Are you really prepared to take every single vaccine

It worries me that we may have to keep having vaccines going forward. I’m due my booster which I will take but I’m hearing that AZ are in the process of tweaking the current vaccine to combat the new strain. So we are then required to take another booster. Many variants can crop up, suppose another one does very soon. I’m concerned about the number of vaccines we could be taking. Is anyone else? And no I’m not an anti vaxer.
@Benjispruce5 death from Covid is unlikely even if you’re in a high risk group.

@Freedom from death” is impossible as we are human and all going to die. I’d prefer to live first rather than all this hysterical hiding out
How does having a booster vaccine stop you from living?

PurpleDaisies · 28/11/2021 15:57

I felt rubbish after jab two. So did dh.
That doesn’t mean either of us will be declining a booster.

I don’t think pretending everyone feels essentially fine after a vaccine is all that helpful.

Blinkingbatshit · 28/11/2021 16:00

I think we’re just going to have to get used to it🤷🏼‍♀️, and yes - I’ll take each update when I’m allowed it.

Benjispruce5 · 28/11/2021 16:00

Who’s says everyone feels fine? It’s totally expected to feel a bit off. Just like babies after their jabs- you give them Calpol for a day or two.

Battenburg77 · 28/11/2021 16:01

@ravenmum

This is really what I'm afraid of here; that even if people do have the vaccine, and maybe the booster, not enough will do so, so the virus will continue to flourish and mutate. Then it will still be around next autumn, by which point people's vaccinations will no longer be effective - and even fewer people will get re-vaccinated. Meaning that this time next year, numbers will be just as high, or higher.

The lockdowns seriously affect my income. I'm living partly off savings - don't qualify for support here: my only option would eventually be to give up and become unemployed.

Scary that so many people are avoiding vaccines just because they got a headache.

The virus will flourish and mutate regardless unfortunately. Highly vaccinated countries are still having spikes. Coronaviruses are just too slippery to contain when they've become endemic.
whoopy1 · 28/11/2021 16:02

@Viviennemary

I had the booster and had a horrific headache and was extremely tired and very very sore arm. The way I feel at the moment is no more vaccines for me.
I had my booster and flu vaccine on Friday. I didn’t feel well afterwards either with a headache, sore, hot and swollen arm that had booster in and feeling out of sorts (still not feeling great). Not sure if it’s because I had them both at the same time. However, I think that this is a small price to pay for some protection against a Virus that has killed 145k people in the U.K. and over 5 million worldwide. I will definitely have future boosters when they are offered.

My friends mother, wouldn’t have any Covid vaccines. She contracted Covid and died on Tuesday.

nzborn · 28/11/2021 16:02

Absolutely

DeliriaSkibbly · 28/11/2021 16:03

Why wouldn't you ?

I fail to see the logic in your question OP

CustardySergeant · 28/11/2021 16:04

@Lucia574

I’ll gratefully have every vaccine going. I have the flu jab, which is tweaked annually and usually am up to date with hepatitis, yellow fever, rabies etc for long haul travel. Why wouldn’t I have this one too?
That's how I feel. I had my flu jab yesterday in fact. My booster (3rd) Covid jab will be on 9th December. I wonder if some people's reluctance is no more or less than a fear of needles and they look for a reason other than that to justify not having a vaccine.
AcrossthePond55 · 28/11/2021 16:04

I'm a senior and I'm triple Pfizer'd. I had side effects that knocked me for a loop with the 2nd & the booster and was in bed for 24 hours with chills, aches, flu-like symptoms. I will still get whatever boosters or new Covid vaxxes that are recommended by US authorities (ie Dr Fauci et al) and are safe for me based on my own doctor's advice. 24 hrs of discomfort is better than being hospitalized, on a ventilator, or dying of Covid. Or spreading the disease to people who will end up hospitalized or dead.

I also routinely get my flu shot, as well as vaccines for shingles and pneumonia. And my tetanus booster. Why on earth wouldn't I?

'Mass' vaccines are not new. I remember standing in line with the rest of my town for the polio 'sugar cube' back in (IIRC) '60/'61. No one was screaming and freaking out back then over a bunch of conspiracy theories or 'freedoms'. Everyone wanted to be protected from a deadly disease. I remember standing in line with my schoolmates to get the 'routine' vaccines available in the early '60s (smallpox, tetanus, diphtheria, et al) from the school nurse. Parents back then weren't yanking their children out of school in horror, they were happy we were being protected.

As a child, I saw polio. I saw iron lungs. I saw schoolmates die of childhood diseases that today are 100% preventable with vaccines. I saw a niece born with disabilities caused by her mother having rubella. I don't ever want to go back to that.

Barbie222 · 28/11/2021 16:05

Yep! Let's get this behind us asap

MapleMay11 · 28/11/2021 16:06

No concerns at all. I've had some vaccines that have made me really ill - coronavirus vaccines are nothing in comparison.

Iloveallofthem · 28/11/2021 16:09

Absolutely. Why not.

ravenmum · 28/11/2021 16:09

The virus will flourish and mutate regardless unfortunately. Highly vaccinated countries are still having spikes
But their spikes will be lower, and the rate of mutations slower.

OP is complaining about the rate of mutations, while saying s/he's not going to do the one thing that would slow that rate.

In other words, OP is planning to help keep the virus mutating quickly, because she's fed up with it mutating quickly.

www.nhs.uk/conditions/vaccinations/why-vaccination-is-safe-and-important/
"Why vaccination is safe and important
Aluminium
Adjuvants are added to vaccines in very small amounts, which have been shown to be safe. They might cause minor reactions, such as a small temporary lump or redness at the injection site.

We come into contact with aluminium all the time. It's found naturally in very small amounts in:

almost all foods
drinking water
breast milk
baby formula milk

It's also used in medicines, such as antacids, and in food packaging.

Although small amounts of aluminium from these everyday sources can build up in the body, they're not believed to be harmful to our health. Our bodies do not use aluminium and it's gradually eliminated in our pee.

There's no evidence that the levels of aluminium we come across every day increase the risk of conditions like dementia or autism.

The amount of aluminium used in killed vaccines is very, very small. No harmful effects have been seen with vaccines that contain an aluminium-based adjuvant."

Benjispruce5 · 28/11/2021 16:17

@NC180 aluminium is all around us . It’s in the air, in our food because it’s a natural element found on Earth. Babies ingest more in breast milk than in a vaccine.

thelonggame · 28/11/2021 16:18

yes, I have flu jab each year too. No reason not to.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 28/11/2021 16:20

I wonder if some people's reluctance is no more or less than a fear of needles and they look for a reason other than that to justify not having a vaccine.

I agree with this. As I said upthread I have a needle phobia and, because of this, won't be vaccinated every 6 months (although I might manage annually with a lot of support from DH). This does not make me anti vaxx, I'd give anything to be as laid back as some people on this thread. I'm not even bothered by the side effects, although if my periods were messed up that would also make me think twice about having another one.

ddl1 · 28/11/2021 16:21

I certainly am! Better than ending up in Intensive Care, or dead; or having to avoid these things by being in long-term lockdown!

Correlation does not mean causation @NC180

@NC180 have you had all your dental fillings removed? Do you use non metal pans and utensils in your cooking?
