How long did you feel rough after Covid?

I'm on day 12 now so technically over it. I had a couple of days where I felt really quite poorly but rest of time was just very tired and headache / difficult to concentrate.
But now I still feel exhausted and a regular very chesty cough. Feel worse now than I did a few days ago. Is this just part of the general recovery ?

Dunno but I'm on day 5 and desperate for this to be over now

SaintVal · 16/01/2022 12:08

Watching with interest. I'm similar to you OP - I'm day 15 and the headache was there again this morning, the pain woke me up. And still having coughing fits and low energy. I was only really unwell for two days at the beginning.

dahliaaa · 16/01/2022 12:12

@SaintVal that does sound very similar

I went back to work after there weeks, but felt rough for three months.

timestheyarechanging · 16/01/2022 12:30

Still feel rough after testing positive 29/11. Sooooo tired and achey but cough has gone and sense of smell/taste is returning thankfully.
Partner ended up in intensive care for a week at the same time and is still poorly. He can't walk for more than 10mins before becoming breathless (doesn't smoke) and we are both exhausted most of the time. It's awful but we are thankful as a friend, 46, didn't make it. We are 50 and 55. We were both double vaccinated when we fell ill but thankfully because we had mild symptoms at the start, didn't attend a family gathering so fortunately didn't pass it on to anyone.
Wishing anyone suffering a speedy recovery.

dahliaaa · 16/01/2022 12:30

Did you just pace yourself during that time and get as much rest as you could ?

OP posts:
timestheyarechanging · 16/01/2022 12:31

Oh, and we both still get those awful headaches a couple of times a week.

timestheyarechanging · 16/01/2022 12:33

Yes, rest was yes, lots of rest, to be honest we couldn't do much!

dahliaaa · 16/01/2022 13:20

Thanks everyone. I'm so glad was triple jabbed. Have been working from home but back in office full time from tomorrow but will try and pace self

I only had a few days feeling terrible then felt tired and headachey. I went back to work on day 10 feeling quite good. But quickly became very achey and tired. That lasted two weeks (work was a real effort), then was fine. So 4 weeks in total before I felt 100%.

dahliaaa · 16/01/2022 18:00

That's useful to know user

Day 7 for me and I'm slightly better
I slept 12 hours last night plus two naps today and a lot of lying around but also managed to cook lunch. Improving a tiny bit every day.

rosie1959 · 16/01/2022 18:08

Only on day 2 but no particular symptoms have felt a bit shivery at the odd time weird illness but nothing to stop me carrying on as usual at home
Husband on day 4 has had cold symptoms and felt tired but still able to work Daughter similar

FrostyGirl66 · 16/01/2022 18:09

I'm not vaccinated and only had 4 days of headaches and feeling tired then was back to normal.

LostFrog · 16/01/2022 18:13

I’m only on day 2, dh on day 5 and i think if we could just sleep it off would be fine but puppy makes that impossible!

@dahliaaa are your LFTs negative now? I just wondered whether you still technically had it or whether you could have picked up something else??

Marchitectmummy · 16/01/2022 18:18

It's a strange illness, we were ill for a few days and thought we were better. That was 5 weeks ago and since then our girls are fine but husband and I have been on and off having symptoms, coughing, headaches and unable to walk more than a couple of miles without feeling tired. We were both very sporty prior to covid but struggle with more than a game of badminton since.

dahliaaa · 16/01/2022 20:32

@Marchitectmummy I've heard similar from a few people anecdotally. Fingers crossed it passes over next couple of weeks.

@LostFrog yes I did an LFT yesterday and was negative

7 days of feeling awful from my positive lft. High temp, sweats, muscle pain, chills, breathless, exhaustion, loss of appetite and slight cough. Tested negative on day 6 surprisingly but still felt rough. 14 days now and feel good, fine from about day10. DH was about a fortnight before he felt better. It floored me and haven’t felt that unwell since proper flu in 2001 which knocked me out for 6 weeks. (Not saying they are alike just how they affected me).

cakedelight77 · 16/01/2022 20:51

@FrostyGirl66 get vaccinated! The fact you say so lightly I just had a headache a bit and hen I was fine....other people get it a lot worse and you are more likely to be spreading it around unvaccinated!!
Shame on you! Sort yourself out !

AColdDuncanGoodhew · 16/01/2022 20:54

I'm day 4 and feel awful, hoping it starts to break soon. My kids were poorly for 1-2 days and now they're bouncing off the walls desperate to get out. Reading with interest.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 16/01/2022 20:55

I went back to work (from home) after four days not including the sat and sun before I had it so day 6 but I had difficulty concentrating and no taste and smell for a while after. Also felt tired for a while.

Shame on me? This is the problem with society now. When unvaccinated (from covid) are shamed and made to have the weight of covid solely on their shoulders.

I have to take a LFT most places I go because I'm not vaccinated, so I know I'm not infected. As a vaccinated person, and therefore not required to present a negative test, can you say the same? I'm less likely to pass on covid (if asymptomatic) then a vaccinated person because I'm testing more frequently.

The poster asked for peoples experience - I gave mine. No where did I belittle other peoples experience and say no can get it worse.

JanglyBeads · 16/01/2022 21:53

Just to balance up the thread, I felt pretty fine after about day 7, and coped fine with returning to work on day 11. )This was delta in October)

SassenachWitch · 16/01/2022 22:02

I’m on day 13, started testing negative on day 11, I still feel pretty rough, neon green snot 🤮, chesty cough, not a headache as such but my face feels heavy, and I’m so so tired. I’ve probably slept for 30 hours out of 48, but I’m still absolutely bone tired.

The good news is, the hot & cold sweats have stopped and I’m not waking up with coughing fits anymore.

Everyone else that I spent Christmas with that had covid, were done & dusted within 5 days, they only really had slight tickly coughs.

oldtableleg · 16/01/2022 22:05

apart from a runny nose (which seemed to go on for weeks) I was completely back to normal by day 7, pretty much fine on day 5 & really only felt ill on days 3 & 4.
