Are you really prepared to take every single vaccine

It worries me that we may have to keep having vaccines going forward. I’m due my booster which I will take but I’m hearing that AZ are in the process of tweaking the current vaccine to combat the new strain. So we are then required to take another booster. Many variants can crop up, suppose another one does very soon. I’m concerned about the number of vaccines we could be taking. Is anyone else? And no I’m not an anti vaxer.

(Sorry: variants CAN occur; not every time.)

LettertoHermoine · 28/11/2021 15:37

No

CovidMakesThingsHard · 28/11/2021 15:38

Yes everyone they offer.
Why not, means I’m more likely to be able to access hospital services if I’m in a car crash

Benjispruce5 · 28/11/2021 15:39

It’s all about cultural norms. It’s the culture norm for babies to get loads of vaccinations by 4 months, it’s not to get a new vaccine.

DismantledKing · 28/11/2021 15:40

Yep. Vaccines are a modern miracle, I take my hat off to those of our brightest and best that develop them.

BungleandGeorge · 28/11/2021 15:40

It would depend on the risks of the individual vaccine versus my risk from the disease. I’ve had 3 but would need a careful evaluation to have AZ considering it seems to have a higher risk to me than the other vaccines

EffOrfagain · 28/11/2021 15:41

If people are to have these boosters every few months they will need to make sure they are accessible because in some places people have to travel some distance for an appointment which I don't think people minded so much for the first two but if it is going to be a regular thing people need to be able to get them in their own towns

JohnDee007 · 28/11/2021 15:41

I certainly won’t be having the booster, let alone multiple ones. after the second jab I became really ill in hospital within 2 weeks, with extreme abdominal pains then after a while progressively dairy intolerant and then later arthritic problems esp in hands-query lupus? They just don’t know but my body appears to be in inflammation overdrive, went from perfectly healthy to constant pain and food intolerances with weeks of jab. I will not be having another.

Covid felt a bit shit for a week. I know which I will take thanks.

Benjispruce5 · 28/11/2021 15:42

How many vaccine dodgers pester for antibiotics every time they’re ill?
How many dodgers are overweight, or smoke and drink? I find it staggering that so many apparently non risk averse people in their daily lives are averse to this vaccine.

Chickychickydodah · 28/11/2021 15:42

I’ve just had the Moderna booster vaccine . Sore arm but no other symptoms. Had 2/ Pfizer ones before that just stiff arm and 1 day of tiredness . I’ll take them any day if it means staying alive .

LakieLady · 28/11/2021 15:45

Yep, and I'm pissed off I couldn't get my Covid booster earlier because I've been pretty immobile following knee surgery.

Had Pfizer earlier this year with no side effects whatsoever.

IcelandicCabin · 28/11/2021 15:46

I will take everything suggested.

[Unless it is suggested by Trump and involves injecting bleach or light zapping]

I haven't been to the GP for about 20 years so no antibiotics here, nor am I overweigh, smoke or drink. I was surprised I was still registered, my NHS app is empty apart from the 2 AZs
Benjispruce5 · 28/11/2021 15:47

Mine too @EffOrfagain.

I’d say this applies equally to people shrieking for Covid restrictions whist engaging in plenty other “risky behaviour”.

I’m fully(!) vaccinated. But the unvaccinated people I know are low risk and not doctor botherers.

ktel1 · 28/11/2021 15:47

Puzzledandpissedoff

It would require some effort and commitment to reduce one's personal risk of serious illness.

Tittyfilarious81 · 28/11/2021 15:47

No I won't I had 1 vaccine horrendous side effects so I won't have any others and ive had covid so do have some of my own immunity

LizzieSiddal · 28/11/2021 15:50

I’ve been getting flu offers from GP since I turned 50 too. Thought everyone over 50 was offered it.

Same here. Plus I’ve had flu twice in my life, in my 30s and I never want to have it again, so they can boost me all they like.

Benjispruce5 · 28/11/2021 15:50

That’s not my experience @WouldBeGood

canadagoose1 · 28/11/2021 15:51

yes I'll have it. For people saying they had a headache and a sore arm the day after (eg DM), better that than Covid / long covid

OverTheRubicon · 28/11/2021 15:52

@Viviennemary

I had the booster and had a horrific headache and was extremely tired and very very sore arm. The way I feel at the moment is no more vaccines for me.
Yes, a headache and very sore arm definitely is much worse than covid Hmm. Also much worse than giving it to someone vulnerable.
ravenmum · 28/11/2021 15:52

This is really what I'm afraid of here; that even if people do have the vaccine, and maybe the booster, not enough will do so, so the virus will continue to flourish and mutate. Then it will still be around next autumn, by which point people's vaccinations will no longer be effective - and even fewer people will get re-vaccinated. Meaning that this time next year, numbers will be just as high, or higher.

The lockdowns seriously affect my income. I'm living partly off savings - don't qualify for support here: my only option would eventually be to give up and become unemployed.

Scary that so many people are avoiding vaccines just because they got a headache.

YukoandHiro · 28/11/2021 15:52

Of course, just like the flu jab.

stmw123 · 28/11/2021 15:54

Yes, along with my annual flu vaccine.

I had influenza A a few years ago and ended up hospitalised as a healthy 21 year old. I've not missed a flu jab since.

Already had my Covid booster and my flu jab and it was absolutely fine.

Benjispruce5 · 28/11/2021 15:55

It’s staggering. A headache and sore arm ffs?? I’ve had worse hangovers.
