... I just think he is amazing and so straight talking. He knows his stuff and seems down to earth. I love the way he handles the questions from the press and concentrates on the task in hand.

@SergeiL

Honestly. Direct your frothing anger in the appropriate direction. I.e. the lying, cheating, hypocritical Tory government.
Yup!

He works for the government and is very much involved in politics whether he wants to be or not.

Pensieve · 15/12/2021 22:49

Most of the opposition party aren’t even involved in politics 😂

I knew his mother! I only realised the connection earlier this year.

Carinattheliqorstore1 · 15/12/2021 22:58

He’s a bit busy just now to be faffing around getting knighthoods. He’s got more pressing issues to be getting on with.

My favourite Chris Witty meme

Theredjellybean · 15/12/2021 23:20

@Mummytotwonow
The BBC.. Where I watched Chris wittey say those exact words.
And then on the same page of their reporting are the daily statistics.
You can go and look for yourself.
I'm not frothing with anger, I'm just not fawning over someone who seems to be contradicting statistics which I think are from ons... But happy to be corrected on where these daily figures come from.
If you are going to tell the country hospitalizations are up 10% week on week, you need to evidence this..

Theredjellybean · 15/12/2021 23:22

I've been back to bbc site... Figures come from. Government dashboard... Surely CW must be seeing these

Imdreamingofapeacefulxmas · 15/12/2021 23:26

I can't understand how Dr jenny harries once again gets to say... We are in peril, don't mix.

Theredjellybean · 15/12/2021 23:27

@ancientgran

If you can read my comment properly I said - 14, that's minus 14 on yesterday.
The figures are from gov. UK. Dashboard
The governments own published figures.
These are on BBC site daily, as is three month trends, daily cases etc.
Hence my bafflement on CW saying something completely at odds with these figures

ancientgran · 15/12/2021 23:32

@Lockdowninfinity

He’s on my dinner party list - sitting next to Winnie Mandela
I hope she doesn't bring any neclaces.
Whattochoosenow · 15/12/2021 23:52

He’s much better than the wittering dentist we have in Scotland.

@Againstmachine

Out of date and false are 2 entirely different things - so the later modeling showed different projections. What's to say the next update to the modelling would have shown a better or worse projection? You make the best decision you can on ALL the data in front of you at the time you have it, not just a small snapshot. You clearly have no idea what you are talking about.

Using out of date data when upto date data is available is lieing and falsyfiing facts.

why did the statistics authority get involved. Do they have no idea what they are on about as well.

Stop being so pretentious and see whats in front of you false facts were used.

Yes, newer data was available but you don’t take it out of context. It is added to the overall dataset. So you have 72 projections over a period of 5 months and they are all saying the same thing, you then get one that differs - so your saying you should just take that one in isolation and ignore everything else??? Glad your not CMO. I’m not being pretentious, I’m availing you of my knowledge in this area. My knowledge didn’t come from a Google search, it comes from a first class honours degree, a PhD and 25 years in medical science. I’ll leave it there.

Statistical models aren't facts!

Thank God for Chris Whitty. I’ve spent all day wondering what to do for the best but after hearing what Chris Whitty has to say everything is crystal clear. I’m following his advice. If only we could replace Boris with a prime minister of Chris Whitty’s choice.

Yes,he is articulate,knowledgeable and clear in his messages.I suppose everybody would look fantastic and articulate next to that bumbling BJ who thinks the hairdressers are still closed.

Tiredout123 · 16/12/2021 06:38

He's a good egg

Lennybenny · 16/12/2021 07:10

@Iamnotamermaid

Why did they not give this man a knighthood, he definitely deserves it, and instead bestow it on that tax dodging, prima donna Lewis Hamilton who does not even live in this country.
Please Google him and his charitable work. If he's in the UK, he's taxed on it all and wouldn't be able to do half of what he does for charity.....and who wouldn't leave the UK if you had that sort of money? Half the rich people in the UK use some form of tax evasion tactic whether it's moving money in accounts or changing status on cars and houses or using family as staff to dodge something.
EvilPea · 16/12/2021 07:56

@Octavia174

I don't like him, the UK has not handled the pandemic well and he has never criticised BJ, not over Cummings, late lockdowns, shaking patients hands, herd immunity or even last years parties.

So i'm not really sure of his impartiality, after all, BJ approved his appointment.

I think that makes me love him more. For keeping out of the politics and sticking to his job.

Although I’d love to know his views

I think this is the evidence of hospitalisation increasing by 10%.
From the government’s coronavirus dashboard.

Another fan of Chris Whitty here. He has done an amazing job throughout the pandemic and continues to do so.

I think this is the evidence of hospitalisation increasing by 10%

The Government dashboard updates the numbers positive and the numbers of deaths on the day. There is a lag for numbers admitted, and the most recent figure on the dashboard is from 11 Dec. Plus of course the lag between testing positive and and needing admission - roughly a week, but variable.

So the numbers admitted as a result of 15 Dec big increase in numbers won't be arriving in hospital much before 20th, and won't be on the dashboard until 25th

Well, if he backs someone who is making the wrong decisions, i don't see how that is "doing his job"

Although I’d love to know his views

You don't know? His views are what he tells us surely! if they are not, then the logic is that he is up there lying.

Bet you've not actually watched a briefing for ages
