Thought I'd do the honours Smile

With kids back at school and autumn weather drawing in we all need a very sensible September. I'm putting up my thermal curtains and refusing to put on the heating until October. Who's in?

Fluffy thanks for the tip re dw powder. We are now running out of finish (we've not had a dw for long, and all the dw powder were from previous purchases, and friend who sold their dw to us).

Spotty - sorry to hear about your unpleasant week ahead...we've had those days/weeks. I had a massive rant at work at about 7pm last night and ended up emailing my boss at about 10pm. He thankfully replied quickly and we are meeting tomorrow and Thursday. I hope to sort things out soon.

Spent £2.30 on hot choc yesterday.

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/09/2014 07:35

You're welcome Nk, I can't claim it as my own idea, another mumsnetter put me onto it years ago, but it's very effective.

The only time things don't get clean is when I run out of salt Hmm, I've found that makes more difference than the brand of detergent.

I hope you sort the work issue out.

spotty, that jittery feeling sounds like anxiety to me.

Badvoc123 · 17/09/2014 08:01

I have 2 pairs of jeans.
They are nice (next) and cost £45 new.
I got bleach on one pair yesterday :( :(
Can't afford new ones but found a pair on e bay for £15!! :)
Hurrah!

PeoniesforMissAnnersley · 17/09/2014 09:15

Hey all. Have been discharged despite very abnormal CT as my acute symptoms settled (as they did the last FIVE times since April) and am on outpatient list for urgent MRI. Have got to the end of my tether with being fobbed off by NHS because I am young and female. Have asked if I can have MRI on work private med scheme, but hate having to do this. What if I didn't have it??? It is so unfair. Angry

Nsd hopefully! I was supposed to meet a friend for coffee but im shattered. Going to take ds for a swim at the gym i go to ... Free

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/09/2014 09:42

MissA, take the private care if you can. It makes a place for someone with no private healthcare.

Decant away, he won't notice.

FantaSea · 17/09/2014 09:58

spotty oh dear, you poor thing, that feeling in your chest sounds like anxiety to me, it will go away but it is a horrible feeling Wine

MissA I would ask for the MRI on the work scheme if you can, at least then you are being sorted out sooner. I really hope someone can help you soon Flowers

fluffy I might try the daisy powder, I had always resisted as I thought it would clog up the tablet holder thing but I hadn't thought of throwing it on the floor, I will try that Smile I also find that even with expensive tablets, if the salt has run out, it doesn't clean properly.

£8 in asda on essentials

Badvoc123 · 17/09/2014 09:58

Missa...I am covered for tests under bupa with Dhs work scheme.
I have used it quite a bit when the NHS have failed me.
Do it.
No, it's not fair, but you have the opportunity so use it x

needastrongone · 17/09/2014 12:25

spotty - glad you are feeling better. Does sound like anxiety. Might be worth speaking to the GP. I was prescribed beta-blockers for similar. I have actually only used them a handful of times, but they can be useful.

missA - definitely ask for the MRI on the work scheme if available. Assume that you pay the taxable benefit for the arrangement, so why not use it? I have just had a consultant appointment, MRI and follow up, all in the space of 2 weeks. No point being in pain if you don't have to be.

Great links there, thank you.

Internet and broadband down at home so this is a quick post. I'll catch up tomorrow when BT hopefully fix the fault.

ItalianWiking84 · 17/09/2014 12:54

Nsd Grin

SpottyTeacakes · 17/09/2014 13:54

Oh really? I'd feel a bit embarrassed to go to the gp with something like that Blush

MissA poor you I hope you can get it privately it really is horrible if you feel you're not being listened to.

Got a parking ticket at the hospital. Nice nan let me off when I showed him the (£4) ticket screwed up in my handbag Blush

CoolCadbury · 17/09/2014 14:36

Yes missa sorry that you have been messed about by the NHS. I find that you have to be so assertive these days to get anything like a referral or a scan but it's at a time when you are feeling the most vulnerable and have the least energy to be assertive. Poor you. If I was you, I would go through your work health scheme. I wish right now that I was in one myself.

spotty what is embarrassing about having panic/anxiety attacks?

Spent £29.10 for 3 months pre-payment prescription thingy today and got 4 different meds so already quids in. Also bought £7.99 present for DS's friend's birthday present. I had totally forgotten about having to pay the service charge for where we live so that's another £220 but YNAB saved the day as I had already budget for it and not remembered.

SpottyTeacakes · 17/09/2014 15:10

Oh nothing cool I mean the symptoms, as if I was making a mountain out of a molehill kind of thing

Sixforgold · 17/09/2014 17:09

Oh spotty Brew and Cake for you. Anxiety is awful as it's such a lurker - you need to properly acknowledge it before it will subside. I often find even saying out loud to DH 'I've got a really anxious feeling in my chest' helps so much so I hope coming on here and verbalising your anxiousness has helped.

Speaking of DH...we've had a bit of a financial tiff! The usual story - he wants us to go away for (an admittedly wonderful) weekend of walking, dinner, pub etc with his family. I want us to stay at home and not spend any money Grin. I offered a compromise of just going for one night but DH has his heart set on two (it's also the weekend of his birthday so I suppose he has the right to celebrate Wink ) I've worked really hard this year to save up an emergency fund and a Christmas fund and currently have £400 sitting in a separate pot for our MOT on 1st October. I end up feeling boring and tight-fisted because the money is there, I just have it ear-marked for different things. Even if the MOT comes in at a fraction of the above my new mind-set is 'keep it in the car-envelope for next year's tax' whereas DH thinks 'yeah! party!' I think il pay for our second night myself as part of his birthday gift which is fine and I'm happy to do that. I think the main crux of the problem is this is another example of our differing attitudes to financial planning!

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/09/2014 17:45

I think I'd say the second night is his whole bday present because the meals out wont be cheap.

£16 on vaping stuff for dh. I found the kit he needs on mn so it had better be good.

furcoatbigknickers · 17/09/2014 19:11

I seem to spend my life doing top up shops... £24 today and £4.50 on swimming certificates.

listsandbudgets · 17/09/2014 20:19

£1.75 on cheese salad baguette, crisps and can for lunch. Bargain really but can't believe I failed to take my lunch again. Not that surprising since I dont think I got more than about 3 hours sleep over all last night just couldn't sleep

Passthecake30 · 17/09/2014 20:23

mrsA and spotty hope things look up for you soon

Didn't get the local job....they were looking for specific experience that I didn't have (and the application form and the first round if interviews highlighted this so why bother putting me to final stage? )

For dw tablets I have a bix of 100 finish tablets that were on offer in asda £10 (usually £20, £12 atm I think). I use half a tablet. ...saving the ball side for dirtier days. So 200 washes for £10, not bad. Thou will look into tescos if bunny friendly.

£44 on asda shop tonight, only really needed bananas and milk but thought going tescos would cost me more as I'd buy rubbish. Think I might try and do a £40 shop every 5 days or so....I have a delivery pass.

girliefriend · 17/09/2014 22:41

£2.40 on a school dinner for dd.

£2 on the school disco for dd.

Am sure school discos used to be 20p in my day Wink

Tax credits tonight Grin

Kitten has pulled her stitches out Sad got a feeling that will be an expensive trip to the vets tomos....

Mojito100 · 18/09/2014 00:14

LSD yesterday. Petrol in car which is weekly occurrence and other than that trying to be frugal due to huge spend in Tuesday.

babsmam · 18/09/2014 06:30

NSD tues.
Yesterday was shaping up be a NSD but got a phone call from school they were sending dd to a and e so £3 on parking. Dd is fine though.
NSD today.
Those of you who have lots of NSD do you find you spend more on other days. I think I will hang on getting what I want but not sure I save as end up spending it eventually.
Suppose it stops the impulse buys and you can assess do I really need it or just want.
Sorry thinking aloud.

SpottyTeacakes · 18/09/2014 06:35

Had to buy calpol and ibuprofen yesterday as ds is ill. Had to rush him to the drs but he's fine. School bus is sorted, apparently even though they have to start school at 4 they can't get the bus until they're 5 Hmm luckily the bus driver lived next door to dd's teacher and has agreed to take her when she's ready.

Ds won't let me put him down so not sure how I'm going to get showered this morning!

Should be nsd unless I go and get a spray tan (unlikely) as it's my hen do this weekend.

confusedandemployed · 18/09/2014 08:38

Spent 3.50 on 8 pints of milk and some dog treats yesterday.

Today was going to be an NSD, but my friend just texted to say she had a little girl this morning, so I'll have to get a pressie and a card (don't begrudge this obviously, it's lovely news and I'm a little bit weepy that it's not me with the shiny new baby).

SpottyTeacakes · 18/09/2014 09:10

Ds and I just stood outside waiting for the bin lorry and every single one of the men on in waved at him Smile
