If you caught it off a person in your household how long did it take to show a positive test?

Our DD came home from school on Thursday unwell with a high temperature and tested positive. Me and DH have been testing daily as he has to for work and household members. So far - touch wood - we have been negative so every day that passes we are hopeful we won’t catch it.

If someone in your household had it and others caught it how long did it take?

DH tested positive last Monday. I tested positive last Thursday though asymptomatic at first

UserOfManyMonickers · 22/03/2022 12:44

DDs boyfriend tested positive last Monday as he started feeling rough. DS1, who’d been working with him the Saturday before, tested positive on Tues and spent two days in bed. DD was negative until Saturday then tested positive but no real symptoms. I then tested positive yesterday as came over feeling shivery and like crap in the morning but feel back to normal today thankfully Grin.

DS2 was sneezing and feeling rough yesterday but I can’t get anymore LFTs. DH and DS3 have yet to be affected. So just over a week and counting!

DP has just tested positive 12 days after DD!! I thought we'd escaped it.
It's possible he picked it up elsewhere but more likely from DD.

sheusesmagazines · 22/03/2022 13:11

My story isn't particularly reassuring
DS was patient zero
DD tested positive 7 days later
I tested positive 12(!!!!!) days later
DH still negative

Moonchild18 · 22/03/2022 13:18

5 days for me and it was 8 days later for DH to get a positive test after DD tested positive.

Daughter tested + on Friday afternoon, negative in morning but with symptoms. We. tested positive on Mon, negative all weekend. Gran today (saw her on Friday before we knew). Tied in with Omacron incubation of 3-5days

Stanleystuck · 22/03/2022 16:02

D's tested positive on Saturday. I tested positive on the Monday 9 days after. I think I might have actually caught it from work rather than him. I was working with someone on the Thursday 4 days before my symptoms started
She was coughing all day and tested positive at the weekend. We shared phones, so I think that could be more likely

neveradullmoment99 · 22/03/2022 16:03

My dd took 7 days to catch it.
I didn't catch it and neither did my ds or myself.
I currently have it now, caught from work! Weird!

Curlysusie · 22/03/2022 16:08

4 days. DD has SN so I couldn't isolate and actually had her in my bed. It would have been a miracle if I hadn't caught it. Didn't feel too bad though, just like a cold.

HumptySumptious · 22/03/2022 16:50

My ds has autism and I’ve had to tell him he’s got covid and that’s why he’s got a week off school, (he never has time off and has been proper kicking off about it)

he’s been purposely coughing in my face telling me he’s passing his germs. Then the usual licking me etc 😅 be a miracle if I don’t get it either.

troppibambini6 · 22/03/2022 16:53

I got it then 4 days later ds tested positive then 10 days after he tested positive dd tested positive.

Ds tested positive on Monday with a PCR after showing symptoms on Saturday evening, then dd on Tuesday on an LFT. We are hoping beyond hope that we don’t pick it up too; we’ve already had it but it was a year ago so not holding out much hope.

Changes17 · 22/03/2022 17:36

Probably caught it on Saturday, tested positive on Tuesday, first family member tested positive the next Saturday, the second on Sunday and the third not at all.

GeneLovesJezebel · 22/03/2022 17:36

3 days.

sweetzy · 22/03/2022 17:37

Me Friday and partner Monday. Both had symptoms the day before the positive.

LynetteScavo · 22/03/2022 17:41

A week.

WithASpider · 22/03/2022 17:58

We had it over Christmas.
DH had symptoms on 21st, positive on 23rd. Me and DD1 positive 24th. DD2 positive Christmas Day.
DS didn't catch it at all.

It really seems to vary.

Yourinmyspot · 22/03/2022 18:50

Got my answer DH tested positive this afternoon. So I don’t hold out much hope I will escape it but you never know.

I don’t hold out much hope as I feel rubbish this evening temp of 38.3, freezing cold and head and face ache.
