Thank god!!!! Back to normality and no more insanity and having life dictated by numbers or tests that are being proven to be a bunch of codswallop

thunderonlyhappenswhenits · 09/02/2022 13:59

Can't wait ! We need to get back to normal now and carry on with our lives

Yeahthat · 09/02/2022 14:05

Great news. What makes it even more enjoyable is knowing that the petty tyrants and would-be controllers who've been getting off on limiting others' lives will be furious. They've lost. Life's going back to normal and there's nothing they can do about it.

The next step is for the government to introduce legal protections for people in case any employers, local authorities etc attempt unjustly to introduce their own restrictions.

Has the Coronavirus topic been scrapped too?

reasonably lighthearted

Giveronyoursausage · 09/02/2022 14:09

How many threads about this now.

MrsDThomas · 09/02/2022 17:08

Wales is way behind with the times.

But lucky you!

The COVID topic space should definaetly be deleted on the last day. Good idea

I feel for those who are vulnerable. While the healthy celebrate it’s a scary time for the vulnerable

HelenaHandcart0 · 09/02/2022 19:29

Yay! At last!

Totally agree …
SparkleTwinkle101 · 09/02/2022 19:36

It's scary for those of us who are vulnerable especially loosing the comfort that those in their most infectious wouldn't be spreading covid around an unventilated office. It's also putting pressure on those who actually do get sick to still come into work even if they are feeling too unwell to do so

This. Plus, being sick of covid won’t actually make it go away. I hope people remember not everyone can just ‘get on with it.’

GinIronic · 09/02/2022 19:38

I shall keep WFH and wearing my mask. Nothing will change for me - I’m still vulnerable.

OldMMC · 09/02/2022 19:38

Just spoken to my vulnerable colleague. She's just had her fourth vaccine but very pleased we live in Wales.

Benjispruce5 · 09/02/2022 19:39

It’s only because Boris is trying to distract us all from his rule breaking. Open your eyes!

Benjispruce5 · 09/02/2022 19:43

What happens when everyone is sick at the same time? What’s to celebrate? I can’t wait for life to be now but this seems far too soon. Independent SAGE have reported that more children than ever ate in hospital with Covid at the moment, more than in the first wave. It just doesn’t make sense.

So true.

And for those delighted to be back to normal....really?

Our schools are a mess, riddled with COVID. Really high staff absence, long COVID, many ill children, school and part school closures. Children's education is so hugely disrupted.

This can only make it worse.

GreenClock · 09/02/2022 19:55

I’m broadly in favour of restrictions ending, but this announcement is obviously intended to divert attention from the lockdown shenanigans at Number 10.

Wizzbangfizz · 09/02/2022 19:57

Not before time.

Fedupsotired · 09/02/2022 19:59

@HallieLA nope as everyone will be working still rather than being at home. I'm guessing it's one of the reasons that they are scrapping stuff so teachers crack on regardless

Morechocmorechoc · 09/02/2022 19:59

Terrible idea. They should have waited at least until Easter. Isolating for 5 days when you have a nasty disease shoukd be common sense anyway

Exactly what I was going to say! He’s getting away with it again.
User3456 · 09/02/2022 20:07

Anyone who thinks this is going to get us back to normal is sadly mistaken. Getting repeatedly sick is not normal.
Hearing of kids on their third infection already (and poorly with it). I can't understand how people are ok with kids catching this over and over again when there are simple things we can do to mitigate against it.
We need to learn to live with covid and that includes reasonable measures to limit transmission whilst still being able to do the things that are important to us.
And to the people saying Boris Johnson is doing this to distract from partygate - you're spot on.

no, not if we no longer get paid to!
Franklin12 · 09/02/2022 20:13

It’s great news. Too much skivving going on and people claiming them have covid, covid symptoms etc.
