Just that really.

OP posts:
Workyticket · 30/12/2021 21:18

Bit late to tell us if not but that wouldn't bother the government

I think there'll be local closures due to staff shortages but not whole country ones

I'm in FE and I worried we'd go back to teaching online but there's been nothing said and I'm hoping not

QueenJeanie · 30/12/2021 21:18

As long as they have access to sufficient LFTs (secondary) then yes

Scarby9 · 30/12/2021 21:19

Yes.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 30/12/2021 21:19

Yes, I don't believe the government will tell them to close but there may be closures of individual schools due to staff shortages.

Dozer · 30/12/2021 21:19

Bloody hope so

AppleKatie · 30/12/2021 21:19

Yes

TheKeatingFive · 30/12/2021 21:20

Schools status as 'last to close first to open' is well established by now. There's a long way to go before a nationwide school shutdown is on the cards.

WakeUpLockie · 30/12/2021 21:20

Yes I think they’ll go back.

Not too late to tell us though, last year kids round here went back for 1 day and then lockdown/school closure was announced.

Swearwolf · 30/12/2021 21:20

Yes. They waited until the day before we went back to tell us last year, but I remember the mood being really different and we still had all those restrictions over the Christmas period. We're not in the same place as we were then.

canary1 · 30/12/2021 21:21

As normal as anywhere else will be- so staff sickness will cause disruption but it should be short lived

PinkWaferBiscuit · 30/12/2021 21:21

Yes they will all go back as normal no LFTs needed. I'm a primary supply teacher and I've already got bookings for next week due to staff being off sick with covid. I suspect I'll be just as busy as I was last term covering absent teachers.

Pinkchocolate · 30/12/2021 21:21

Yes, we’re nowhere near that stage.

LynetteScavo · 30/12/2021 21:22

Absolutely- nightclubs etc would close before schools.

Hellocatshome · 30/12/2021 21:22

Yes. I think if they dont there is something very very wrong with our Governments priorities. Yes allow schools to close individual year groups/classes if a particular school has a staffing problem but national school closures must now be avoided at all costs.

stayathomer · 30/12/2021 21:23

In Ireland and 20, 000 people tested positive today. We have a population of about 5million. I want them to go back in one way, in another if they do I'll feel the government have let us down

scully29 · 30/12/2021 21:24

Last year they waited till wed been back a day before deciding so I doubt they will decide for a while yet.

Anjo2011 · 30/12/2021 21:24

I do yes . I think they will remain open if they possibly can but I do expect disruption due to the need for self isolation.

NiceTwin · 30/12/2021 21:24

Staggered start at our school to enable testing.
Whole school will be in on Thursday, apart from those who tested positive of course.

stayathomer · 30/12/2021 21:24

Absolutely- nightclubs etc would close before schools.
They'd be closing schools to keep the kids safe not to stop the spread surely?

nordica · 30/12/2021 21:25

Yes but there will be lots of staff shortages at least all through January if not longer.

Porcupineintherough · 30/12/2021 21:25

As normal no. I think they'll open and there will be a lot of disruption.

MrsWalrus · 30/12/2021 21:25

I teach, and it was looking a bit iffy just before we broke up. But I do think we will be back, although we have a staggered start too.

Explosivefarts · 30/12/2021 21:26

Yes Nicola Sturgeon has already confirmed schools will go back as normal in Scotland .

takemebacktothe80s · 30/12/2021 21:26

In some ways I hope they do. I was ill before Christmas and still not right. I could do with another week of holidays.......

PrivateHall · 30/12/2021 21:27

Yeah as others have said, I think they will open as planned however there will be local closures due to staffing issues - much like many other services etc. There will be a lot of disruption in general over the next few weeks I should think, but we will come out the other side again. Some local shops were closed here today due to no staff, I would imagine this will become fairly common for a few weeks. Tough times ahead for everyone (yet again!).
