It was on the news but also lots of fb posts from people saying buy a lottery ticket if you didn't get covid at Glastonbury because you are that lucky as so many have.

Hardly surprising I know but it seems its absolutely rife at the moment and it's highly contagious.

Not good news for hospitals and care homes who still have to follow rules around self isolation. Care Homes still have to lockdown if 2 member of staff or mote test positive and lots of hospital staff will also be off.

I'm sort of annoyed as I did say he would probably come back with Covid

apologies as I read this as annoyed with her son

AngelsWithSilverWings · 03/07/2022 15:04

@SingingInParadise thank you -you've correctly understood what I meant. I had no problem with DH and DS going to Glastonbury after having bought the tickets over two years ago. Just annoyed at the situation and the almost inevitability of it really. Luckily DD still only showing very mild symptoms and I've still not caught it!

AngelsWithSilverWings · 03/07/2022 15:07

@Ohthatsexciting my son is completely clear of Covid - it's just my husband and he has isolated from the rest of us as far as it's possible to when we all live in the same house. He is sleeping in the spare room and spends the day in our garden cabin.

Everyone I know of that went to Glastonbury came back covid positive, and it's rife here. I have gone back to wearing a mask, even though I hate doing so....my glasses get steamed up and I can't see well without them.

Now my DH wants us to start going to a live music venue. It is a crowded event in a small pub, where people have to shout over the music to make themselves heard. His attitude is 'we have to start living again', my attitude is 'yes, of course, but don't take stupid risks'. I also have medical issues which mean that I could get quite ill with covid and the thought of long covid scares me.

He'll sulk if he can't go........

KylieKoKo · 06/07/2022 13:57

@notjustoneteaspoon I think there is a compromise to be had rather than you dictating where your husband can and can't go.

Can he not go and then take precautions such as sleeping elsewhere and keeping your house well ventilated for a few days afterwards?

TheKeatingFive · 06/07/2022 14:15

I just think avoiding covid is looking increasingly like a pipe dream.

Of those I know who hadn't had it before now, a huge amount have got it this wave. I don't know many any more who've avoided it.

So I wouldn't be holding off doing the things I love, if you don't pick it up there, chances are you'll get it eventually, whether that's on a train or in Sainsbury's.

Very true to.my knowledge I have never had covid, well I have never tested positive for it even when it's been in the house ,Ds has had it twice and he's got symptoms again it's never going to be avoided.

KylieKoKo,

I am not dictating to my husband where he can/cannot go. That's a crazy assumption. All I'm trying to do is to weigh up the risks and I happen to think that a small unventilated room crowded with people may present a higher risk than say, a small festival in the open air. We are both in our mid-sixties, so perhaps we need to take a little more care.
