What are your hearing about vaccine side effects? Have done a quick Google sounds as if worse with Moderna than Pfizer, but Moderna more effective?

Gosh - I seem to have typed it all into the title!! What have you heard?

I've reacted badly to some vaccines in the past and not at all once, so Im keen to find one that has less side effects.

But I'm a bit concerned if it is less effective!!

Also not sure about availability - as if it is Pfizer, it seems to be in shorter supply??

Wow @Robbinz the number of unfortunate people you know has more than doubled in the time this thread has been up. I’m getting slightly concerned that being your acquaintance may be dangerous for others. You should probably look into that…

Yes his practice were paid for their vaccinations but much less than figure you have quoted. It’s usual to get paid for your additional time! I was also a volunteer at a local vaccination centre.

Plenty of reports that the majority of hospital inpatients were not fully vaccinated but I think you must know that. It’s common knowledge.

I am not anti vax at all but personally won't be having any more as my4th one was followed by varying horrible neurological issues almost immediately - 2 years later much reduced but still there at times. May be coincidence, maybe not- but I won't risk it

mitogoshigg · 19/11/2024 22:21

I didn't get a choice, if you want to be vaccinated you get whatever the drs were giving.

TPJB · 19/11/2024 22:22

I had a stiff neck for 24 hours after the Pfizer. I had it because I have only had Covid once but was bed bound for over two weeks and not right for several months after.

AyrshireTryer · 19/11/2024 22:24

Mother in nursing home went to hospital following a fall caught Covid and died.
Friend had health issues, caught Covid and died.
Friend had asthma caught covid died 40
Father in law in care, caught Covid and died.

but, you know, a sore arm is a sore arm.

DH is a doctor, worked on hospital Covid wards and then back in general practice. He has seen thousands of patients - not one with vaccine injuries other than a sore arm, whereas he has treated many with long term illnesses from being unvaccinated and then getting Covid. Two of our friends without underlying health conditions died of Covid just before they were able to get the vaccine.

My mother is a GP and has also seen thousands of patients and her experience tallies with your DH's. Sore arms, a few women with heavier than normal periods for a few cycles and a couple of people who had autoimmune conditions exacerbated (whether by the vaccine or the virus is undetermined). Amazing how random Mumsnet users know scores of fit and healthy young people who drop dead from the vaccines right and left but the doctors seem to be missing the entire phenomenon.

People shouldn’t have to justify why they have the vaccine. Maybe they are old or vulnerable or maybe they just want it. It’s really none of your business.

I've always had Pfizer for my 7 vaccinations, with no ill effects - and I've never had covid (and yes, I test every time I have a cold!). I live in NZ where anyone can be vaccinated.

Parker231 · 19/11/2024 20:52

A friends nine year old daughter ended up in hospital with Covid - she developed Kawasaki disease. Unfortunately Covid can still be a serious illness.

Yes, my friend's healthy nephew was recently airlifted to a larger hospital on life support with Covid. I think he's okay now, but it will take him a while to fully recover.

Pixiedust1234 · 19/11/2024 23:20

To answer OPs question whilst ignoring the pita poster who seems determined to derail the thread, I've had Astra, Astra, Pfizer, Moderna plus a lovely dose of covid itself and been extremely ill every single time for 2-3 weeks each. I nearly didn't have the jab this year but I don't think I would survive covid unless I did. Had the Pfizer one and felt rough for 24 hours and then okay except for nausea which is ongoing. I also have the flu jab each year, I hope that's okay with a certain pp.

You do realise that healthy people can have a stroke and/or heart attack at any time? You have no evidence that it was linked to the vaccine. I find it rather difficult to believe that you "know" all these people who dropped dead. I can only think of three or four in my whole country who died of a vaccine related illness, and I didn't "know" any of them.

I remember at the height of the vaccine rollout people spreading rumours about a man who died on the footpath, immediately after his vaccination. It turned out he died on the way in, hadn't even had the vaccination!! Why let the truth get in the way of a good story.
