... I just think he is amazing and so straight talking. He knows his stuff and seems down to earth. I love the way he handles the questions from the press and concentrates on the task in hand.

He’s the only one I care to listen to. Very fond of him! Brilliant man

hugoagogo · 15/12/2021 18:37

He is a total joy. Maybe I should stop avoiding the press conferences, I am missing him.
The rest of it is so annoying though.

gogohm · 15/12/2021 18:37

@the80sweregreat

He's a professor, something he earned! Definitely trumps sir.

gogohm · 15/12/2021 18:38

He was at school with my dp, serious chap then apparently

WoodenReindeer · 15/12/2021 18:38

I tend to "do" the press conference if he is on in order to hear him. I trust him. Dont trust the politicians.

LubaLuca · 15/12/2021 18:40

I'm in agreement. He's intelligent and straightforward, which makes him a great communicator. He speaks in facts that are easy to understand, and doesn't shy away from unpleasant truths.

StarryNightSparkles · 15/12/2021 18:40

I love Chriss Whitty, he has been my calm through the storm. I think once we are truly through these times him and Patrick will bring books out about the pandemic. I will be first in the cur to buy them or to buy tickets for there evening with tour.

RudeRide · 15/12/2021 18:42

@NightmareSlashDelightful

Apparently, last Christmas he quietly spent the Christmas weekend doing rounds in the respiratory ward in a hospital, dealing with patients. By all accounts a lovely, lovely man.
I love my husband but..... if CW were a few years younger.... Grin
Ethelfromnumber73 · 15/12/2021 18:44

My friend is an infectious disease consultant and knows him. Really lovely guy apparently

SirSidneyRuffDiamond · 15/12/2021 18:45

I remember when his father, Kenneth, was murdered back in the 80s. It took me a while to realise Chris was his son. I always think Chris's measured responses are honest, yet reassuring - just the right tone.

AD80 · 15/12/2021 18:48

I like him but I feel like he always looks so sad 😪

donquixotedelamancha · 15/12/2021 18:48

He looks like someone who doesn't have a lot of fun!

I imagine he probably hasn't for the last couple of years.

Tuliptulip · 15/12/2021 18:51

I’m famous in my family for loving CW - he’s just a grown up in a sea of vacuous nonentities. He also has a tragic back story as his father was murdered in a case of mistaken identity when he was a child, which makes me admire what he has achieved even more.

RB68 · 15/12/2021 18:51

such a beautiful soul, so much good, so much kindness and so much common bloody sense and good old fashioned real scientific knowledge. I hope he does get recognition for his contribution in some way - not sure it would ever be enough. He will go down in history

duvetdayforeveryone · 15/12/2021 18:51

I agree.

Chris Whitty, if you ever read this I truly wish you and your family a very merry Christmas!

TooManyPlatesInMotion · 15/12/2021 18:52

He seems totally committed to public service. He's admirable and has put up with a lot of shit. Kudos to him, esp as he has to work with BJ.

Babyfairy0923 · 15/12/2021 18:52

Oh I agree, I think he’s brilliant.

toomuchlaundry · 15/12/2021 18:52

@SirSidneyRuffDiamond that is so sad, I didn't realise he had that family history

ZippyZap · 15/12/2021 18:53

He comes over as genuine and I'd put my trust in him over Boris any day!

IHateCoronavirus · 15/12/2021 18:54

I’d love him to teach me stuff, over a nice cup of tea.

Movinghouseatlast · 15/12/2021 18:54

He is amazing, someone who comes across as truly a good person.

the80sweregreat · 15/12/2021 18:55

Yes, I would love Chris Whitty to be a mums-netter, (but I imagine he isn't !)
His alias name would be something in Latin or very clever!!
I doubt he even knows it exists .
Maybe someone should tell him ?

rainrainraincamedowndowndown · 15/12/2021 18:56

Yeah, he sounds very decent and sincere.

DoubleHelix79 · 15/12/2021 18:58

I've worked with him a few times. He is incredibly smart, committed and only speaks when he genuinely has something to say. I wish there were many more people like him.

girlmom21 · 15/12/2021 18:59

He's the only person I've trusted the whole way through this pandemic.
If he's recommending we do something I have genuine faith that it's for the best.
