Vaccine or not?

vaccineornot · 01/04/2025 19:46

I’m not sure if it’s possible to have a rational conversation about it but I’ll post!
I’ve had vaccines, missed my last as I was unwell and couldn’t rebook in time

I am doubting myself massively about whether I should have more or not
My doctor and consultant say basically “duh, yes, why wouldn’t you”

Social media seems to be (before anyone tells me not to listen, it’s every single person I see) that it’s a scam, a con, the vaccines don’t do anything, the more I have the higher the risk and the push NOT to have it is so strong that I’m thinking am I wrong to have it?
I just can’t seem to work out if I’m more at risk from Covid (which people are saying is a load of shit anyway) or more at risk from the vaccine (which everyone is saying is dangerous to health)

NC as I don’t want people thinking I’m an idiot for questioning myself

That’s such a misguided decision, OP. You should listen to your doctors, not to the conspiracy theorists on MN. I had mine this morning and since I like not being dead or in hospital, I am 100% certain it was the right choice.

Remember, every risk the vaccine has is also a risk of having Covid, and higher with having Covid. The antivaxxers lie to you.

Oh hang on you called me manipulative for simply stating I haven’t had any further vaccines, but your comment isn’t??

@verysmellyjelly

genuine question.
Do you really believe that without the injection you may end up hospitalized or dead/
You really think that?
It's actually quite sad that people were so taken in and frightened by the fearmongering campaign that they are still in that mindset.
Have a look at actual real world data and hopefully you can get out of this mindset as it must be pretty stressful for you.

vaccineornot · 05/04/2025 16:37

I haven’t decided I’m 100% not going to have it but I’ve cancelled for now, and I’m going to go away and read proper researched studies and email my consultant
im not 87 but I don’t have a functioning immune system and im high risk for sepsis

7m people died across the world of Covid - of course it’s serious.

Your consultant or GP are definitely the people to speak to - not to antivaxxers on an internet site.

How exactly is it manipulative to say someone should listen to their own doctors over antivaxxers online?

Sorry, I prefer to listen to my qualified doctors and the data, not to antivaxxers.

I was interested to hear of the financial incentives GPs have to give out the vaccines.

DH is a GP and his practice administered the Covid vaccine as they do other vaccines. Initially they were paid around £10 per vaccine - the amount has now reduced. Home visits are still £10. Most of the payment to the practice went on additional cleaning materials, PPE and the majority of additional wage bill costs to nurses and doctors. Hardly huge profit margins.

Because people weren’t mixing.

And how was it manipulative to say I personally decided not to have any further vaccinations buts it’s ok for you to say you have and that’s not manipulative?
I really think the statement of ‘I like to not be dead or in hospital’ was far more manipulative than mine but that’s ok apparently as it’s your opinion..

Because you, an antivaxxer on the internet, definitely know more about my risk level than my doctors. You know everything that has caused me to be hospitalised in the past and everything going on with my body.

….yeah I think I’m going to keep going with science.

nope, it was more than that.
I'll try and dig out the figurs but I think it was about £34 ( or possibly £24/) per injection

I have no idea what you’re on about here, but whatever. I think I’m allowed to say I like not being dead or in hospital when that is the positive impact of having the vaccine.

Covid and the flu - totally different viruses and Covid unfortunately was much more highly transmissible with the potential to be a more serious infection.

You appear to think I am lying about being a high risk patient. How strange and goady. I can’t imagine why you would keep making posts like this tbh. Maybe you just aren’t familiar with some people actually having severe medical conditions and having to juggle these, and being at risk of major, life threatening complications (even from much milder conditions than Covid). I suggest you read up on this topic.

You literally posted it at the start of thread in response to my comment.
You can say whatever you like on a public forum that’s exactly the point however, you don’t seem to appreciate that others are allowed to post opposing views deeming it ‘manipulating the OP’.
p.s people without the vaccine aren’t all in hospital or dead either hope that helps

Are you a GP in receipt of vaccination payments? - DH has just confirmed that is what his practice received.

right, so you don't think you'll die without it; you're just trying to manipulate people.
