Hello All,
I've taken the liberty (again!) of starting our new thread for August. The merrily sort of ties in with Christmas and keeping an eye on any bargains out there, if you're super organised and like planning ahead.

Today's spends were £5.10 on travel, £1.20 on 2 bottles of water, £4.20 on 2 hot chocolates and £17.25 on a meal out (long story!).

Congratulations six! I'm getting married in November. My cheapy wedding is costing my dad over £2000. I feel a bit yuck spending that much tbh. As my dad says he's just paying for everyone to have a nice meal Smile which it will be as food is the most important bit for us Grin

PeoniesforMissAnnersley · 21/08/2014 08:49

I might get paid tomorrow - am supposed to get paid on Monday, but it's a bank holiday, and they usually pay on the previous working day which would be either Friday or Saturday. I'm not too sure if they pay on Saturdays or not.
It would be good as I could clear CC (I use and clear every month and get vouchers), give DH some money towards debt and generally sort things out a bit sooner.

FantaSea · 21/08/2014 12:19

sixforgold and Spotty congratulations to both of you Flowers

Fluffycloudland77 · 21/08/2014 14:07

Congratulations sixforgold Smile

I looked for the voucher too re Morrison's as I use them for my home delivery service. No luck.

I get paid tomorrow too peonies but it will be a long month the following month!

spotty I know £2k is a lot of money, but I know what you mean, it's a pittance for a wedding, in context.

Granola recipe is appealing adora

Spending today has been on the pony ride and I withdrew some cash, which I had holiday budgeted for.

Fluffycloudland77 · 21/08/2014 16:48

£3.79 aldi

PeoniesforMissAnnersley · 21/08/2014 16:50

needa I'm fooling myself that I won't notice what with being back at work! Grin tbf when I am working I can easily rack up 3-4 NSDs most weeks and then go mad at the weekend ahem.

AdoraBell · 21/08/2014 16:57

Re the granola, I forgot to mention one minor detail.

Don't let it cool in the baking tray or dish. Sticks like bloody concrete, I'm currently trying to shovel remnants off so I can use my dish againBlush

Crongratulasions Six Thanks

Today will not be an NSD, forgot a few things yesterday.

disneymum3 · 21/08/2014 17:08

May I join you lovely ladies please.
Have been lurking for a few month, and have decided to jump on in, what with Christmas fast approaching. I would like to be more frugal and save more money.
Will come back on later to report on spending.

FantaSea · 21/08/2014 17:20

misstiredbuthappy · 21/08/2014 17:51

bantamgirl · 21/08/2014 19:24

Evening all

I missed posting yesterday as I couldn't be bothered to check internet banking!

Wednesday & Thursday spends
£0.50 - raffle at SW. I had a countdown so didn't have to pay for class but it's run out now.
£10.00 - in a card for my friend's son's 3rd birthday
£1.00 - 2L bottle of pepsi Max from Tesco
£1.00 - 2 x 500ml bottles of pepsi max from Poundshop
£1.00 - bonus ball at work (been there 6 months, played every week, haven't won yet)
£239 - MOT - of course, this went on the credit card.

£10 - in my friend's birthday card (August/September are busy birthday months for me)

My £400 grocery bill (higher than normal to accommodate expensive SW friendly food) is at £116.80 after just one week, but at least £60 of that was on meat and the freezer is choc-a-block.

Frugal things
Gawd, I cannot think of anything!

  1. Went to Tesco today and bought a 2 litre bottle of pepsi for a pound instead of 2 x 500ml bottles, like I had done on Wednesday.
  2. Dried a load of washing on the airer yesterday (But DH went and dried today's load in the drier - bless him).
  3. Only bought 1 strip of raffle tickets at SW instead of 2, saving 50p (woo)

Congratulations Six Wine Flowers
My wedding was very, very cheap! I didn't want a fuss as I hate being the centre of attention. We opted for a registry office wedding. FIL paid for a nice meal out for everyone (only a few were invited). I bought a cheap outfit (£50). That is all it cost us...£50 Smile
We paid a big deposit off our first house. It paid off as we moved up to a larger house that is close to being paid off in full Smile.
Mind you, our 'honeymoon' later the same year...a trip to West USA (including Disney, Universal, Yosemite, Grand Canyon, San Fran) cost £7K!

Supermum222 · 21/08/2014 19:29

Spent very little today as it was a work day. Bought a twix and a cup of tea...£1.65

SpottyTeacakes · 21/08/2014 19:29

Congratulations six, what fabulous news! Any idea when the big day will be?

fluffy did you buy one last time? I'm tempted but they seem expensive to use.

Hello disney all frugaleers are welcome here.

Been out all day with dc, friends and a packed lunch. Spent £8.04 including travel. Everyone had a good day. Most of our days out have been cheap but fun and although I'll miss dd when she's back at school I'm looking forward to returning to only spending £2 on playgroup most days.

ItalianWiking84 · 21/08/2014 22:36

Congrates ladies :) I am getting married next year, planning to have a joined baptism and wedding, because it would be the same ppl attending anyway :)

CoolCadbury Thank you :) Cant wait to be back, even with freezing cold winters and high tax, I am still sooooo homesick... As my DP said "Your comfort zone is your family and thats where you would be happy and if your happy I am happy and thats my comfort zone" I truly have the best man

disneymum3 · 21/08/2014 23:46

Spent a grand total of 90p today on a jar of Bolognese sauce

Fluffycloudland77 · 22/08/2014 06:52
