NSD for me put poor dh went to the dentist and they pulled a tooth out there and then as it was so bad, so we will have to pay for that. Also he can't eat hot food today so now my meal plan is all of a wobble. I think he might just have to manage on some cold curry Confused

Good news though, I finally got around to doing a meter reading a few days ago and realised they had drastically over estimated out electricity bill. I have no idea what they thought we did all day to use it all up. Anyway, I am due a £183 rebate! Yay! Little happy dances all round :o

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 06/11/2014 15:50

Fluffycloudland77 · 06/11/2014 16:11

HearMyRoar I hope they lowered your DD too.

NSD for me.

574ejones · 06/11/2014 16:41

LSD for me £4 on magazine (rare treat) and £1.75 on coffee. The best news is that I have been offered a job! Hooray!

Welcome to all newbies!

Sixforgold · 06/11/2014 16:45

Well done jones! I think that a magazine and coffee is a very frugal treat for that good news!

My spend day breakdown - £56.63 petrol, £2.50 card, £1.29 lunch, £1.37 fruit, £1.54 sanitary stuff. £63.33 altogether.

Hoping for another NSD tomorrow to keep on target for 15.

Congratulations jones! You definitely deserve a coffee and magazine to celebrate.

Yes Fluffy they have dropped it by over £16 a month. A profitable day :)

I have celebrated by phoning a man to come and sort out a cat flap for our back door. It is double glazed so will cost almost £300! Argh! However, the cats are currently squeezing through an open air vent, which is getting a bit small for them and letting in a god awful freezing draft. It is our big agreed, budgeted spend of the month and our first bit of proper work by an actual tradesman in our new house (I feel all grown up).

Fluffycloudland77 · 06/11/2014 17:30

What type of door is it? We popped the panel out & replaced it with a solid white upvc panel that dh cut a hole in etc.

I think it was £30 for the panel. Things we do for cats eh? Ours has a cat flap in the back gate, no jumping off a 6" gate for my boy.

HearMyRoar · 06/11/2014 17:39

It has full length glass in it so they have to make us a whole new unit with a hole in. It's in the living room so we want to keep the glass as it lets so much natural light into the room and makes it seem much bigger then it is. We have been putting it off for months trying to figure out a cheaper solution but have decided we just have to bite the bullet and get it done.

Love the cat flat in the back gate. One of ours hates jumping over things, he would definitely approve :o

Passthecake30 · 06/11/2014 18:12

Well done Jones!!

£2 in the poundshop- raffle tickets as a reward for ds for getting a swimming badge (he wanted raffle tickets or a Ipad lol) and 5 kids toothbrushes to put away while they're in stock

That reminds me I must submit my online meter reading, hopefully a rebate for me too due to a mild start of autumn? ?

needastrongone · 06/11/2014 18:25

LSD - just some flowers and a card for a friend whose birthday I always forget!!

Good idea about the Card Factory, I think there is one reasonably close. Or near enough to at least go once and stock up for a few months.

Lol at hear celebrating with a new cat flap Smile

collie - I made parkin!! Smells great, we haven't eaten any yet as it's just come out of the oven.

jones great news about the job, hooray Smile

Spends

£1.99 quiz pack on Bonza - my current favourite game! That is already accounted for in my 'pocket money' though.
£4.10 bus pass for me
£40 anniversary lunch with my DH of 6 years (well as of Saturday but he's working then)

And here's where it went wrong - I suggested going into town after school as DCs needed gloves.
£8 gloves x3 (me and DCs) not actually that keen on mine but £2 can't be sniffed at really
£3 after school snack in whsmiths
£6.58 Burger King for DCs instead of dinner at home as a bus was cancelled and there was ages to wait! Angry
£4.30 jacket potato/drink in food court which I fancied but then realised I wasn't actually that hungry for.
£3.30 DCs' bus fares

Total: £69.28 again not including the pocket money spends as that's accounted for.

So, lesson learned - no matter how good an idea it seems and even though it means getting away from nightmare neighbours for a bit going into town after school is NOT a good plan!

OTOH I just got an email from giffgaff - because I set my DH and both DSDs up on giffgaff (so we can all contact each other free) I have 1500 payback points, which I can get as PayPal balance! So will have £15 going in mid December :o

Fluffycloudland77 · 06/11/2014 19:05

Jones That's fantastic news, when do you start?

fuzzpig · 06/11/2014 19:09

Congratulations Jones! :o

lilacclery · 06/11/2014 19:15

Congrats 574 that didnt take long!!
What's parkin' ?

Really wanted a burger last from chip shop instead I'd waffles fried eggs and slice fried ham law night & took mince out of freezer to make taco fries tonight. Frugal & yummy

girliefriend · 06/11/2014 19:21

Woo Hoo NSD Smile

PeoniesforMissAnnersley · 06/11/2014 19:39

Congratulations jones you definitely deserve a coffee after that!

NSD today.

I felt a bit better and tried to eat lunch - big mistake Sad ended up having to come home and go to bed for 2 hours as pain was so bad. At least I'm seeing the specialist tomorrow, I just hope she is proactive and willing to run tests as soon as possible, I can't believe this is still going on from April.

RobinEllacott · 06/11/2014 20:13

NSD here - hurrah! Tomorrow will be horrible, though: man coming to fix doors (unknown sum depending on how long it takes), plus I've got to pay the gas and electricity bills.

I need to make parkin now. We have guests coming on Saturday so that can be my excuse!

HearMyRoar (great name, by the way), the charity shops round here are a bit rubbish - full of polyester and beige. I need to get my act together to go and look at some in a smarter area.

574ejones · 06/11/2014 20:33

Thanks everyone, assuming references are okay, I should start end of next week. It's been just over two months since I was working but has seemed a lifetime! Great that so many have had NSDs today.

AuditAngel · 06/11/2014 21:23

£18 in Tescos, but that included £5 for woolly tights for DD1 for school and £4 for some ladies tights for DD1 to wear for dress rehearsals so I don't risk wrecking her proper dance tights!

Other than that, a sandwich for tea, crisps, drinks and lots of chocolates!

Got cash out but forgot to pay £10 for an extra dance uniform t- shirt for DD1.

TheOnlyMrsW · 06/11/2014 21:29

Spends so far for the week are £10 in Home Bargains on some under bed storage boxes (new house has far less space but is much warmer and has a garden! ), £44 Asda shop today which DH collected. So far he has painted the bathroom and has 2 interviews next week so fingers crossed something comes of those.

MissA hope you find out something helpful tomorrow, you sound so brave.
574jones congrats on the job
collie agree with your DH, that recruitment person sounds dreadful.

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 06/11/2014 23:24

im not even going to say how much ive spent last 2 days but it was ALOT Sad

however have loads of food, finished dd's birthday presents and got most of the bits for the party (except food and a few odd bits roughly another £20ish to pay out)
got my sisters birthday present,
got enough toiletries to last till Christmas (except nappies and wipes - need to top up in about 2 weeks)
also near enough finished Christmas shopping. just need to stop looking on the bargain thread Grin

tomorrow going out for my sister's birthday hopefully won't spend more than £25 other than that no spends, weekend haven't got much planned so hopefully nsd or very lsd.

Mojito100 · 06/11/2014 23:30

NSD yesterday so that is three for the week. I am aiming for one more to make it four.

AdoraBell · 07/11/2014 01:50

Well done Jones Congratulations.

Would have been an NSD, if I hadn't bought lot's of chocolate and a packet of crispsBlush £4.
