Are you really prepared to take every single vaccine

It worries me that we may have to keep having vaccines going forward. I’m due my booster which I will take but I’m hearing that AZ are in the process of tweaking the current vaccine to combat the new strain. So we are then required to take another booster. Many variants can crop up, suppose another one does very soon. I’m concerned about the number of vaccines we could be taking. Is anyone else? And no I’m not an anti vaxer.

No I wouldn’t. I stopped after the first jab due to side effects. But I had already had Covid anyway.

hoodathunkit · 30/11/2021 09:12

I recently had my 3rd jab (booster) and would happily have a 4th ASAP if a different vaccine was offered to provide a "cocktail" of antiviral goodness.

I appreciate that all vaccines carry some risks, however the risk vs benefits calculations (given the plethora of diverse opinions) make rolling up my sleeve a no brainer.

For anyone interested in following the money trail behind some of the vile, money hungry grifters behind the anti-vaxxer movement Channel 4 have made a really useful documentary

@Platax

Vaccines given to children isn't for their direct protection but for ours!

And yet over 3000 children died in England alone during the first year of the pandemic. And 69000 are dealing with long covid. Weren't they entitled to protection?

Well if that were true, then you would be entirely correct but its actually 25 ( healthy children) in the UK over the entire pandemic and as only offered 1 jab, its hard to be certain what those numbers would be otherwise. Vaccines don't stop anyone getting CV, so long covid is still an issue.

Of course the vulnerable should always be offered a vaccine but the point still stands is that this is a vaccine offered to children for our protection, not theirs.

DameFanny · 30/11/2021 09:22

@IWishIHadNotDoneIt what's your basis for calling the vaccines experimental?

DameFanny · 30/11/2021 09:24

Well said @hoodathunkit

DameFanny · 30/11/2021 09:26

@Northsoutheastwest76 I've got one of those too Sad

Toty · 30/11/2021 09:28

It's a no from me. The vulnerable have their vaccines, all 3/4 of them. If that's not enough to stop people dying then we need better vaccines.

Furngully · 30/11/2021 09:30

I do get what you mean, you would like to think at some point the vaccines we have had would be effective time against all variants. I'm nervous about getting the booster now as 5 months pregnant and there isn't the research to be able to say how safe it all is. Pre pregnancy the vaccines messed up my cycles terribly so I am anxious about the impact they would have to the baby.

Northsoutheastwest76 · 30/11/2021 09:33

@DameFanny I have have 3 but least two of them can be hidden on Facebook as not that close.

fournonblondes · 30/11/2021 10:09

I am distressed and extremely angry about the situation

Same here but for different reasons. People must be able to question and this situation has been politicised. Time will tell.

fournonblondes · 30/11/2021 10:11

You talk about greed. I agreed except that for me vaccine money is the greed.

NotQuiteFinishedYet · 30/11/2021 10:20

Yes, I will. Just like all diseases that are now controlled or in some cases completely irradiated by vaccine, it's the sensible thing to do to protect ones self and others. TB, Dipthyria, Measles, Polio, etc.... all far less of a danger, due to vaccination e and innoculation

hoodathunkit · 30/11/2021 10:25

@fournonblondes

I just wondered about your thoughts about the excellent channel 4 documentary I linnked to earlier

I tried to get my anti-vaxxer former friends to watch it but they have been so brainwashed by the anti-vaxxer movment that they refuse to watch anything created by mainstream media, preferring instead the disinformation sources relating to David Icke, Piers Morgan and the other usual nodes.

I would very much value your opinion on the documentary if you would like to share it :)

hoodathunkit · 30/11/2021 10:25

Doh, not Piers Morgan, brain fart, Piers Corbyn, (is embarrassed)

If I were Piers Corbyn, I'd be embarrassed, too.

Just wondering, to those who say you will 'take your chances', if you should end up with Covid because of your refusal, will you also refuse to take up vastly overstretched NHS hospital resources, or will you just 'take your chances' at home? Not being goady, would really like to know.

LittleoldTERFy · 30/11/2021 10:44

Ive had both vaccines but this did make me laugh..

Are you really prepared to take every single vaccine
NotQuiteFinishedYet · 30/11/2021 10:51

Thanks for the link to the Times piece. I'd missed that. Says it all really.

I'm double jabbed but don't want a booster as I'm still unwell from my second jab. Yes I would rather die at home than have to be jabbed every 6 months. Currently I'd rather take death than live for the rest of my life with mandatory jabs, repeated threat of lockdowns or restrictions, vaccine passports etc. Where will it end...
Oreo78 · 30/11/2021 11:08

I have been double vaccinated and I think that is sufficient atm. Evidence coming from South Africa is that those who have been fully vaccinated are relatively safe from Omicron. They are just experiencing headaches and extreme fatigue, but not needing to be hospitalised. But we need to wait a few more weeks to get more concrete data on this variant.

I know I have an awesome immune system, so I am not worried. If I am offered a booster I would rather they send it to vaccinate someone in the third world.

Skinnytailedsquirrel · 30/11/2021 11:10

@Viviennemary "I had the booster and had a horrific headache and was extremely tired and very very sore arm. The way I feel at the moment is no more vaccines for me."

Poor you, that sounds absolutely hellish. Better than dying though eh.

ErrolTheDragon · 30/11/2021 11:11

If I am offered a booster I would rather they send it to vaccinate someone in the third world.

Unfortunately, that's not how it works though, is it.

PurpleDaisies · 30/11/2021 11:14

I know I have an awesome immune system, so I am not worried. If I am offered a booster I would rather they send it to vaccinate someone in the third world.

They’re not doing that though.

I’ve had this dilemma. The world’s response to vaccinating poor countries has been abysmal. Utterly abysmal.

Me declining a booster will make no difference to that but it could make me more likely to end up going to hospital here which would have a bad impact on the nhs.

Whether omicron is more or less severe than delta is a bit of a red herring. We have high levels of delta here now.

DSGR · 30/11/2021 11:15

I’ve had vaccines and felt a bit rubbish and I’ve had Covid which completely floored me. And scared me.
Of course I will take the vaccines
