Thank you! Looking relatively good now.

boys3 · 27/01/2023 10:03

Yes, especially given flu levels. Beeb showed a graph last night for flu as compared with Covid admits, former far higher. Perhaps not unexpected that this would be a tough flu season

Thethingswedoforlove · 29/01/2023 13:51

Does anyone know if they have formally lowered the age of the autumn booster below 50? My brother and I received an invitation to receive a jab text but we don’t know if it is because we care for my mother or because of our age being 45-50?

MargaretThursday · 29/01/2023 13:56

I haven't heard anything, but the local vaccination centre told me last week that if I turn up on an "adult" day then they'll do any adult who wants.

KnittedCardi · 30/01/2023 14:25

www.england.nhs.uk/2023/01/nhs-delivers-20-million-flu-jabs-as-critical-care-cases-rise/

20m flu jabs and 17m covid jabs. It would be really interesting to know, bearing in mind this is quite high level of vaccination, whether those in hospital have been vaccinated or not, as in, how effective was this year's flu vaccine.

KnittedCardi · 30/01/2023 14:27

Particularly as the over 65's got the super duper all covering one. I only got the standard job. Also wondering whether the new Covid vaccine was more effective, anyone know?

borntobequiet · 16/03/2023 10:03

I seem to know quite a few people who have tested positive for Covid recently. Are cases increasing?

MRex · 16/03/2023 11:00

Don't know, I have covid right now if that helps your theory, although DH and DS don't (yet). A fair few from work have had it recently, but I managed to visit a wide range of possible sources last week. It feels more like a constant trickle amongst neighbours / school parents where for the last month or two we have always known someone with covid at the time, nobody very ill nor directly passing it on.

Quarantino · 16/03/2023 14:14

And on the flipside, I think the last couple of months have been the first extended period where I've not heard of anyone (friends, family, colleagues) getting it! It's all been chicken pox where we are...

Faciadipasta · 16/03/2023 14:23

Sadly our house was chicken pox, 1 DC after the other then covid (just me so far) so we've had almost 3.5 weeks of someone isolating. What a load of shit! Just waiting for the noro now for a full house. Got the letter from school at the beginning of the week begging parents not to keep sending back their kids before the 48 hours since last "episode" ugh

MRex · 16/03/2023 15:20

Our school has norovirus, chickenpox, covid and head lice on the go. We've done the norovirus recently and vaccinated DS against chickenpox years ago. On balance, I'm most fearful of what I recognise rationally as being the least harmful, the head lice.

JanglyBeads · 16/03/2023 15:25

Here we are @borntobequiet - yes, new wave

twitter.com/chrischirp/status/1636331860677521409?s=46&t=vLXnmcQ4WRJlG6Z45yCbzg

RafaistheKingofClay · 16/03/2023 15:27

Looking at our inpatient numbers we’re on our way down from a wave that peaked last week or possibly the week before. Having said that, the troughs seem to be getting higher and shorter as far as I can tell.

borntobequiet · 16/03/2023 17:57

Thank you @JanglyBeads

I was struck as much by who was testing positive (people who don’t go out much) and where (all over) as by how many. Oh and most of the IT support at work.
