COVID vaccine? Does it do anything?

Greybottle · 09/12/2024 13:45

I jumped at getting the COVID vaccines when they came out and I got all the vaccines that I was eligible for to date except for this year.

I got COVID in the summer time and I wasn't able to get the vaccine this winter. My GP recommended a 4 month wait.

It's just I got COVID twice. Once in 2022 and I had that bad too. I wasn't hospitalised but still I was ill with fever, body aches, headaches and coughs for over a week. I was rushed back to work prepaturely when I still wasn't 100% better.

I got COVID this summer too. I was floored with it.

A lot of people were floored with it this summer. Even though we got the COVID vaccines.

It's just I got a reminder text to book the vaccine today and I just don't know.

I am not anti vaccine but what is the point of the vaccine when youre still going to get exposed and become ill to this anyways?

I got flu in 2004 or 2005 and I was getting flu vaccine because of my work from about 2008 and I never had flue since 04/05. The flu vaccine works. But I am questioning the COVID vaccine? What is the point of going out of my way to travel to an establishment to get jabbed and sore for a few days and if I am exposed to COVID, I am likely still going to get it.

yes, worldwide hysteria fuelled by MSM.
So why is MSM a good thing again?

Yes. Exactly. Information from Russell Brand et al is SO much more reliable than that from the MSM, doctors, epidemiologists and scientists. But only certain, special people are smart enough to know that.

The rest of us sheeple are far too easily led and manipulated by data and expertise (and possibly the microchips) and will someday have to bow down to those whose superior intellect (and access to dodgy social media) has allowed them to 'make their own decisions'.

So just so I'm clear, you're anti covid vax, but not a conspiracy theorist.

But you also believe Doctors were putting Covid on DC's even when it wasn't the most likely cause of death or linked to the death. That sounds an awful lot like a conspiracy.

yes, that pretty much sums it up.
If you read the extract earlier in the thread it clearly states that no formal diagnosis was need to put covid as COD.
Why that would be I have no idea so I'm afraid it's a pretty unformed con theory which kind of goes against con theories!
Actually, what annoys me about guessing to put covid on DCerts is that it seems very anti science when other tools are available for confirmation.
Why do you think there was no need to have the diagnosis confirmed with a readily available tool?

why do people keep going on about sheeple? not a word myself nor any of my friends have used.
And mentioning microchips just makes you sound a bit dense, sorry

I know, why don't you randomly say "Bill Gates" that seems to be a weird obsession with some people.

you know, this is really weird and I can't understand how I've overlooked it, but I don't appear to have the figures for post registration death certificate amendments at hand.
I'm sure google will help you

an ‘I don’t know’ would have sufficed. As you’re the one bringing it up I don’t think it was unreasonable to ask the question to you.

Give me strength!!! They don’t guess at what to put on the death certificates. They follow guidelines and use a variety of methods and skills to determine what to include.

There is nothing anti science about it.

JohnPrescottsPyjamas · 11/12/2024 15:42

Another reminder.

This is from the U.K. government Guidance for doctors completing medical certificates of cause of death in England and Wales in 2020.

“Medical practitioners are required to certify causes of death “to the best of their knowledge and belief”. Without diagnostic proof, if appropriate and to avoid delay, medical practitioners can circle ‘2’ in the MCCD (“information from post-mortem may be available later”) or tick Box B on the reverse of the MCCD for ante-mortem investigations. For example, if before death the patient had symptoms typical of COVID- 19 infection, but the test result has not been received, it would be satisfactory to give ‘COVID-19’ as the cause of death, tick Box B and then share the test result when it becomes available. In the circumstances of there being no swab, it is satisfactory to apply clinical judgement”

End of life symptoms, for example broncho pneumonia which is mentioned on the majority of death certificates, would be very similar to those of C19. Therefore, it would not be unreasonable for a medic during a pandemic to assume C19 might be a contributing factor.

Let’s be honest too, there is absolutely nothing for any government to gain by revising causes of death - and quite a lot to lose if they admitted errors. Nothing sinister in this, just bad PR.

I’d also be interested where those who are accusing others of basing their facts on information from the internet and MSM are getting their own facts from and why they are so adamant the provenance is the most accurate. There’s bound to be some confirmation bias in any information gleaned.

The BBC is possibly the most reliable source for me personally, but even they have been proven to show bias and not be above sensationalist reporting on occasions.

you understand that pneumonia and Covid aren't two separate entities? Do you understand that pneumonia can be caused by Covid, and that during the pandemic was the most common cause of pneumonia?

That post you keep repeating proves the point. "Doctor's should use their clinical judgement to determine the most likely cause of death". That's normal and rational. That's not the same as just sticking Covid on everyone's DC as some conspiracy theorists believe happened. If Doctor's were sticking Covid on DC's when they didn't believe it was the most likely explanation, that would be illegal, and a huge conspiracy. But we're not conspiracy theorists here.... are we?

No formal diagnosis is needed for a DC. That's not how DC's work. The doctor uses their best clinical judgement. That's not a guess. It happens for whole range of conditions, not just COVID. Do you think there is a conspiracy to make bump up the numbers of deaths from Sepsis. Because every death certificate that has Sepsis on is based on clincal judgement. There is no "formal test".

Which is fine - except different scientists had different theories and the important thing about science is that it should not be carved in stone and constantly reevaluated. Remember how Covid patients were placed on their fronts until treatment was reassessed and it was realised that position was actually contributing to fatalities? Remember how thousands of ventilators were ordered, until it was realised that intubation was causing more issues? Remember how we were all told to meticulously wash our hands until it was realised that covid was airborne?

To cling fanatically to preconceived and indoctrinated beliefs about covid treatment is as counterintuitive and irrational as those that deny its existence.

Correct, but if one wasn't available to the doctor, but the symptoms were likely to have been caused by Covid in the Doctor's judgement, it's perfectly reasonable to put that. That's nothing new for Covid, and whatever you believe wasn't some conspiracy by Doctor's to bump up the numbers.

Parker231 · 11/12/2024 16:03

Notmoog · 11/12/2024 15:58

but there IS a test for covid.

I’ll post again because I don’t think you reading the facts

Doctors are required by law to certify the cause of death 'to the best of their knowledge and belief'. This means the medical professional believed COVID-19 had been involved in the chain of events that led to the death. Testing could inform part of the information provided by the medical professional, but they could also use other information (such as symptoms and x-rays, for example). This means that someone could have COVID-19 on the death certificate who may not have been tested for COVID-19. Also, in some cases, the person may have tested positive for COVID-19, but the medical professional believed that COVID-19 did not play a part in the death. This means COVID-19 would not appear on the death certificate.

Well yes, directly in response to you bringing it up.. death certs is the drum you’re banging.

so we’ve established you don’t know how many death certificates were reissued. I don’t have an issue with certificates from the pandemic so I’m not going to Google and I take it you aren’t either. That can just remain as a mystery on the thread then.

so back to what you consider as a gold standard information and distribution method on a population level. Or at least a hint at what sources you do rate. I know you mentioned the ONS but you didn’t seem to respond when I used it so I’m taking it you don’t like the interpretive nature of that. Or at least other peoples interpretations (have to say, that’s not a confident indicator of what you do consider reliable sources).

Wow. There is a huge amount of misinformation here.

Remember how Covid patients were placed on their fronts until treatment was reassessed and it was realised that position was actually contributing to fatalities?

Proning didn't contribute to fatalities. It was of proven benefit to those with the severest symptoms, and is still a treatment today for many respiratory conditions, including Covid.

Remember how thousands of ventilators were ordered, until it was realised that intubation was causing more issues?

The timing of intubation is always difficult and not quite as simple as intubation = bad.

Remember how we were all told to meticulously wash our hands until it was realised that covid was airborne?

Just because a virus is also airborne aswell as living on surfaces, doesn't mean washing your hands is bad science. In fact it's still a very very good idea 😂

I genuinely don’t understand your point here? Covid was an experience in real-time science but the advice and knowledge changing isn’t proof of anything except what happened.

As a result of the pandemic, there seems to be a really weird anti-science, anti-woke, anti-left psychology and drive.
I’d want to ignore it, or dismiss it as nonsense - but the types who ‘think’ that way seem to align to the likes of Trump/Musk/Farage/Putin etc.
What scares me is that the likes of Trump (who has been called out so many times for being wrong) have enough money to argue that black is white, and don’t actually care if they are wrong,
Their collective money and narcissism give them the power to do whatever they want, however stupid they are.
And they seem to have a great, great many stupid followers : who are basically high up the narcissistic scale themselves - and facts mean nothing so long as they get what they want.
Make America Great Again.

Scary isn’t it?

No idea.
I think the covid injections did more harm than good for a large part of the population.
I'm not in the USA and know very little about their politics I'm afraid so can't really comment on Trump etc.
Same with Germany ( is that a well known slogan there- make Germany great?) ( maybe try the politics forum for those more informed)

It's quite simple for me

The deaths and other implications of covid are much much greater than those of the vaccine, which isn't perfect

Hence, despite the fact that most people are living normally now, we don't have 100s of deaths a day, etc

Vaccines did this. There were other factors like different variants, built-up immunity, etc. But led by vaccines

Many on here aren't just denying the impact of vaccines, but they are refuting the impact of covid itself, steeples, msm, do your own research using Google, etc. It's ridiculous

Oh, and many of them have moved on to deny climate change as their new battle against the establishment. Again, it would be entertaining if it wasn't for the impact on others....

It's true. The monster shouters on my SM are still banging on about the COVID vaccine but there's lots of climate change isn't real and it's a big cover up for weather modification and the governments now control the weather and any big storms are them wanting to get to precious minerals or whatever.

It's weird.

If the ruddy governments can control the weather, how about a bit of sun like
