I’m so against covid passports.
How can they be effective when omicron has managed to travel all around the world despite all travellers having covid passports?
It’s just rubbish and I’d love to know why governments seem to think it makes sense.

I'm not sure 'hurrying up and saying no' has much effect. Those people who have said no in France, Italy, Austria, Germany, New York etc etc etc don't seem to have achieved what they wanted.

I love the idea of the unvaccinated as some kind of noble victimised freedom fighters. Off you go and revolt. Overall there is majority support for vaccination passports in most of the countries that have implemented them.

For me a vaccine passport is a bit like making a one sided contract with the government. Do as they ask in order to be “allowed” your freedoms and you don’t really see the problem with them. Until they ask something you’re not comfortable or with, like endless vaccinations that haven’t been tested based upon being administered every 3-6 months or vaccinating your children as the only way for you and them to have access to life. It’s hideously dangerous and people MUST see it for what it is. It has no scientific reasoning so why is it necessary? People in the U.K. are not vaccine hesitant as a nation, over 80% of those eligible happily volunteered to be vaccinated.

I went to an Arena concert on Saturday. Had to show the covid thing on my phone. But in reality you could just take a screen shot of someone else's. There was no checking it was actually you. Quite a few had printed them onto paper.

Vaccination passports are the gateway to digital passports and a digital economy - that’s why governments across the globe want them

Given large proportions of society ate I'm retail, hospitality etc then what difference will working from home.make? That's a relatively small group of people isn't it. What's the point of them staying home then going out to their secind jobs in a bar or delivering pizza or cleaning. What's it achieved.

Unless they are sending everyone home again besides essential workers?

What's video came out?

If you're not vaccinated you don't go into non-essential shops, restaurants, cafes, cinemas, theatre etc. Should have been doing that from the start.

I don't think it is that severe. It is just large events that you'd need to prove you're vaccinated.

I'm against Covid passports but only occasionally use hospitality venues so it won't be any hardship not to use them at all. I have had all three of my jabs but wonder if it was worth bothering now

It’s really sad living in a country which has the passport in place. Every single last person I know now scrambling to find a booster appointment are doing so ONLY so they can still go to a restaurant or go on their ski holiday after the deadline in mid January when all passes older than 7 months are automatically cancelled.
Can’t anybody see that this is so wrong?

Personally I wish to wait before double vaccinating my teens but this means they can’t go to sports clubs or with us to a restaurant unless we subject them to an uncomfortable covid test which now lasts only 24hrs.
As an end of term treat, one of my DC was invited to go to see the new Spider-Man film. The ticket is €6, the Covid test he has to have so he can be allowed into a cinema is €25 and an uncomfortable hour out of our evening before to get him a negative test. And he will be negative as he always is because he’s had covid already and so despite many exposures has never been able to catch it again. It’s all utter bullshit and I’m so angry at these assholes all laughing at us!!

The vaccine passports might not do much in themselves but they send a message that might impact on behaviours - one of the problems after "freedom day" has been the attitude that covid is now over and we're back to 2019 life. Things like masks and vaccine passports will be a constant reminder that it's not.

But then the general public has largely misunderstood what scientists mean when they talk about "living with covid".

Serious question. What is the point of vaccine passports? Am I right in thinking that if you're vaccinated (I am and will be boosted tomorrow) it makes absolutely no difference to your ability to pass the virus on, just to hopefully, how sick you get if you do catch it?

So is the theory that if 'the unvaccinated' aren't allowed to attend anything, then they reduce their chances of getting sick?

Or is it just that they're trying to make not being vaccinated so restrictive that is forces people to get vaccinated?

Well, I'm in France too and couldn't disagree more with Lostinacloud. France's cases have been low for months and have only equalled the level the UK has been having for months in the last week or so, thanks to vaccination + wearing masks + passe sanitare. Neither have our school spent the whole term allowing children just get infected and have lost few school days. Hopefully with needing three shots for the pass from Jan 15 and upping the mask mandate cases will start to descend again as we see happening in Germany and Austria.

Here is France you basically need the pass for anything fun - not for day to day necessities like going to the shops, to schools, to the doctors.

Any thing that reduces transmission helps. In France 89% of the population over 12 has been vaccinated, driven in part for the need for the pass. I'm not wasting much sleep over the needs over the remaining 11%. who won't protect themselves, either by vaccination or avoiding crowded indoor places.

@TokyoSushi In my opinion it's to try and make your life difficult if you are unvaccinated so you'll be forced to be vaccinated if you want to do these things .

Vaccine passports are a ludicrously expensive and inefficient way of sending a public information message

I don't really care about passports etc..... I took part in a vaccine trial and I am now considered fully vaccinated, and for the majority of us it won't make any difference will it? Maybe I am being naive, but I am just fed up with all the fighting, arguing etc.... amongst us all in society.

The government are wankers, but alas we are stuck with them until the next election, so why can't we all just keep ourselves to ourselves and stop all the divisive stuff just for a while. I'm tired of it all, I just want a nice Christmas with my family.

@650above France’s cases were low because it was summer and on the downturn of a previous wave. It is now winter and just like everywhere, the seasonal winter respiratory illness that is Covid has returned with a vengeance, the vaccine passport has had nothing to do with it.
And you might not need to lose sleep now but what about when the 5th booster made you quite unwell and actually you don’t really want the 6th one. Well tough because your pass will be cancelled if you don’t have it.

Just look at New York, now kids aged over 5 included in vaccine pass for entry. It will happen everywhere even if it creeps in slowly unless we hurry up and say no!
If they are really intended to help stop spread then why is testing as an alternative being removed more and more?

I would happily get my three year old vaccinated once it's approved for his age group, so that's fine by me.
