How many people have managed to not have Covid in the UK?

How many people are left to catch covid? It seems like when it's 1 in 50 people currently have it it's not the same 1 in 50 each week so surely we are getting through the population?

lol

Bluebellbike · 22/10/2021 21:35

I haven't had it. I live in the North West. Up until August 1st this year I worked in Social Care. Out of a staff of 7 only one other staff member and myself didnt get it. We were tested 3 times weekly so would have known. I am now retired and live alone. I still wear a mask on public transport, indoor public places and crowded outdoor settings. I had my booster vaccination last week. I hope I continue to be clear of it.

SquigglePigs · 22/10/2021 21:38

In my wider friendship group and extended family I could name 6 people who have had it, and 100+ who haven't so there must be plenty of people out there who haven't.

Cakeofdoom · 22/10/2021 21:47

Not had it and I work in healthcare environments, care homes and hospitals. Im also CV.
Up to about September I knew about 8 -10 people close to me who have had it, my son, his partner, both mildly, a nephew, totally asymptomatic, a couple of work colleagues and a few friends, one of which has long Covid and unable to return to full time work but is relatively ok otherwise.

Much more recently more people I know are becoming infected, all of whom are double jabbed and also boosted in some cases which is concerning as I know a significant number of people who are not jabbed at all, around 30 ish, none of which have caught it. That may change of course.

Buzzinwithbez · 22/10/2021 21:51

I and many on my friends think we caught it December 2019/January 20. Obviously we can't know, but none of us think we've had it since.

OffCycling · 22/10/2021 21:53

8,689,949 people in the United Kingdom have had covid out of a population of 68,349,862. Figures as of Thursday, October 21, 2021, based on Worldometer elaboration of the latest United Nations data.

ineedaholidayandwine · 22/10/2021 21:57

As far as i know I've not had it, nor has my husband, daughter, mum, stepdad, dad, stepmum, step siblings, brother, his gf.
None of my friends have had it (or been aware of having had it)
My sister in law had it early on

EstuaryBird · 22/10/2021 21:58

I haven’t had it..yet…and I’ve been out to gigs at our local Rock venue and Blues Club once or twice a week since we’ve been allowed to mingle.
I fully expect to get it sometime soon but I just can’t do hiding away anymore.

TheChip · 22/10/2021 22:03

I still don't know anybody who has had it. 3 kids, 2 in school and 1 in college. Jobs using public transport and working with the public.
My dad who is cev has been all over the country having weekends/days away, mostly on those coaches. He has been in jam packed bars as well.
I am really really surprised that none of us have caught it. Our area has had one of the highest rates a few times now.
Friends who work in care and retail haven't had it yet. I really am amazed considering its meant to be super contagious. Unless we have had it before testing came about and just been unaware. If that's the case then we have all been without symptoms.

squashyhat · 22/10/2021 22:04

Nope. Nobody in my family, one nephew on my DH's side, one friend and one friend's Dad. But I've had no contact with anyone school or uni age for maybe 10 years which probably helps.

dancinfeet · 22/10/2021 22:07

Not had it that I know of, unless you count the very Covid like illness that I had in jan 2020, although testing wasn’t available then. Didn’t even catch it when DD had it and have avoided getting it from work (teaching children and teens).

Don’t think I’ve had it. And DS had it. He’s 20 and came home from uni (after 3 days) and developed it while here. We didn’t strictly isolate but he had perfected social distancing way before it was a thing so wasn’t difficult!

BobLemon · 22/10/2021 22:12

It has JUST hit my family. Two SDCs out of three. Their school is just a pool of infection. Their maternal DGM had it (caught from a secondary school aged cousin). But that’s about it.

The way it’s going through the young teens is just a bit scary. In their school it is now definitely when not if. I feel safer in the pub than I do eating dinner with them Sad

Veuvelily · 22/10/2021 22:16

How many people have managed to not have Covid in the UK?
ifoundthebread · 22/10/2021 22:18
@ifoundthebread does it only pick it up if you have antibodies from an infection or from actually having it
My ds2 has now picked up on lFT but week or so before ny DS1 was really poorly and cough , negative pCR but we are SW so worry his may of been in the mess up
So would like to find out if he has had it ? How much is the test
I got the anti bodies test for free as I am part of a research group. The letter I received said I had no antibodies to covid 19 and this means I have not had covid 19 in the last 6 months.

morticiamarkle · 22/10/2021 22:21

The uk weekly technical brief published yesterday suggests 20pct of people have N (nucleocapsid) antibodies which means they've had it.

More people might have had it post vaccination but they don't make many N antibodies says the report, once vaccinated, so harder to tell who falls into that bucket.

Timeisavirtue · 22/10/2021 22:25

Well as far as I know I haven’t?.. nor has any of my family or immediate friends.... also I work with over 100 people give or take and only 3 have tested positive, two of which was during the last lockdown.

MimosaFields · 22/10/2021 22:29

As far as I know, I have not had it

Libertaire · 22/10/2021 22:30

To the best of my knowledge, I have never had covid and neither has DP.

Being asthmatic, I was very, very cautious from several weeks before the first lockdown until several weeks after my second vaccination. I did not use public transport, stay in a hotel, enter a shopping mall, go into the office, visit someone else’s house or visit a pub, cafe or restaurant for 15 months. If I had to go to a supermarket because I couldn’t get a delivery slot, I did so only after 9pm.

At the start of the pandemic I read extensively about vaccine development and when the scientists said they had sequenced the viral DNA & would have vaccines ready for trials within months and all being well, ready for use within a year, I put my trust in them. I decided that I was prepared to put my life on hold completely for a year in order to dodge the bullet, and I’m very glad I did.

thenightsky · 22/10/2021 22:33

I only know of one family member who's had it.

MajorNeville · 22/10/2021 22:35

Going out with family for a formal meal tomorrow night, 10 of us, 2 have had it, 8 not. DH's family, 6 closest, none have had it. So that's 2/16.

Stovetopespresso · 22/10/2021 22:35

I think we had it in feb '20. and passed it on to my sister.
it's whipping round the kids and double vaxxed cev's in our neighborhood right now. lots of friends and their kids have had it.

Backofbeyond50 · 22/10/2021 22:35

I haven't had it and most of my family have avoided it to. About 20.

Backofbeyond50 · 22/10/2021 22:36

Yeah sorry 20 out of 24 avoided it
