Today we join the sats with our first covid positives in nearly 3 years of pandemic. Luckily we had a few of the NHS tests left so we've logged our results. Not sure what strain so guessing BA5 most likely still?

JanglyBeads · 04/01/2023 18:18

Hope you do OK, contains .

Quarantino · 04/01/2023 18:24

First ever positives here, too! Can trace back with certainty where it came from...

Pleasepleasepleaseno · 04/01/2023 18:48

That's interesting you can trace back @Quarantino can I ask how long from. Your contact to symptoms.s if you know where you got it from?

boys3 · 04/01/2023 18:52

@containsnuts @Quarantino hoping you both, plus any family members, have as mild as possible experience. Flowers

Pleasepleasepleaseno · 04/01/2023 18:54

Oh and hope you're OK obviously. Sorry that was SO rude of me

containsnuts · 04/01/2023 19:05

Thanks everyone! Lucky I'm not too bad so far. Very few & mild symptoms thankfully as I'm a lone parent. Youngest DC is struggling though. Appetite loss, aches, sore eyes not nice for her but hope it clears up soon without complications which the data suggests it will (nervous chuckle).

MargaretThursday · 04/01/2023 20:31

Hope you're all okay. Am hearing a lot of people getting positives again, including a couple of local nursing homes :(

Quarantino · 06/01/2023 21:45

If all were exposed on day 0 (not sure who the 'bringer of Covid' was but suspect...) - day 3 was when several people started getting symptoms/testing positive straight away. Actually the night of day 2 but decided to sleep on it.

The last remaining adult in the group started feeling symptoms on evening of day 5 but had several negative tests before then - no positive yet but that may change.

Thanks for the good wishes! Seems mild enough in everyone so far. I know some things can linger though.

MRex · 06/01/2023 21:57

Get well soon!!

Pleasepleasepleaseno · 07/01/2023 00:20

Ah hope you're better soon. Pretty scary that every single adult was affected. Hope nobody is too bad

Amireallyhere · 07/01/2023 18:44

containsnuts - I hope your family are recovering quickly.

Last remaining adult now tested positive. Sore throat and shivering!

TurquoiseBeach · 08/01/2023 15:32

JanglyBeads · 07/01/2023 22:21

Concerning. Along with approx 1 in 30 with long covid. Strange version of 'normal'.

JanglyBeads · 08/01/2023 18:17

Sympathies, @Quarantino !

JanglyBeads · 08/01/2023 18:18

Just seen this, worrying re increasing risks from recurring infections:

Welcome downward drift in the numbers for admissions, hospitalisations and ventilators for England as shown in the NHS weekly stats update this afternoon.

on the seven day average basis.

admissions 808 as compared with 995 a week ago, and 2016 this time last year.

number in hospital 8404 as compared with 9414 a week ago and 16339 a year ago

ventilators 196 as compared with 217 a week ago, and 723 a year ago.

Hopefullyupwards · 12/01/2023 18:51

Welcome news

boys3 · 13/01/2023 12:14

Weekly ONS survey out, whilst it has the caveat that it is based on a lower than usual number of returned swabs due to Xmas and New Year period.

for England given the survey lag and the direction we are starting to see in admissions and number in hospital the slight decline to 4.02%, 1 in 25, as compared with 4.52%, 1 in 20, in the previous report is perhaps no great surprise.

Scotland 4.17%, up slightly from 4.05%; Wales 5.16% down from 5.70%, and Northern Ireland 7.04%.

quick health metrics update for England.

ONS survey falling in that published last Friday and probably will do so again in the one published tomorrow.

Admits and number in hospital possibly starting to show signs of flattening. No big (relatively speaking) peak in deaths which are falling back again.

This is ONS survey as published last Friday.
