Had a PCR two days ago as have a cold and wanted confirmation before Christmas with all my family. Came back void the next morning. Went for another PCR as soon as I could which was yesterday afternoon and I just feel like I know it won't be back in time for when we were supposed to head down to my families tomorrow. I hope I'm wrong but I feel like I'm just sat around staring at my phone waiting to see if my Christmas is cancelled or not Sad anyone in the same boat Sad

Have you done any lat flows? How have they come back?

Orangedaisy · 23/12/2021 15:09

I had one yesterday 1030 and I’m still waiting. Seems that everyone apart from me gets them in 18hrs 😢

Iggly · 23/12/2021 15:09

Was it drive through or postal?

Our drive through ones were quicker - most was 30 hours but postal took 3 days

Orangedaisy · 23/12/2021 15:10

Mine was drive through

rosesarereddish · 23/12/2021 15:12

Lateral flows all negative. Both of us got tested and he came back negative and I came back void, I'm 6 weeks pregnant and really sick and struggled with the throat swab so just did my nose so I'm guessing that's why. I did another one literally just to be safe as my dad is in his nearly in his seventies and has diabetes. Just feel like I've ruined it for myself now as if they aren't back I can't really risk going as just imagine I get the text while I'm there that I am positive Sad

It was drive through, 2.30 yesterday.

My one that came back void a few days ago was at 12.30pm and got the result at 4.30am, so less than 24 hours. The fact it's already been longer this time just makes me think there must be christmas delays and it'll be ages Sad

If you don’t have symptoms and your lateral flows are negative, can you not just go anyway?

rosesarereddish · 23/12/2021 15:15

You can try calling 119 to check that the test has been properly registered (you'll need the barcode from the test centre). I had the same problem as you and they verified that my test had been registered on their system. Although they said they couldn't access the result it came through 10 minutes after I called. It could have been a total coincidence but maybe it moved something along?! Good luck x

FlamingGoat · 23/12/2021 15:17

I had a positive lft and went for a pcr yesterday at 1.00. Nothing back yet and work aren't too happy I'm off .

incywincyspiders · 23/12/2021 15:17

I did one on Tuesday and I'm still waiting for the results 😭. I don't think they are going to come back either 😢

rosesarereddish · 23/12/2021 15:20

I didn't think 119 would humour you until I had been atleast 3 days?

I was 2 and a half days and have sisters wedding tomorrow so thought it was worth a try.

Ring them anyway and feign ignorance.
eldycha3 · 23/12/2021 15:26

I tested negative at 8am on Monday and then by 2.00pm I tested positive n I'm quite poorly now ...I started with cold symptoms but also chest pain and in my arm so was taken to hospital in case was heart attack , did all tests and was confirmed I had Covid

LefttoherownDevizes · 23/12/2021 15:28

Also waiting, LFTs negative but sore throat/coughing/achey/hot/cold/bone tired. PCR drive through at 8am today, need the result by midday Christmas Day.

Hope yours comes back soon

BluebellsGreenbells · 23/12/2021 15:29

A lot of people on here have booked PCR tests to BBC heck they are negative prior to meeting family at Christmas without having symptoms …. Hence the delays.

I get genuine people need to know, but others are abusing the system.

For what it’s worth, where I am they have stopped PCR tests for all except travel requirements - paid for and hospital admissions - free.

LFT positives need to isolate until they have two negative LFT 24 hours apart and registered. Some could see the end of isolation early. If still positive after day 7 they can book a PCR test but I assume if still positive it’s another 7 days isolation.

This is the government quietly removing itself from the cost and responsibility of Covid.

Businesses must no bear the brunt of workers being off sick and no doubt form their own Covid policies. I’d be wary of some businesses not following recommended guide lines but as it has no basis in law I doubt there’s much anyone can do.

Siameasy · 23/12/2021 15:37

Lat flow is negative - go. You almost certainly have a cold. Ask your dad what he thinks. Is he jabbed?

rosesarereddish · 23/12/2021 15:38

Just phoned and they guy said they've gone from doing 400k tests a day to over 1.4 million so they are extremely busy and will not investigate until it's been over 72 hours. He said to phone back on Christmas Day if we haven't had them Sad

That’s shit. But not surprising. Now the decision is up to you what you do.

Youngatheart00 · 23/12/2021 15:47

I’m in the same boat OP - had mine yesterday at 8am and anxiously waiting. We are supposed to be travelling tomorrow morning and not sure whether to pack or not. Like you I have cold symptoms but had a positive lateral flow 3 days ago followed by negative tests ever since. Just at a loss

HURRY UP NHS

Sunshineandrainbow · 23/12/2021 15:47

DD had drive through PCR Tuesday at 13.30 and result back 6am today.

Kshhuxnxk · 23/12/2021 15:50

Lolled at him being nearly 70 - you do realise you'll likely still be working at that age - 69 is not old! The diabetes angle I do get though!

gggrrrargh · 23/12/2021 15:52

I recently did a PCR test because I had a small occasional cough, felt fine otherwise. I was due to go to theatre in 2 days and had to know.

The person I was going with was a little cross in case it didn’t come back in time and I was putting the trip in jeopardy. A few others said trust in the lft negative result and just go.

As it turned out I got result in 24 hours and it was positive (glad I didn’t go to the theatre!!)

You’ve still got time to get result back and you’ve done the right thing checking. Fingers crossed for you it comes back soon.

Plumbear2 · 23/12/2021 15:57

My son's took 4 days.
