Just been announced. But what will this entail I wonder. 🤔

Mask wearing was reintroduced simply to soften us up for plan B

@LittlestLightOnTheXmasTree

Who catered this party they supposedly had?
BYO Cheese?
LittlestLightOnTheXmasTree · 08/12/2021 18:07

Just thought caterers/bar staff may have squealed before now

Can't have been much of a party with nobody to provide the canapés!

2389Champ · 08/12/2021 18:16

With apologies to Little Britain.

Couldn't disagree more with your first paragraph. I'm not finding it sad at all, it's fine. It's made some people overcome their reticence to be vaccinated, it's not a big deal.

I agree. I liken it to all those people that decide a company is bad because of something they read on the internet and they and shout BOYCOTT - until that thing they really want can only be bought there at a price they can afford then suddenly their hard held belief disappears.

CovidMakesThingsHard · 08/12/2021 18:51

@bizmum1
Yes cos a dirty rag is going to stop a killer virus. Maybe the 'twats' you're referring to have realised that wearing face nappies is not going to make a jot of difference and it's actually dreadful that kids are being made to wear them in school.
Masks need to go

If you or your children every god forbid need surgery, make sure to tell the surgeon not to wear a face nappy as it does nothing…..
You are right about a fabric mask doing fuck all, we should be like other European countries making their general public wear an FFP2 inside and out.

CovidMakesThingsHard · 08/12/2021 18:52

I completely agree that they can’t say ministers etc are excerpt from covid passes and 2 day travel PCRs. Most idiotic thing was seeing the minister or MP come back from India when it was at its peak, go straight to work and bring down others. And he went to a fucking primary school the next day. That’s why no one listens

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 08/12/2021 18:55

You want people to wear masks outside? And if we have to wear FFP2 masks who's going to be paying for them? I'm certainly not paying £9.99 for 5 single wear masks (Boots).

GoldenOmber · 08/12/2021 19:06

we should be like other European countries making their general public wear an FFP2 inside and out.

How well’s that working for those other European countries?

SickAndTiredAgain · 08/12/2021 19:37

all of our children now wear masks for outdoor playtime and PE.

Children in France wear masks for PE, even outside? Have people lost their grip on reality?

Lostinacloud · 08/12/2021 19:47

I don’t quite know what to do @SickAndTiredAgain Sad
I don’t think children in France should be wearing masks at all to be honest and the new requirement for them to wear them during outside PE has enraged me so much I want to pull them out of school. But of course it’s not that simple and at the moment they still have ‘masked’ and recorded Christmas shows and class fun days for the end of term so it would be a shame for them to miss that when last year they had nothing.
I just wish I could find enough parents of the same mindset so we could get together and try to change it but it’s so bloody hard to know who’s who in the playground. We’ve all seen it on here, most people are too scared to speak out against anything or they’re called an antivaxxer. I’ve got thick skin and don’t give a single shit about that but not everyone is the same.

LaplandLucy · 08/12/2021 19:47

Gosh it’s just to BORING at this stage. Wah wah vaccines don’t even work (they do), they don’t reduce transmission (they do), loads of vaccinated are getting covid and in hospital (basic statistics explains why), vaccine passports don’t work (where’s the counter factual to prove this?) wah wah wah.

Same old nonsense. No point in even engaging with posters anymore. It’s the same old usernames moaning and whinging about how scary it is to have a preventative measure to try prevent us going back into a lockdown. We’re in the middle of a pandemic.

I have zero time for people choosing not to get vaccinated and subsequently whinging they can’t do anything fun now because their choice has - consequences!! Who would’ve thought it.

Oh and to counteract all the fertility/period nonsense - nearly 5 years TTC , 6 rounds of IVF, zero pregnancies. 2 covid vaccines - 2 months pregnant.

Stop the scaremongering.

BruceAndNosh · 08/12/2021 19:47

The moment someone uses the term face nappy, you know they haven't a clue

XingMing · 08/12/2021 20:20

I think most of this party angst and anger is rubbish. The press office dummy-ran a theoretical media conference, and there was a great deal of silly chat, about a putative office party (which has not been proved to have taken place) so there may be more smoke than fire. Tasteless, yes; insensitive to the public mood, absolutely, but flagrant ignoring of rules is unproven.

Lostinacloud · 08/12/2021 20:23

@LaplandLucy congratulations on a difficult road to pregnancy. I genuinely mean that.
However, when you have your perfect baby in your arms in a few months time, just take a moment to reassess your thoughts now you are a parent and therefore totally responsible for the health and well-being of your child. Then we will see how comfortable you feel about vaccinating your child with a vaccine that has been tested on so few young children so far the FDA in the US have commissioned a 5 year post authorisation follow up study to determine the myocarditis risk to young children from vaccination. Then maybe you will understand those of us “waah waaah waaahing”

Lostinacloud · 08/12/2021 20:25

Also lucky you. I had one vaccine and have had two periods per month ever since. GP couldn’t care less.

MerrilyFcked · 08/12/2021 20:26

@Lostinacloud

I am almost certain LaplandLucy will be vaccinating her child like millions of us have. I definitely don't have any understanding of the ones of you "waah waaah waaahing".

I will be getting a booster vaccine while I am pregnant and I certainly will be vaccinating my child based on scientific evidence. I am already aware that myocarditis occurs in higher numbers in children who catch covid compared to those who are vaccinated and that it is temporary. Indeed my niece and nephew are both getting their covid vaccine soon at ages 5 and 7 as has been approved in my country. My family thankfully all have common sense.

Thankfully most of the public disagree with you.

No one announces an inquiry into something that didn't happen nor do you resign your job over a mickey take mock up Q&A of a party that never took place.

LaplandLucy · 08/12/2021 20:34

ps thank you for your well wishes but how patronising to assume I don’t understand the situation as I’m not a parent.

IfNot · 08/12/2021 20:35

Um…How does that counteract anything?? You are basically agreeing that the jab probably messed with your hormones! Happy outcome for you, but if you had been menopausal for 2 years and suddenly got a 16 day long period you might feel differently!

LaplandLucy · 08/12/2021 20:37

No the vaccine did not mess with my hormones at all. The vaccine had no impact on fertility and no viable mechanism through which it can effect fertility.

This is my point. Someone can say the vaccine made me infertile. I can say it made me fertile. Neither are true. The vaccine has nothing to do with it.

IfNot · 08/12/2021 20:37

And on the point of vaccine side effects: when I hsd COVID I got an email asking me for a list of my symptoms. I never got a request for my symptoms after having the vaccines ( and I did have hormonal symptoms) it’s almost as though no one cares about the medical effects on women…

Lostinacloud · 08/12/2021 20:37

Wasn’t meant to be patronising but your life and ideas change to quite some degree after children so it’s a valid point.

You said- 6 rounds of IVF, zero pregnancies, 2 vaccines- 2months pregnant? So you are implying that the vaccines had something to do with that?
