My anxiety is sky high after reading the daily Mail article about excess deaths

I have health anxiety and I've been trying to distance myself from any media and news articles about the Vaccine.
Today it popped up on my phone about the record number of excess deaths are the highest ever, then I started reading the comments and the amount of people saying 'I told you so' and 'The truth is now coming out' on there is worrying 😩
I feel really panicky and over weekend at the thought of having 3 vaccines inside my body and now all this stuff is coming out about people dying of heart attacks for no reason.
I know there's nothing we can do now but

I'm just terrified.

😟

In the nicest way - get a grip! People are not dying for no reason. Sudden deaths happen.
It's a shite flu year, people drank their way through lockdown and that's just working through in terms of health impact and everybody's mental health and well-being is well and truly in the shredder which also knackers physical health. And of course our services are underfunded so the NHS is creaking and some stuff that might get caught ordinarily isn't being.it's nothing to do with jabs.
I work in a hospital, frontline services. There's nothing sinister happening. It's just a totally crap time.
I've had 4 jabs btw. I'm still up and running and so are all my colleagues.

BHRK · 24/01/2023 21:17

They are not for no reason and they are certainly not caused by vaccines!
reasons given today by a range of experts including ONS and health think tanks are:
flu (one in four caused by high rates of flu)
more frailty in the elderly
cold snap
people not seeking NHS care
delays to getting care
more people dying at home

vodkaredbullgirl · 24/01/2023 21:18

People die every day, some years are worse than others.

vodkaredbullgirl · 24/01/2023 21:19

We have an aging populations.

DrMarciaFieldstone · 24/01/2023 21:20

Was this a news website, or some Facebook armchair scientist article?

People die all the time, sometimes the rate will be higher than others.

User98866 · 24/01/2023 21:21

The cause is NHS/ambulance crisis, backlog caused by pandemic so lots of people aren’t on the medication they should be and probably CoL crisis exacerbating things too. Though no one wants to mention that. People have to stop voting Tory. It’s literally killing us. Nothing to do with the vaccine. People have been receiving the vaccine for what? at least 18 months now?

Northernlurker · 24/01/2023 21:21

Flu has honestly been dreadful this year. Around Christmas especially. It's loads better now.

FloorWipes · 24/01/2023 21:21

I don't know if this will help or not because I'm sure people will be along with the scientific evidence that demonstrates vaccines are safe, covid is more dangerous and excess deaths are caused by things like failure to prescribe statins during lockdown. All true. People will also point out that Daily Mail commenters are not a famously reliable source.

But I'm going with a different line of reasoning! Most people who helped clean up Chernobyl survived. Most of the people who were poisoned with Novichok in Salisbury survived. Buzz Aldrin just got married for 4th time and he went to the actual moon. This tiny vaccine even if it's literal poison is probably going to be ok too.

NewBootsAndRanty · 24/01/2023 21:21

Solution: Don't read the Daily Mail, and never ever read the comments.

Quartz2208 · 24/01/2023 21:22

Yes the rate is high but it isnt because of the vaccine. Take BHRK reasons and add into it ambulance delays, long waits in A&E, unmet need during the pandemic and major backlogs for routine NHS care.

And you have a perfect storm

Reading the Daily M website and I started reading the comments and the amount of people saying 'I told you so' and 'The truth is now coming out' is your first mistake.

Saturdaynoon · 24/01/2023 21:26

If you have anxiety,, for goodness sake atop reading the Daily Mail.

I work in bereavement and, yes it is ridiculously busy, but the death certificates ahow the usual stuff. Lots of dementia, pneumonia etc. Aging population, bad flu season, people probably not getting treated quick enough..

I can't remember the last, out of the blue, heart attack I saw. Not in last 12 months anyway.

Oh god, the daily mail… even worse.

hamstersarse · 24/01/2023 21:28

No one knows why there are this number of excess deaths because it has not been investigated yet, it’s all speculation, all of it

itwasntmetho · 24/01/2023 21:28

Meditation apps can be really good if you're on edge in general.
I also wouldn't read the news for a while.

milkyaqua · 24/01/2023 21:31

Surely a considerable part of the excess deaths would be covid-related, as is the same world-wide since the start of the pandemic, which has not ended by the way.

Puppylucky · 24/01/2023 21:33

@milkyaqua The WHO has just announced the lowest global level of COVID deaths since March 2020 - I think we can largely rule that one out now.

This is my thoughts too. The chances of anyone getting to hospital within the 'golden hour or two' is not happening. Do don't have a stroke.

SillyTilly2 · 24/01/2023 21:35

I don’t read the Daily Mail but I am also seriously worried about the state of the NHS. I just think if I have a heart attack or stroke I will die.

Atethehalloweenchocs · 24/01/2023 21:43

You can spend a lot of time worrying about this, but what difference will it actually make? The purpose of worry is to solve problems but there isnt anything you can do here - I find reminding myself it is out of my hands helps when I get really anxious, odd as that may sound.

@behappy1736

If you are going to develop vaccine related side effects, this happens in the very short term.

It is biologically impossible for a vaccine to suddenly cause someone to drop dead/have a heart attack/get myocarditis months after having it. It's not how they work. The antigen produced from a the vaccine triggers an immune response immediately, in a tiny proportion of cases this goes on to cause side effects.

For everyone defending Aseem Malhotra et al who are making a profit from "just asking questions", this is what they cause. It's maddening.

rockly · 24/01/2023 22:02

You also don't have vaccines "inside your body". The mRNA and antigen produced is degraded within days. The only longer term change is that your immune system has learnt how to fight the virus.

If you were going to develop side effects, you would know by now. Please do not give this a second thought Flowers

Listen to the 99% of credible experts who stand by the recommendation of vaccination, and don't fall down a rabbit hole of grifters who are spreading misinformation purely so they can profit.

I don't think we can "rule that one out now", at all. I've not seen this announcement you mentioned. Just googled away and could find no reference to it on WHO's site. Did however find this:

As the World Health Organization prepares to decide whether COVID-19 remains a global emergency, the UN agency’s director-general says key pandemic indicators are going in the wrong direction, including a rising number of deaths.

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said Tuesday he is “very concerned” about the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak and the impact it continues to have in many countries.

"“In the past eight weeks, more than 170,000 people have died of COVID-19. That’s just reported, as the actual number of deaths is much higher,” he said.
“While I will not preempt the advice of the emergency committee, I remain very concerned by the situation in many countries and the rising number of deaths.”

WHO data shows that in the 28 days between Dec. 19, 2022, and Jan. 15, the number of COVID deaths worldwide increased by 20 per cent compared with the previous 28 days.

A good friend of mine works in a care home, they've just resigned after 3 residents died in a 2 week period due to preventable causes that weren't dealt with due to low staff or no doctor available when called, they don't want to be . Personally my money would be on that happening quite widely at the moment given the state of the nhs and large numbers of care homes, wards, community teams being way below their safe staffing levels. That's before you go into the bad winter for flu, people waiting for hours to get an ambulance, or sat outside in an ambulance unable to get into the hospital, or in a "2 week wait" for diagnosis and treatment for cancer that currently can be anywhere from 4-10 weeks it seems.
