Govt plans re unvaccinated feels like a change is afoot

Anyone noticed the govt and news sources seem to be covering more and more stories regarding the unvaccinated (by choice)
I feel they might be ramping up support for restrictions for unvaccinated people.
It's feel very much like propaganda and warm up the masses.
Anyone agree or noticed this in the last 3/4 days?

In Wales we're being warned screens, one way queuing to get into shops is returning ASDA is gearing up this week

Whammyyammy · 21/12/2021 22:46

Don't think the UK government need to do anything, the travel restrictions on unvaccinated imposed by U.S, EU etc will do the trick. Before long the UK unvaccinated will not be able to travel abroad, so it will be a choice of stay in the UK or get vaccinated

MummyPop00 · 21/12/2021 22:48

@beingsunny

Yes fingers crossed for you of course.

NSW is showing - especially with it being a Covid blank canvas pretty much until very recently - that the idea that the vaccine seriously stops spread is somewhat dubious.

AnotherOneWithNoGoodName · 21/12/2021 22:49

@Dollymantra

Yep I’ve heard about lockdown for the unvaccinated and also NHS charging for their care should they become unwell.

I would definitely support

Not enough resources to police the first one, and very much disagree with the second (although am extremely pro-vaccine and don't care about covid passports).

Yeah, that’ll stop omicron in its tracks Hmm
@XenoBitch - Yeah, I'd love to get some land somewhere remote with other like-minded people who just want to live a laid-back, simple life. If I ever do then you're invited!
I would so do this.

EmmaOvary · 21/12/2021 22:54

"Just had a look at 95% vaxxed New South Wales, Australia.

Yes, the vaccination rate certainly stopping spread there I see."
@MummyPop00

3000-odd daily cases...we are on nearly 100,000 a day here.

XenoBitch · 21/12/2021 22:55

@BlaBlaSmthSmth

Oh gosh, yes please

Tealightsandd · 21/12/2021 22:56

We should never pick and choose who gets care. We should never discriminate. Every person is an individual who deserves to have a choice.

Now this I do agree with you on. Nobody should be denied treatment.

My suggestion re the new Covid drug treatments is simply that, right now unfortunately there will be a lot of people denied access. Because we don't have nearly enough for all who will need them. Nowhere in the world does yet.

So, there will be rationing. Unfortunately. I'm inclined to think, whilst not denying care, if we must ration these new drugs, those hesitant over taking new drugs won't mind being further down the list for these new treatments. (Obviously this is separate from people unable to have vaccines for genuinely medical reasons including like Xeno severe phobia).

Many people have said they're reluctant to take the vaccine because it's a new drug. Presumably they feel the same hesitancy about the equally new treatments.

But of course I don't condone denying anyone treatment. And I really really wish we didn't have to ration any of it. I look forward to the future when there'll be more availability (worldwide).

Right. Definitely off to bed. You have a lovely day tomorrow too.

😁 thanks.

The way some people are behaving, I would genuinely get on a plane with you right now 🙈😂

MummyPop00 · 21/12/2021 23:00

@EmmaOvary

3000 a day at the moment. Lot of dry tinder there though in terms of Omicron cases possibly running riot, prudent to keep an eye on it.

Let's all make a pact here, if the shit hits the fan we'll all wander off together and create our little utopia 🤝

beingsunny · 21/12/2021 23:03

@EmmaOvary we have a NSW population of 8 million, as opposed to the uk having 68 million, so proportionally, given our low starting numbers we aren't doing well at all.

29 November 144 cases
22 Dec 3,763 cases

The r number is pretty wild right now for such a highly vaxxed population.

And yes the majority of us are in sydney but it's ripping through the regions too,

I’ve discussed at length with DP about where we could go if things continue the way they are going.

Yes, definitely! Getting quite excited by the idea now. No passports of any kind required. 😊

YES! Can we all meet up and have a load of hugs? I really need that right now!

EmmaOvary · 21/12/2021 23:06

@beingsunny vaccination isn't a silver bullet, but without it, what would the numbers be? And the deaths?

BelleHathor · 21/12/2021 23:09

@Rocaille

I don’t think polls like YouGov are accurate btw

When Good Morning Britain did a twitter poll on mandatory vaccines, 89% of respondents were opposed.

Yeah, they had to scrap the debate section on the show and deleted the poll! Restored my faith in the Great British public as the typical GMB viewer isn't exactly radical.
beingsunny · 21/12/2021 23:10

@EmmaOvary I'm sure far far worse, I feel very fortunate to be living somewhere with such a high vax rate.

I think there needs to be a stronger media narrative on the reduction in hospitalisation and death with vaccines. It's glaringly obvious it isn't stopping the spread and unvaxxed people keep harping on about how that vaccine doesn't work as you can still get it. That's obvious.

I mean, I personally don’t really DO hugs, but, perhaps for this I’ll make an exception? Lol

I love a good hug! I've been watching "Nativity" on a loop all month with my son (😭) and it's got a quote in that I love so much "cuddles make it all go away" ❤️
