What are your hearing about vaccine side effects? Have done a quick Google sounds as if worse with Moderna than Pfizer, but Moderna more effective?

Gosh - I seem to have typed it all into the title!! What have you heard?

I've reacted badly to some vaccines in the past and not at all once, so Im keen to find one that has less side effects.

But I'm a bit concerned if it is less effective!!

Also not sure about availability - as if it is Pfizer, it seems to be in shorter supply??

I've had Moderna twice - both times it knocked me flat and I felt horrible for 24 hours. All well since and I've not had covid at all. Now just trying to find a weekend where I don't have to do anything so I can get my next one and waste my weekend being unwell.

I’ve checked my NHS app and I was given Comirnaty JN.1. Seems it was approved earlier this year

That's the Pfizer vaccine.

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 19/11/2024 20:39

@loveyouradvice
Do you mean around the vaccines in general, or specifically this year's batch?

I'm not sure if the poster is correct that you get more immunity from actually having Covid; I thought that this wasn't the case and that people who have had it more times are actually having more problems with their immunity in general? There seem to be so many contradictions.

I've paid to have the Covid vax this year (Pfizer) and I did feel a little more unwell than I had previous occasions and I was starting to regret having it, but the next day I felt fine again, so, pleased I had it done now.

No-one ever died of Covid - oh wait.

I've had 3 covid vaccines and had confirmed covid twice. I was severely ill (hospitalised) with complications from covid for several days and in the "young" category, it is not to be underestimated. Please get vaccinated if advised and don't listen to random scaremongering on the Internet. Unfortunately the damage done by Andrew Wakefield regarding the MMR vaccine and general vaccine scepticism still lives on in another format.

AutumnLeaves24 · 19/11/2024 20:48

I had mine about 3 weeks ago, this is the first time I've not asked which it was or been given info about it. I think I've had most of them since it began & touch wood only felt a little bit sore & a little bit more tired (but I'm usually tired/ exhausted so it doesn't make much difference).

the vaccine deniers should really stay off these threads, she was asking which not if!!

some of us have underlying issues and have made up our minds we will have the vaccines & yes, Covid is still a risk to us & actually people without underlying, as per many threads on here saying how it's currently making them so unwell.

i don't much care if anti vacciners don't want to have it, but I wish they'd leave those of us that do, the hell alone.

Moderna no problem.

When you look at the number of cardiac conditions that are caused by covid the disease, the number associated with the vaccine are tiny (this is the first vaccine where info on how to report side effects has been widespread - no gatekeeping by HCPs)

I had Moderna, with no side effects except very slight and v transient soreness at injection site.

A friends nine year old daughter ended up in hospital with Covid - she developed Kawasaki disease. Unfortunately Covid can still be a serious illness.

Either way the immunity doesn't last and the disease is mutating so the whole virus is changing with time. Immunity from getting Covid is only good if you don't die or get long term illness from having the disease, you have to survive it to enjoy the immunity, the vaccine avoids that.

There are numerous studies on this but are not reliable due to the number of variables.

I’m sure you can look it up if you want to? Not something I want to spend my time on - would rather rely on experts in my local medical practice.

BellissimoGecko · 19/11/2024 21:17

I had a Covid jab with my flu jab a month ago. Not sure which flavour it was. Absolutely no side effects apart from a sore arm at the injection site for the next day.

I cant say whether this is a rare anomaly of experiences. but ive heard quite a few suffering ill effects and fatalities from the covid jab. so far...

  1. hairdresser up the road died heart issues within 2 days of having the jab, he was 43 and previously healthy.
  2. lady we met on holiday told us her dad 60 died within 4 days of his last booster, was healthy before.
  3. former friend in London we met up with in 2021 had earlier been on a march against the mandate for nhs health workers, his best friend was a fitness instructor and in perfect health. died within 17 hours of his first jab.
  4. 2 friends under 55 had cancers come back within 3 months of their 2nd jab or booster, had been 3 - 5 years in remission.
  5. next door neighbour late 50s has developed endocarditis, taking years of his life. he never got covid.

By comparison Ive only heard of 1 death from (or with) covid in someone who had dementia, was 81.

Certainly wouldnt touch it with a barge poll given at my age the survival rate for someone in their 40s is 99.97% and had covid twice. fortunately i dont think you can get the jabs unless over 65 or vulnerable.
The benefits of the jab particularly to under 60s and healthy were grossly exaggerated. and the vast majority would make a complete recovery. half my friends and family didnt take it almost all have had it, no long covid. and those that had the jabs had covid more times - weird!

DH is a doctor, worked on hospital Covid wards and then back in general practice. He has seen thousands of patients - not one with vaccine injuries other than a sore arm, whereas he has treated many with long term illnesses from being unvaccinated and then getting Covid. Two of our friends without underlying health conditions died of Covid just before they were able to get the vaccine.
