Had a PCR two days ago as have a cold and wanted confirmation before Christmas with all my family. Came back void the next morning. Went for another PCR as soon as I could which was yesterday afternoon and I just feel like I know it won't be back in time for when we were supposed to head down to my families tomorrow. I hope I'm wrong but I feel like I'm just sat around staring at my phone waiting to see if my Christmas is cancelled or not Sad anyone in the same boat Sad

[waves arms ferociously] me! Waiting on DC2s PCR. She had it yesterday and no result yet. It it doesn't come back by tomorrow AM we can't go to my mum's and Christmas is ruined. Currently in the middle of a house renovation, have no living room (so no tree) and no kitchen (so no oven). Arrrrrggggghhhhh!

SockFluffInTheBath · 23/12/2021 16:07

DS had one done 10am Tuesday, got the result at 4:15pm yesterday. Fingers crossed OP.

Orangedaisy · 23/12/2021 16:12

@SockFluffInTheBath thank you for a good news story on the turn round time. Gives hope!

elephantoverthehill · 23/12/2021 16:17

@bluebellsgreenbells may I ask where you are? Ds2 tested LFT positive today. I drove him to the PCR testing place at about 2.00, NHS website said there was availability but it was all shut up.

CharlotteRose90 · 23/12/2021 16:26

It’s shit. I had mine at 3pm yesterday I. The drive through one and currently waiting. Feel like shit and I’ve got a meal booked on Christmas Day. Hopefully we all get the results un time.

RobinPenguins · 23/12/2021 16:28

My brother and sister in law had them done on Tuesday afternoon and got the results yesterday morning. Maybe it’s location dependent?

eitak22 · 23/12/2021 16:33

Posted mine Tuesday afternoon, now been 48hrs and no sign. Doubt it'll come before Christmas :(

Notme34 · 23/12/2021 16:58

Hi OP, just come to add I’m in the same boat too.

DP and I went for PCR tests Tuesday afternoon. They told us we should have results within 48 hours - it’s been 51 now.

It’s really shit because the result is what will make or break Christmas isn’t it Sad

rosesarereddish · 23/12/2021 17:29

Fingers crossed for everyone in same situation.

Still nothing here Sad

We are in the same boat for my son's test results. I don't want my elderly parent to be on her own again this Christmas so am praying for a negative result ASAP. I don't think it will be though, my gut feeling is rarely wrong.

OnceuponaRainbow18 · 23/12/2021 17:42

Mine on tue took 18 hours SW England

SpringheelJack · 23/12/2021 17:48

Not us, but MIL. She went for a test this morning and seems confident we'll know by lunchtime tomorrow. She's a nurse, so I guess they would prioritise her... maybe? I just want to know! I can cope with either answer, I'd just like it to be unequivocal. There's family drama and I don't want to get stuck having to make a judgement if it's not back in time and we have to decide...

Notme34 · 23/12/2021 17:53

How annoying would it be to not get our results back by Xmas then it comes back negative on Boxing Day...

It’s better to be safe though. I’ll be seeing elderly relatives and would be so upset with myself if I put them at risk.

The pan won't know that she's a nurse, so she won't be prioritised on that basis, unless she's had the test done through work?
Eyerollsausageroll · 23/12/2021 18:00

Those over 18 that are awaiting results have you checked your nhs app? My covid pass changed to say I had a positive pcr before midnight but I didn't recieve the email and text message until 0700hrs.
Worth a try.

GiltEdges · 23/12/2021 18:00

Lab* even 🙄

rosesarereddish · 23/12/2021 18:01

Just done another LFT each and both negative still. And we had the one negative PCR and one void when we both had the same thing. Part of me wants to just go but then I feel like I need both PCRs back to be safe Sad

I don't know. There's an outbreak on her ward, so feasibly she did do it through work. The last couple of postal ones I've done there was a question when registering about whether you were an essential worker - not done an in-person one for a long time, do not sure if they ask similar - or why! Just clutching at straws. Be nice to think they'd fast track it and I could know if I need to run and buy the last turkey in Sainsbury's tomorrow!

Yeah it asks for the drive through tests as well, but it's made no difference to mine - I ticked it because I am and I'm still waiting
Muchtoomuchtodo · 23/12/2021 18:35

I’m NHS staff

The one I did at the public health drive through site organised by work took longer to get the result than the subsequent ones that I’ve done at our local walk through centre.

Fingers crossed you all get results one way or the other through soon. It’s the not knowing that’s worse I think.

ChequerBoard · 23/12/2021 18:43

Did mine at a drive through test centre at 10;30am yesterday and revived my result about 30 mins ago.

Negative!!!

Yay!!!!

Orangedaisy · 23/12/2021 19:10

Just got mine, so 1030 drive through Wednesday 22nd and (negative) result appeared at 1800 Thursday 23rd. Still feel rubbish but I guess half of us have to be the half with non covid colds! Fingers crossed everyone else gets them in time, despite the waiting I am very glad I got the test.

eitak22 · 23/12/2021 19:13

Hate how unfair the testing system is. Had to post as no walk in and still not results over 48hrs later.

I just want to know.

Iwantitidontwantit · 23/12/2021 20:56

There could still be a chance of hearing op. I did a walk through pcr test yesterday at 5pm and got my (negative) results at just gone 2pm today.
