Tested positive today - anyone else?

Tested positive this morning (Sunday) after negative test last night. I think I had it before a few months ago so am a bit annoyed to have it again.

Symptoms are feeling chesty, bit of a cough, painful mouth ulcers on back of tongue.

Anyone else along for the ride?

@elephantmarchingin thats awful , really pissed off with new guidelines hardly anyone is staying in for 5 days it seems or just not testing as they seem to think that is the guidelines and i know of work places that have insisted people in if positive as not law now.
Therefore its spreading like mad and ruining peoples holiday and plans
I was in contact with someone at work mon who then tested positive monday eve , also due to fly sat and can't cancel just because i am a contact, highly stressed that might get covid and holiday is ruined ( more so for others going than me) making myself almost feel ill with the worry of it all
I know we have to learn to live with it to a degree but maybe we should of stepped down gradually with the rules so there wasn't so much of a spread or at least kept free tests so people could test and check a bit more

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 23/06/2022 11:04

It's a week since my positive test and I feel loads better but not totally normal.
I did a retest this morning and it's still positive.
Very faint, a squinter. but it's there.
I've got to be negative for a hospital appointment monday

Travelban · 23/06/2022 11:57

Day three here, also not sleeping well at all. Woke up with a sore throat in the night but it's gone now, I have a cough instead. Still high temperature, had to change my whole bed etc as it was literally soaked. I guess it's the temperature...

D0lphine · 23/06/2022 12:04

Day 5. Feeling better but v tired and also feeling really down! Having to really check myself.

oopsfellover · 23/06/2022 12:09

@worriedatthistime I reckon I got it at a concert last Monday night. Had a few symptoms on Thursday morning, tested positive then. Day 8 now. Don’t feel
too ill, but line is still quite strong.

libbytrois · 23/06/2022 12:32

@Schmz think you're right it is dehydration!!

Chevyimpala67 · 23/06/2022 12:42

Got some LFTs...
Dh now testing + but feels ok
Ds1 still faint line on lft
My line very strong

Perfectlystill · 22/06/2022 22:02

Oh yeah I tested today which was stupid but I felt so much better I thought well maybe?

MASSIVE positive line. Like a joke one!

So don't test on day four is my advice!

I'm on day 5 and also got the comedy line 🙄

My lower back/ kidney pain has finally eased today. I logged on to my emails for an hour but could not concentrate so have logged off again. Hung out 2 loads of washing with big rest in between and am now going to bed!
I'm definitely less snotty and my cough has eased a bit, it now feels more chesty which is great cos it's moving stuff out of my lungs! I am just so tired.

SquirrelFan · 23/06/2022 13:12

Quite a lot better here, 7 days from onset of symptoms, 5 from positive test. New symptoms that only appeared recently are dizziness and yes, the lower back pain. I had kidney pain earlier on but now it's settled in the very base of my spine, right above the bum divide (is there a nicer way to say that?). Can't sit down; I'm strolling gently around my bedroom. Am afraid to test my oxygen. Cough better. Anyone got any suggestions for cheerful websites /films /Netflix shows? Finding the isolation has worn thin...

picklemewalnuts · 23/06/2022 13:17

Ha! I've had a pain in my tailbone. I assumed it was too much sitting/lying down!

And a pain in my stomach after eating- though I'm constantly hungry!

Nice things to watch... sorry, no idea. What about a nice regency romance on kindle? There are usually loads of those free. That's my go to 'ill in bed' distraction.

Chevyimpala67 · 23/06/2022 13:19

God, this sore throat is something else...
It's like whole throat is swollen all the way down:(

Perfectlystill · 23/06/2022 13:25

I've binged all of After Life. Yes bits of it are sad but (unless you are recently bereaved) not unbearably so, and the funny bits are proper laugh out loud funny. And I never laugh out loud at things.

So I really recommend that.

Today I've started Snowflake Mountain on Netflix about a bunch of young people dumped in the middle of the Lake District. Not very impressed tbh but will try episode 2 in case it's a grower.

I'm also reading Miss Benson's Beetle which is lowbrow twaddle but all I'm fit for, and acing Wordle.

I would recommend Two Summers on Netflix if you want something gripping. It's subtitled and Flemish - I quite like that Euro vibe - and very easy to watch and grips you from the start.

Day 4 here and starting to feel a bit better. Still really tired and chest is tight, but I'm not so achey and don't have a temp. I'm coughing up lots of green phlegm which is a bit gross. Hoping I'll be up for working tomorrow.

Schmz · 23/06/2022 14:06

Watching umbrella academy on Netflix-
highly recommend!!

im so bored though !!!!

if I’m not at work I want to be gardening, walking, on my allotment,
ugh
this feels like such a waste of time !!!

got no energy though
still positive

elephantmarchingin · 23/06/2022 15:19

How have you all not panicked? I am in a complete state of panic which is helping no one at all. I do suffer terribly with anxiety so obviously not helping but all I can keep thinking is this time next week I could be in hospital being put into a coma it's chronic

That's really unlikely @elephantmarchingin. If you have been vaccinated, the chances of being hospitalised are really very low. I know that health anxiety isn't always rational, though. I'm sorry that you're feeling so panicky. Hopefully, you'll realise soon that you're going to be just fine.

I was anxious about covid when the pandemic started, but I'm on my second bout of covid now and I realise that my worries were out of proportion. Of course, the vaccines help a lot too!

You will be fine!Flowers

I'm sorry you're having anxiety.

I am very blasé about it tbh. I know I'll probably be fine and if I'm not there's not a whole lot I can do about it.

Only thing that's in my control is to relax, take time to get better, keep hydrated etc.

Perfectlystill · 23/06/2022 15:45

Oh @elephantmarchingin you mustn't panic. You will be fine. It's just like a bad cold with a couple of days at the start when you feel a bit ill.

I know what you mean about it's a not scary finally seeing those two lines on the test, but really just think how many people you know of every age, ethnicity, size and health status you know who've had it and got through it.

The odds are massively in your favour.

Can you do something to take your mind off it? A jigsaw? Cooking?

@Perfectlystill it sucks more that it's DS birthday today and he doesn't understand why we haven't gone swimming (as we told him he would be doing yesterday). He's been so sad all day. We live near the beach so may go at 9/10pm tonight to take him out for some fresh air before it gets dark but realise that is probably really selfish.

Poor little mite just looks so sad

Perfectlystill · 23/06/2022 15:48

Take him out swimming. I would.

Perfectlystill · 23/06/2022 15:49

Make it special with hot chocolate afterwards etc

I was inclined to panic. I have some vulnerabilities that worry me.

However, the best chance I can give myself is to stay hydrated, take paracetamol, and stay calm and rested.

Sucking ice lollies is very therapeutic.

Of course you can go out for fresh air! And a swim for that matter, if you can find a quiet area where he won't be too tempted to play with other children.

elephantmarchingin · 23/06/2022 15:56

@picklemewalnuts he wouldn't go near anyone else anyway. He's still testing negative and has been a good boy doing the test today. We may go via the drive through and get him a happy meal as well.

Will see how DH is as he seems a bit more bunged up this afternoon

picklemewalnuts · 23/06/2022 16:01

Best thing to focus on is practicalities. Little things- like the happy meal- that make you feel better.

Thank goodness for online shopping and deliveries. We've had no concern about feeding ourselves, or all the other panics earlier in the pandemic.

And it's so reassuring to know that treatments and vaccinations have advanced so effectively. Don't get me wrong, it's pants, I'd rather not have it, but it isn't the terrifying experience it would have been a couple of years ago.
