I actually think it’s quite scary and a bit strange the amount of people who are happy to have their human rights taken away.

For the record I’m fully vaccinated and I think that the vaccine is brilliant, but it is a medical procedure and I don’t think people that have made the decision not to have said medical procedure should then not be able to participate in society.

This is not at all normal, I can see the hospital beds are getting overwhelmed but this is likely because of viruses that haven’t been able to run through the population normally are making people very poorly.

Which means that this will happen every winter forevermore if we don’t let humans, vaccinated or not just get on with life.

The reason the hospitals are overwhelmed Is probably due to the fact that they are trying to catch up with all the missed procedures due to the pandemic.

Mistyplanet · 03/12/2021 06:34

I agree OP nothing is making sense. Germany making vaccinations mandatory and banning the unvaccinated from shops and bars is the last straw for me. This is NOT ok.

Allaboutyou222 · 03/12/2021 06:35

It’s not clear what ‘human rights’ OP is talking about. If you’re talking about the HRA, there are a number of articles contained therein. What ones do you think are being breached in the U.K.?

chocolateorangeinhaler · 03/12/2021 06:39

@TheSandgroper

I don’t get it. You know there are people in iron lungs, don’t you? When Salk and Sabin came on the market, I don’t think anyone asked about human rights. They just took the first vaccination offered to them.

You do know, don’t you, that polio hasn’t died out? It’s just held at bay. Look around you. How many people with it do you see? Do you not realise that everyone who follows an approved vaccination schedule from birth receives a vaccination for polio? And diphtheria? And a whole heap of others? Look up post-polio syndrome. Some of the effects can be life long.

You are living your comfortable life safe because others before you did the hard work. Now, it’s our turn.

This !!
frumpety · 03/12/2021 06:40

Are you talking about the UK @NearlyDown ?

Which human rights are being taken away in the UK ?

Rosiiiiie · 03/12/2021 06:45

Going to the pub or the panto isn’t a human right though?

You do realise no constitutional right is absolute and all rights have limitations?

Absolutely this
SequinsandStiIettos · 03/12/2021 06:48

"they" will soon have us carrying ID card with us everywhere we go

Ooh, scary...apart from all the countries who already have identity cards. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_national_identity_card_policies_by_country

ichundich · 03/12/2021 06:54

Yawn. There're already tons of threads about this. And by the way people also have a human right to be protected from a serious disease that is preventable by means of a vaccine.

cookiemonster2468 · 03/12/2021 06:55

Oh do be quiet

This argument doesn’t help. Half the issue is that Covid is fairly benign in the half the population. Many young people won’t even know they have it. So it’s not a bit like polio or measles/ mumps etc.

Immaculatemisconception · 03/12/2021 06:57

Not another thread on this! 🙄

Hmmmwhatnametochoose · 03/12/2021 06:59

Oh fucksake. It's because of the vaccine denier stupids that we are in this situation.

ForTheLoveOfSleep · 03/12/2021 06:59

Oh yes OP. Loosing that wonderful human right to... erm... 🤔

TheSandgroper · 03/12/2021 07:01

Polio is fairly benign among a lot of people, too. But whole populations were scared.

Mrbob · 03/12/2021 07:05

Do you call a tetanus vaccine a “medical procedure” too?

And your grasp on science is somewhat tenuous. People with COVID are filling hospital beds because it can be a dangerous disease

chaosrabbitland · 03/12/2021 07:11

@Boatingforthestars

I agree too OP.

I saw on the news yesterday that Germany wanted to ban unvaccinated people from shops or restaurants. This is slowly turning into a dictatorship, and the scary thing is we have been gaslighted into thinking this I'd normal. Some people are actually calling for things like this to happen, who in their right mind wants people banned from shops because of their choices about their own body.

To all the people saying its because of the pandemic, do you not watch the news? Deaths are down, hospitalisations are also down, so why the hysteria?

That's without me even getting started on covid passports, all the conspiracy nuts have been saying for years "they" will soon have us carrying ID card with us everywhere we go, we aren't too far away from that now with covid passports.

exactly this and iv seen many posts on the german thread with mumsnetters saying they would be all for this goverment doing the same to unvaccinated here , fucking unreal , this goverment rules by instilling fear , the minute they start issuing mandates again , vast members of the public obediantly comply again , it is turning into a dictatorship , and we are being ruled by tyranny ,

i had my vaccine but i strongly disagree with people being forced to have it by stealth , and when people are getting told they will lose their jobs if they dont have it , now in some countries cant even go to non essential shops if they dont have it , that is tryanny , no matter what these muppets all in favour of it whine oh they arent being forced they just have to take the consequences , yes they are forcing people by taking away their basic freedoms unless they have it ,and it shocks me so many would happily see it done here ,

a lot of these conspircy nuts refer to these people as sheep , mindless idiots is how i prefer it , cant reason or think for themselves , happy to be ruled by bloody fear , and yes a lot of the things the conspircy theorists predicted are coming true ,

i actually got barked at when i got on the bus yesterday because the hysterical bus driver couldnt see my daughters exemption lanyard under her blazer lapel , started carrying on at me he had to be able to see it , im not exempt neither is she , we just bought them , im not going back to wearing a mask again , i refuse to comply , if theres another lockdown fair enough i cant go to places that are shut , but i wont be staying in to only go out once a fucking day to buy food ,i will still see friends and family as i wish

Platax · 03/12/2021 07:14

@milkyaqua

Do you not read the news? Deaths are not down in Germany, they are rising, and hospitalisations are definitely not down, or they would not be considering these regulations.

And, for what it's worth, our infection and hospitalisation rates aren't down. Yesterday we had the highest number of new infections since July.
Platax · 03/12/2021 07:15

@countrygirl99

A lot of ghd overcrowding in hospitals is due to lack of carers not covid. My dad spent 24days in hospital, 11 of those were waiting for a care home place to be found. Now, just a few weeks layer, colleagues a work colleagues mum is in exactly the same position. She only needed to be in hospital a couple of days and it's coming up 2 weeks.
But 75% of those in ICU wards are unvaccinated covid patients.
Draggondragon · 03/12/2021 07:16

But humans are by their nature, organised into societies. Do human rights mean that anyone can do anything they want regardless of the consequences for others? Personally I am glad I live in a country with laws and expectations that citizens do what they are asked. Most of the people I encounter who bang on about rights are lucky to have just made it into the category human in my opinion Grin had a great conversation with someone the other day who genuinely believes pharmaceuticals, Bill Gates etc. He smoked 2 joints while pontificating. Yes because the people the Taliban forced to produce that are fair trade right?

user1999952776 · 03/12/2021 07:17

What rights have been taken away? It’s pretty hypocritical to reap the benefits of vaccination then complain about it encouraging others not to don’t you think? Especially if you’ve had other vaccination too.

Anythingbutsnow · 03/12/2021 07:22

Surely the answer to an overwhelmed NHS isn't to lock us all up though. Why not just put more money into the NHS to improve it? Would have been a better use of furlough money.

The quarantine camps in Australia are also v scary. Makes me wonder if people had started to speak up more about concentration camps in the Holocaust would they have been labelled conspiracy theorist or would they have been taken seriously and saved thousands of lives? That's the reason I think we need to give people like OP a fair hearing.

ThatParent · 03/12/2021 07:24

Mistyplanet Are you willing to stand in hospital and be the person who decides which patient gets treated and then explain to the family of the patients who don't make the cut why you made that decision?

Hiheyho · 03/12/2021 07:26

Why are you comparing polio death rate with a covid one?
