What are your hearing about vaccine side effects? Have done a quick Google sounds as if worse with Moderna than Pfizer, but Moderna more effective?

Gosh - I seem to have typed it all into the title!! What have you heard?

I've reacted badly to some vaccines in the past and not at all once, so Im keen to find one that has less side effects.

But I'm a bit concerned if it is less effective!!

Also not sure about availability - as if it is Pfizer, it seems to be in shorter supply??

I have never had Covid and nor has my DH. Why assume everyone has had it?
I had a booster, together with my flu vaccine a couple of weeks ago and had no side effects at all. Sorry i don’t know if it was Pfizer or Moderna

BananagramBadger · 19/11/2024 17:54

Had Moderna, sore arm was a lot worse than Pfizer. Otherwise fine.

The year I didn’t bother getting the jab (2023) I had covid that took me out for two weeks.

Interestingly I also don’t know anyone at all who’s had long term health effects from jabs. Amazing that a PP knows no less than three people with issues that have definitely been proven to be caused by the jabs. Small world 😂

If you have had past reactions you need to seek actual medical advice. Here you will get anecdote and scare stories.

Kangarude · 19/11/2024 17:59

I’ve checked my NHS app and I was given Comirnaty JN.1. Seems it was approved earlier this year

Is it 2021??

I initially had the Pfizer for my first jab and was horribly ill with shivers, aches and flu like symptoms for almost a week. Had Moderna for my booster and had a huge autoimmune reaction where all my lymph nodes swelled up, plus, again, flu like symptoms. Haven't had any more boosters!

Should probably also mention that, despite my ds having had Covid twice (once pre-vaccine and once after), plus my ex partner and pretty much everyone else I've been in close contact with, I've somehow managed to avoid it altogether!

Coolblur · 19/11/2024 18:04

I think some posters are forgetting a lot of people are offered covid vaccinations every 6 months still. So this is a relevant question for many.

I’ve had the full range now, 2 x AZ, 2 x Moderna, 2 x Pfizer

I have had Covid but it’s been very mild so hopefully means the vaccines are working

To answer the OP. I had the sorest arm from moderna, nothing more. I am both old and frail so I've had a lot of vaccine doses.
There is some evidence that the moderna is more effective, I'm not sure any of them do much but as covid nearly killed me when I had it early on I keep the vaccines up to date because I don't want a repeat of that.

Maddy70 · 19/11/2024 19:10

I had a sore arm and felt very fluey with the Oxford one. 2nd and 3rd i had was Pfizer. No adverse reastion at all

I nowhave heart issues which (according to my cardiologist ) are more likely than not to have been caused by the vaccine.😟

I think it's you that's wearing that ole tinfoil hat

UnmentionedElephantDildo · 19/11/2024 20:19

When you look at the number of cardiac conditions that are caused by covid the disease, the number associated with the vaccine are tiny (this is the first vaccine where info on how to report side effects has been widespread - no gatekeeping by HCPs)

I had Moderna, with no side effects except very slight and v transient soreness at injection site.
