I have been buying this for years and suddenly occured to me just how much I love it and how little it costs!

Tesco everyday value hair gel 15p! It's not too sticky, nice smell and fits in my hall table drawer :)

What do you love that costs very little?

Lots of sainsburys basics, but I especially like their orange marmalade for 27p. And their own brand strawberry 'cornettos' are lovely, 4 for £1.
Aldis magnum washing up liquid is brilliant value.

chocolatecheesecake · 07/10/2014 21:23

Sainsburys basics dark chocolate.

Sainsburys basics smoked salmon trimmings. Pasta, risotto, sandwiches - anything where having nice slices doesn't matter.

Aldi mayonnaise is great

Lindy2 · 07/10/2014 21:52

Tesco value tea bags are great. I really like them and when I've made visitors a brew I've had several people say that its a nice cup of tea and what brand is it. I was a bit embarrassed at first to be caught using the cheap as you can get type but now I don't really care.

lidl do some great anti bacterial wipes huge packet £1.79 great for swishing round the basin or toilet areas. Tesco value chocolate mousses are great too. Lidl shower cream in apricot bottle smells divine and is really creamy I think it's around 79p and lasts ages. Lidl canyon biscuits are just like Rockys if not nicer for half the price. Strawberry crisp cereal very nice for a weekend treat 99p and full of strawberry pieces.

TheSpottedZebra · 07/10/2014 22:16

Ooh the Waitrose Essentials hand wash - clementine and ginger. Actually that whole body care essentials range smells great - the pink grapefruit and something shower gel, and the black pepper and something ones are nice too. 99p each I think.

MorrisZapp · 07/10/2014 22:19

All the big supermarkets do six packs of basics crisps for about 50p. They are ace, and just the right size for a little snack.

MorrisZapp · 07/10/2014 22:20

Oh and asda decaf earl grey tea. It's literally a quarter of the price of Twinings. Their decaf ordinary tea is superb too.

FishRabbit · 07/10/2014 22:28

Loving this thread. I'm going to have to go on a shopping spree tomorrow to all these shops!

FullOfChoc · 08/10/2014 22:26

I got the tesco value cream cleaner, 30p. It did as good a job as my usual product, which is £5 from Lakeland!

Itsfab · 11/10/2014 17:11

* for you all

bellasuewow · 11/10/2014 18:46

Another one for sainsbury's value tea bags at 20p, also like their basics flour and chocolate for baking. Asda sensitive washing powder smells lovely and is a fiver for a massive box. Asda gold roast coffee lovely rich taste and cheap compared with others. Sainsbury value eggs 15 for 2.40. Sainsbury's own baked beans. Another one also for waitrose 4 soaps for £1 big bar of old fashioned creamy scented soap that lasts. I love cheap thrills....

SpidersDontWashTheirHands · 13/10/2014 16:58

Sainsburys Basics and Tesco Value hummus are yummier than their standard ones

I agree, I think it's because they don't ruin it with loads of tahini. Basics pitta bread is great, has a short date but can be frozen.

Not exactly basics but Sainbos own brand of cream of tomato soup is much nicer than Heinz; it actually tastes of tomato and isn't too sweet.

(marking place here, as this looks like a really useful thread)

gemdrop84 · 13/10/2014 17:57

I tried Aldi's roast chicken and mushroom soup the other night, wasn't expecting much, it is divine!! Best tinned soup I've tasted....ever!

Fluffycloudland77 · 13/10/2014 17:59

gem Shush, aldis getting too busy. The soup was "meh" wasn't it Wink

Bassetfeet · 13/10/2014 18:15

Anyone who has a Herons store nearby? Maybe just up north .
Look for X-Sell products in the freezer section. Marksies rejects to be found that look absolutely fine . Haddock in breadcrumbs for £1.50 for 4 fillets .huge thick cod fillets for same price . Chicken nuggets from proper breast meat .
Loving it .....each week has different stock and all quality food .

beachywaves · 13/10/2014 18:16

Another one for Lidl jaffa cakes. I do not like jaffa cakes. I only buy them for my son as I know I will not be tempted by them. I bought some in Lidl the other week and had a chocolate emergency and was desperate and ate one, and then another. They are soooo good.

annabanana19 · 13/10/2014 19:01

Tesco value corn flakes 31p. Kids love them.

ClashCityRocker · 13/10/2014 19:56

Tescos tomato purée, 40p. Not too sweet like some are.

Also, those batter mixes for pancakes or yorkies for 7p. I don't think I could make yorkie mix for that price.

I love the value yoghurts as well.

lem73 · 13/10/2014 21:04

I've never found a brand that does a better job than Asda dishwasher tablets. Can't remember the price. I'd love to know if anyone can recommend any supermarket own brand laundry detergents.

gemdrop84 · 14/10/2014 10:10

Oops yes, I retract the above statement, it was bloody awful Grin

scattercushion · 14/10/2014 10:18

Redpriestandmozart Excellent thread - makes me mourn living in a little town with crap choice of supermarkets. Can I be nosy and ask what your hairstyle is? I've never got to grips with gel, it just made my hair stick together in clumps.
