COVID vaccine? Does it do anything?

I jumped at getting the COVID vaccines when they came out and I got all the vaccines that I was eligible for to date except for this year.

I got COVID in the summer time and I wasn't able to get the vaccine this winter. My GP recommended a 4 month wait.

It's just I got COVID twice. Once in 2022 and I had that bad too. I wasn't hospitalised but still I was ill with fever, body aches, headaches and coughs for over a week. I was rushed back to work prepaturely when I still wasn't 100% better.

I got COVID this summer too. I was floored with it.

A lot of people were floored with it this summer. Even though we got the COVID vaccines.

It's just I got a reminder text to book the vaccine today and I just don't know.

I am not anti vaccine but what is the point of the vaccine when youre still going to get exposed and become ill to this anyways?

I got flu in 2004 or 2005 and I was getting flu vaccine because of my work from about 2008 and I never had flue since 04/05. The flu vaccine works. But I am questioning the COVID vaccine? What is the point of going out of my way to travel to an establishment to get jabbed and sore for a few days and if I am exposed to COVID, I am likely still going to get it.

The rules were for the greater good of the population as a whole and not in place to prevent your family having a holiday.

I can only assume you had no idea of what was happening in the NHS and ICU’s?

yeah yeah.
Guilt tripping time is way in the past I'm afraid.
And the rules were a mix of public health, politics and utter bollocks.
Cracking holiday which was the main thing 😁

@Parker231

Do you really think there is even a shred of consideration for those who were vulnerable? Absolutely not. Holidays come first.
And any attempts to control viral spread in a pandemic are clearly a waste of time, resources and money. Let the bodies pile high!!

Oh behave. You sound like the hysterical people from 2020

I was having an absolutely hideous time in 2020 while you were sunning yourself on a beach, laughing about how you’d duped everyone. @Mightymoog
Thankfully the NHS saved my loved one’s life - and also my other 12 year old loved one who we thought might have leukaemia (it was PIMS).
But of course we - and the other 7 million who died from Covid - are just disposable fodder.
So long as you can sun yourself on a beach, I’m sure you’ll continue to twist any studies about vaccines to support your vile behaviour.

FrenchandSaunders · 01/03/2025 07:43

Each to their own. We all had to make decisions based on our own info/experiences/concerns/wishes.

I only had one jab and that was purely to travel.

No point getting hysterical about it 5 years later 🤷🏼‍♀️

Deaths from Covid in the UK were less than 0.3% of the total population.

Thats is obv still a lot of people and I’m not belittling that or under estimating the grief of their loved ones. But how many of them were very old and poorly anyway.

And the way the media were portraying the outbreak you’d think half the population had dropped dead on their doorstep after going for their second walk of the day. It was all madness.

DH, a doctor, worked on Covid wards. He will never forget those patients and the sheer numbers needing intensive care. Every available space was turned into Covid wards, with staff also becoming ill and with limited PPE and respirators.

Two of our friends died of Covid, neither old or with pre existing health conditions. One died just before the vaccine rollout - we will always wonder whether he would have survived if he’d had the vaccine in time.

It's painfully obvious that you have no medical training and very little grasp or science.

I died after the covid jab but just think how much worse it would have been if I hadn’t taken it.

Stay safe!

Actually, ignoring the natural acquired immunity was a bit wrong to say as I remember there was a window of time where if you could prove you had antibodies you could travel abroad without a vaccine.
Can't remember when it was but we cheated and got lovely antibody status for the whole family and went to Spain 😁

Foul.

Your comment is disgusting. Millions died and others are still suffering from Long Covid but you were selfish enough to only think of yourself and your holiday.

yep.
Really needed that hols.
If you're trying to guilt trip you're almost half a decade too late!

@Mightymoog

Wonder if your holiday was at about the same time as my 12 year old DC had a temp of about 40C for 4 days, and we were waiting for emergency help in a hospital overrun with Covid.

Or when my Mum was trying to get emergency treatment for bowel cancer in a Covid overrun hospital - and trying to cope with a stoma bag.
Or when her surgeon was battling for hours trying to save her life.

So pleased to hear that you had such a lovely time I’m so sorry that us weaklings were such an annoyance to you and your family.

Gosh, can't remember the dates now.
I think it was late May possibly.
Weather was really lovely.
Don't worry about having been a nuisance; your family genuinely had zero impact on my life but thanks for the thought x
