... I just think he is amazing and so straight talking. He knows his stuff and seems down to earth. I love the way he handles the questions from the press and concentrates on the task in hand.

He's been a rare shining light of hope during these grim times. JVT too. I respect them both hugely. So lovely to see that many feel similar :)

camperqueen54 · 16/12/2021 20:26

Love him. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

twinmum2007 · 16/12/2021 20:38

I love the way He's perfected expressing the sentiment 'this man (boris) is a complete cockwomble', without actually saying it!!

BooneyBeautiful · 16/12/2021 21:03

@rubyglitter

There’s something about him that creeps me out. I can’t quite put my finger on it. I think it’s his blank stare.
My son spotted, almost immediately, that he hardly ever blinks! Now, when I watch him on tv, I keep looking to see how often he blinks and then I don't focus (excuse the pun) on what he is saying! I do agree with everyone, however, that he is a very clever, calm man who has been an absolute asset during the pandemic.
Bangolads · 16/12/2021 21:05

Yes!! Complete integrity

SallyWD · 16/12/2021 21:10

I agree. He's been the only person I've really trusted throughout all this.

fuzzywuzzywombat · 16/12/2021 21:12

I think he keeps very calm under the stress of being stood next to some knob heads who only care about money rather than people
I trust him

smilingontheinside · 16/12/2021 21:19

He reminds me of a friend of mine. He is an older gentle man. He is calm and measured and kind but does have a dry quite cheeky sense of humour. Some would find him possibly boring but I think he is one of the nicest men I know.

Seahorsemama · 16/12/2021 22:21

@the80sweregreat

Not a sir, unlike that diva very rich man ,Lewis Hamilton :(
Yeah I’m puzzled by the guy.. trying to work out what part of Stevenage his American accent comes from. But Mr Whitty is a top guy who does not get embroiled in the nonsense from the PM
Sparklingbrook · 16/12/2021 22:44

Yeah I’m puzzled by the guy.. trying to work out what part of Stevenage his American accent comes from

Confused What's that got to do with anything?

MrsFin · 16/12/2021 22:47

I'll bet Whitty pays his taxes in the U.K. too, unlike Sir Lewis Angry

Wineandroses3 · 16/12/2021 22:58

Yep I agree OP I think he’s a class act. Always comes across cool as a Cucumber! X

LuluBlakey1 · 16/12/2021 23:01

I do also very much like JVT but found the football metaphor last week incomprehensible Grin

LuluBlakey1 · 16/12/2021 23:02

I don't think either of them are anyone's person but their own either.

Notenoughchocolateomg · 16/12/2021 23:21

I absolutely adore Chris Witty. He's a wonderful human being.

CelestiaNoctis · 16/12/2021 23:40

Well done for being good at your job I guess... our government is that dire that this shocks people.

Touchmybum · 17/12/2021 02:32

How he must despair over BoJo!!

beenthereboughtthetshirt · 17/12/2021 02:53

everytime i see that Poundshop Churchill stood next to him i focus purely on Chris Whitty.

StargazerAli · 17/12/2021 09:08

He seems very uncomfortable in front of the camera and really doesn't deserve the criticism and insults thrown at him. I always feel sorry for him.

Changecountetextraordinaire · 17/12/2021 09:16

A man of intelligence and integrity. The kind of person we need as PM. I despair that many seem to place 'personality' above intelligence and integrity in a politician. Quiet strength is seen as 'boring'

This thread restores a bit of faith [Grin

MoggyP · 17/12/2021 10:04

This thread has been quite useful if you want to spot political leanings

www.bbc.co.uk/news/blogs-the-papers-59692442

DM headline 'Tories turn on Whitty'

And it is heartening to see how, on MN at least, the hard-hearted who want an end to all restrictions are a (vocal) minority. And the number who listen to the scientist the greater

Santina · 17/12/2021 10:36

He certainly was thrown in at the deep end with public appearances, but steps up to the plate and delivers every time. He certainly deserves his title of Sir, unlike others that get it just for playing sport. Also the lady that developed the vaccine, she delivered a David Dimbleby speech, fascinating. Thank goodness we have people like this in the world.

KrispyKale · 17/12/2021 10:37

I have watched her speech and really enjoyed it.

Bertiebiscuit · 17/12/2021 10:50

Yes! I trust him. Which is a lot more than I can say about all the other lying hypocrites we've been lectured by, during covid - I think he actually does what he tells us to do, which shouldn't be rare, but really is right now

Jux · 17/12/2021 10:52

He reminds me of my dad. Very old school courtesy, would never wittingly upset someone and always reasoned.

(Did you see what I did there?!Grin)
