargains random food!
£11.05 McDonald's
£165 mum's bday present (it's for a big birthday and will get half of this back from my brother)

I do wonder whether I gave myself free reign as I saved all of my spending for one day?!

Anyway, I think most of my Christmas shopping is done! Including birthday presents for dd's friend's parties between now and new year! I started wrapping and labelling last night. I want to be all done by December 1st.

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 09/11/2014 11:17

I spent a bit much on my sisters bday but had a brilliant time. couldn't not take her clubbing for her 18th Grin

Friday total spend £55
Saturday £29 dd bday present - stupidily expensive minion fart blaster but DH gave me a game of his to sell and put towards cost.
today - going to buy the party bags and cake pop sticks off eBay should b about £10

next week should be mostly nsd or lsd Grin

I have however calculated all the money up to end of Jan and if I stay on budget should have £643 saved. I have included days out planned, lets hope I can stick to it! Grin
