I have been buying this for years and suddenly occured to me just how much I love it and how little it costs!

Tesco everyday value hair gel 15p! It's not too sticky, nice smell and fits in my hall table drawer :)

What do you love that costs very little?

Asda smart price chocolate Swiss ro

I definitely don't eat a whole one to myself. In one day.....

Cupcakes123 · 05/10/2014 18:48

Swiss ROLL

I don't know what a Swiss ro is Confused

Cupcakes123 · 05/10/2014 18:50

(But id probably eat it if it had chocolate in Smile)

squiggleirl · 05/10/2014 18:54

Maryz, it's mad the differences. I know before Tesco were claiming that rents were higher here, but when the show looked at it, the rent was only 14% higher in Ireland than in the UK, yet we often paid 2-3 times the price of what the same items were on sale for in the UK - depressing really. I can't imagine ever walking into Tesco and seeing something for sale for 20cent!

digger123 · 05/10/2014 19:00

Aldi goats cheese & spinach pizza and sweet chill chicken pizza - £2 & £1.50 each - loads of topping!

JLucky · 05/10/2014 20:55

Squiggleirl that is crazy. I bet the rents can't be much higher than here, in London.

Snatchoo · 05/10/2014 21:00

Well, DH got me a double walled ceramic coffee mug from Tesco the other day.

49p.

Not exactly a recurring purchase but I love it all the same!

I always buy Boots pink curl creme. I love it. Best with some Home Bargains argan oil serum mixed in though.

BearFeet · 05/10/2014 21:03

We love tescos value Jaffa cakes too and value dishwasher tabs.

ouryve · 05/10/2014 21:06

DH likes sainsburys basics cornflakes.
I like the 40p tins of brown chickpeas that Sainsburys stores with a world foods section sell.
And what's not to like about their loose bananas? 4 decent size ones came to all of 48p, the other day, and they're fairtrade. It only costs the supermarkets pennies more per kilo, so the fact that other supermarkets make fairtrade bananas into a pre-packed premium product really pees me off. They're fleecing consumers who think that farmers should be fairly recompensed for their produce.

Itsfab · 06/10/2014 12:00

Funny you saying that ouryve. In the paper the other day a man had bought a bag of bananas marked at £1 but when he put them on the self service scales they came in at 54p!

Holdthepage · 06/10/2014 20:07

Asda smart price tins of mushy peas 16p with no artificial ingredients, they taste great too.

Haroldplaystheharmonica · 06/10/2014 20:27

This will probably out me as I go on about them so much but Lidl jaffa cakes are just fantastic! I will never go back to McVities Shock

borisgudanov · 07/10/2014 01:12

Aldi dauphinoise potatoes or fried potatoes with bacon, 89p. Wiener Schnitzel, £1.80.

Gatekeeper · 07/10/2014 05:07

I think Lidl jaffa cakes are a lot nicer than 'proper' ones

also an Asda smart price Mushy pea fan

upandawayy · 07/10/2014 05:23

Love this thread. Tesco value orange juice is my contribution, it's the one that isn't fresh. Probably doesn't have any oranges in it but it's really nice

BUNMUM · 07/10/2014 06:13

Sainsburys basic tortilla chips, 50p for 200g bag. Not too salty, just right in our opinion! Also basic cashews, approx. 1.49 for 200g bag, lovely.

MackerelOfFact · 07/10/2014 07:32

Sainsburys Basics and Tesco Value hummus are yummier than their standard ones.

Tesco Value cottage cheese is inexplicably lower in calories than their 'healthy' range one. And tastes the same.

Iceland Italian stonebaked pizzas are £1.50 and nicer than the Pizza Express ones you pay a fiver for in Sainsburys etc.

Sparklypants · 07/10/2014 16:37

Lidl luxury butter fudge - £1.29 and it's bloody lovely!

I used to buy some like it for over a fiver a pack and this is nicer.

Sparklypants · 07/10/2014 16:39

mackerel I get the Iceland stonebaked pizzas too. The piri piri chicken one is lovely.

babybat · 07/10/2014 16:45

Lidl crusty rye bread from the bakery counter - 99p and far nicer than most of the 'artisan' bread I've bought. YY to their milk chocolate as well.

Waitrose sardines with chili or lemon and olive oil (in the fancy painted cans) - 89p, so not cheap cheap, but still cheaper than tuna and far tastier. Also their essential soaps - the cinnamon ones and the citrus ones are lovely and a quid for 4.

Sainsbury's own brand cinnamon shreddies. Why don't more cereals come in cinnamon flavour?

stupidlybroody · 07/10/2014 17:15

Alberto balsam shampoo and conditioner. Always seems to be a quid in Morrison's and the blueberry one leaves my hair than any of the big expensive brands. And it smells divine.

BitterAndOnlySlightlyTwisted · 07/10/2014 17:52

Asda Smart Price soap. Three 125g bars for 35 pence.

ProfYaffle · 07/10/2014 18:05

Tesco value tortilla chips. Perfect for cheesy nachos because they're not smothered with flavouring like Doritos. Every time I buy them the check out operator almost always whispers in conspiratol tones "these are the best tortilla chips!" Grin

Sparklypants · 07/10/2014 18:40

The asda value tortilla chips are lovely too. They're about 50p for a large pack.

HalfSpamHalfBrisket · 07/10/2014 18:50

Tesco carton of chopped tomatoes with olives. About 55p, just lob in a bit of marigold bouillon and its a great base tomato sauce.
