Thought I'd do the honours Smile

With kids back at school and autumn weather drawing in we all need a very sensible September. I'm putting up my thermal curtains and refusing to put on the heating until October. Who's in?

CoolCadbury · 16/09/2014 17:30

Can anyone tell me how the NHS pre-payment certificate works? I am thinking of getting one for 3 months but I am unsure whether it can be backdated? Is there anything I need to do when I actually hand the prescription over?

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 16/09/2014 17:39

I'd have a NSD tomorrow, however, I'll be paying about £5 for parking for an appointment. These £5 here and £5 there really add up! Hmm

SpottyTeacakes · 16/09/2014 17:43

Cool you get a little card like a credit card. You can't back date it I don't think. I'm exempt though so not 100% sure.

574ejones · 16/09/2014 18:07

You can't backdate I don't think. It is cheaper still to get a 12 month PPC which can be paid by DD over 10 months £104.10. So if you need more than one prescription a month, you will save. Ask the pharmacist though - they may be able to give you a special receipt to claim against it. I have just renewed mine today.

ItalianWiking84 · 16/09/2014 18:28

Thanks for the explanation fluffy Smile

oneofthosedays · 16/09/2014 19:09

Fairly low spending this week so far. Monday just over £21.50 eBay purchase but PayPal balance covered most of it so actual spend £6. Today £10 deposit on works Xmas do and 50p for a snack at DD's dance class.

Struggling to eek the petrol out til pay day on friday despite working from an office closer to home more than usual this week. Got a small food shop to do tomorrow and hoping to spend less than £15. Also got to buy a birthday pressie for a family member which will be £10 but already budgeted for it.

SpottyTeacakes · 16/09/2014 19:16

Fucking parcelforce ffs Angry

Taytocrisps · 16/09/2014 19:20

Yes. I'm so stressed and busy and having to spend £50+ on school shoes for dd but parcelforce were supposed to deliver today. They tried but didn't even leave a card. We live in the middle of nowhere and everyone else just leaves parcels on the door step! I paid extra for next day delivery and now I've got one more thing I have to sort out on top of everything else just because they're shit.

I'm going through ridiculous amounts of petrol because the council are so shit they have missed dd off their bus pass list so I'm having to drive her every day despite three phone calls and an email I haven't heard anything back. I've got a stupid course starting tomorrow (9:30-12:30 have to do school run 8:40 and collect at 1) 40 minutes away at the hospital so more petrol plus parking and that's once a week for four weeks but I have to do it if I want an insulin pump.

I just have so much to do that I want to give it all up and stay in bed for the next month Sad

Sorry for super me me me rant it's just one thing after the other. Plus our car still isn't fixed Angry

Taytocrisps · 16/09/2014 20:12

Sorry you're having a bad day Spotty. Or bad week even. Hugs!

DH just informed me that he needs a new wheel for his car. That's what I get for being smug!

Iamnotanugget · 16/09/2014 20:29

Sorry you're having a rough time spotty. Have Wine. Feel free to rant away, that's what we're here for.

ohhelp our water was like that where we used to live. We found putting it in the fridge made it drinkable but eventually we got a water filter. Not that frugal bur possibly cheaper than bottled water.

£8.65 on more nappies, gripe water and coffee. Quidco have sent me an email saying they're about to pay me £3.03. It all helps.

furcoatbigknickers · 16/09/2014 21:03

Thanks for fluffy, i'll try that. I usually buy fairy or the like, thinking it will wash betterConfused

AuditAngel · 16/09/2014 21:43

Hello, £9 lunch and bits from Tesco, £23 in M&S for not very much but needed to collect DS's ordered trousers (which don't fit so need to go back) and hadn't defrosted anything for dinner. Included 2 pies, one for tomorrow and one for freezer, some gam, hot cross buns, anniversary card.

Fluffycloudland77 · 16/09/2014 21:44

The powder dissolves quickly so it gets to work straightaway, I chuck a dessert spoon of it onto the floor of the dw and everything comes out clean.

We use cups several times so I decant tesco sp bleach into a spray bottle & spray the insides before they go into the machine because we like our tea strong and it really stains the cups.

I won't use fairy or finish et al because they still test on animals & I don't agree with it.

chocolatedonut · 16/09/2014 21:52

Thank you fluffy for the links will have a look later when I'm in bed Grin. Spent £15 today on a tin of formula, washing up liquid, toilet paper and flowers.

Tomorrow, Thursday and Friday should be NSD.

AdoraBell · 16/09/2014 21:53

I forgot yesterday £40 for 3 second hand dancing costumes that we needed for DD1, cheaper than buying new, but at least one needs remaking as they are changing it and the previous ones will be too small.

SpottyTeacakes · 17/09/2014 06:32

Thanks everyone. I feel better after going to bed stupidly early. Last night I felt a bit jittery and just had a horrible nervous feeling in my chest (that hasn't completely gone). Parking is going to cost me £1.60 an hour today and they don't take cards! Other than that should be nsd.
