Govt plans re unvaccinated feels like a change is afoot

Anyone noticed the govt and news sources seem to be covering more and more stories regarding the unvaccinated (by choice)
I feel they might be ramping up support for restrictions for unvaccinated people.
It's feel very much like propaganda and warm up the masses.
Anyone agree or noticed this in the last 3/4 days?

@CoastalWave

I find it weird that women who insist on the right to abort babies ( my body my choice) are SO against other people maintaining the right NOT to inject something into their body.

If your triple jabbed jab isn't protecting you, how on earth is my jab going to magically do the job for you?!

This a thousand times over.

And as for abortion not affecting society, as another poster said......well it has affected the 8 million + aborted babies, hasn't it. Have a Cake

CaliforniaDrumming · 21/12/2021 16:42

If Jewish people on here can express their disgust at vaccine passes being compared to Stars of David, may I express my disgust at posters on here displaying their faux concern for ethnic minority groups being disproportionately affected? And using them as a shield to cover for the fact that perhaps they haven't been vaccinated? Ethnic minority groups aren't one homogenous category anyway. There are certain groups where the uptake is very high, others where it is not. It is in the interest of all to get vaxxed, though, given we are more affected by diabetes and heart disease.

userperuser · 21/12/2021 16:42
No data cited.
Cornettoninja · 21/12/2021 16:44

@NearlyAlwaysInsane 8 million aborted babies are currently clogging up hospitals and ICU’s are they? Neither are the women who terminated them. It affects no one else indirectly.

Honestly, drop this argument. It’s ridiculous and the worst kind of lazy deflection.

ilovesooty · 21/12/2021 16:44

@KurtWildesChristmasNamechange

If people unvaccinated by choice want to maintain that stance they need to be restricted from optional activities if that's what is required to prevent lockdown being a continuing threat for everyone.

Does that include stopping them from going to work too? Good luck watching the country literally grind to a halt.

I said optional activities. I thought my post was quite clear. I'm surprised that you appear to have trouble understanding it.

If you're talking about me, calm your jets.

I am fully vaccinated, as I mentioned above.

And I asked a question. Are people comfortable with a policy which will disproportionately affect certain ethnic minorities? It's a valid question, surely. Even if I'm still waiting for an answer.

bumbleymummy · 21/12/2021 16:46

@Starcup

*Could you post the stats on this? What majority? Could be anything from 50.1%*

They haven’t released the data yet and that’s part of the problem but it’s been reported that’s the major are unvaccinated.

Even if it is a marginal majority, that’s significantly more, considering more than 85% of the population are vaccinated.

ICNARC released it in their recent report. In November, 48% of icu patients were unvaccinated, down from 75% in May.

www.icnarc.org/DataServices/Attachments/Download/e7be23e7-695f-ec11-9139-00505601089b

Please note, this is actual percentage, not rate and does not mean that unvaccinated people are at lower risk of ICU admission, before the usual suspects come on to try to ‘correct’ me Hmm

Starcup · 21/12/2021 16:46

@Alarmset

Number of people in hospital with Covid is not the same thing as number in hospital for Covid.
Exactly!
tenredthings · 21/12/2021 16:47

Yes they will bring this in and then blame Johnson. It's clearly all part of the plan for him to go. He can take the flack but the restrictions will stay.

CaliforniaDrumming · 21/12/2021 16:48

@IcedPurple yes, I am perfectly happy with a policy that affects certain ethnic minorities for optional activities like going to the cinema, theatre, gigs and so forth. They can get the vax like the rest of us ethnic minorities.

bumbleymummy · 21/12/2021 16:51

@ilovesooty so it’s just about ‘punishing’ people rather than trying to stop spread/reduce risk to NHS? Well, at least you’re honest!

userperuser · 21/12/2021 16:51

Thanks bumbleymummy that’s interesting.

This 👏👏

BellaChagall · 21/12/2021 16:55

I now support restrictions for the unvaccinated. My industry is decimated. I need my income and my life back.

Good find.

48% is still significantly high and goes to show the 10-15% of the unvaccinated are almost on par in terms of hospital admissions as the 85-90% that are vaccinated.

If anyone sees 48% and thinks cool, it’s even, they need a crash course in basic stats.

KurtWildesChristmasNamechange · 21/12/2021 16:58

Oh no I fully understood what you meant @ilovesooty, I just wondered if you realised how ridiculous you sound? By your standards you'd be ok with an unvaccinated nurse taking your blood pressure, but not sitting at a table in a restaurant. Have a word with yourself.

CoastalWave · 21/12/2021 17:00

No. You're missing the point and it's not lazy deflection in the slightest. Just the uncomfortable truth for people like you.

If a women is ALLOWED to kill an unborn baby SIMPLY BECAUSE the foetus is in her body and for whatever reason she doesn't want it, then you cannot FORCE other people to inject something that THEY DON"T WANT INTO THEIR BODY.

Some spectacularly thick people on this thread tbh. You can't have it both ways!!!

If vaccine is forced, I would say the abortion argument of 'my body my choice' goes flying right out of the window.

Only 52% have had 3 doses.
ErrolTheDragon · 21/12/2021 17:02

I'm happy with any policy which may persuade and enable people, whether in ethnic minorities or not, to stop heeding antivax propaganda, and get themselves protected.

Right? It's so bloody condescending to say, in effect: You are more likely to die of Covid but god forbid we persuade you to get vaxxed, because actually you are too stupid and conservative to comprehend the benefits. But everyone else can!
CoastalWave · 21/12/2021 17:06

isn' it!!!

I don't think anyone is complaining about people being 'persuaded' though. It's the coercion or force that they're objecting to.
