How many people have managed to not have Covid in the UK?

How many people are left to catch covid? It seems like when it's 1 in 50 people currently have it it's not the same 1 in 50 each week so surely we are getting through the population?

OP posts:

I haven't. Well, I don't think I have. If I had the money, I would get an antibody test to see.

Walkaround · 22/10/2021 20:39

I’m not aware of ever having had it.

Spunout · 22/10/2021 20:40

As far as I'm aware I haven't,would love an antibody test too.

vodkaredbullgirl · 22/10/2021 20:40

I've not had it, but most of my of the people I work with have had it. There is only 4 of us who have avoided it, so far. None of my family have had either.

BurscoughBooths · 22/10/2021 20:41

Nobody in my family has had it. One work colleague. I know hardly anyone who has had it

herecomesthsun · 22/10/2021 20:41

It isn't 1 in 50 in a week. The positivity in the ONS survey lasts longer than that (though I am not sure exactly how long).

There are also some people getting re-infected.

SnugKnights · 22/10/2021 20:41

Apparently antibody tests can only tell you if you’ve had it in the last 6 months. Otherwise I’d have paid for one.

GreenLeafs · 22/10/2021 20:41

Nobody in my family of four has had It.

Tigerwhocameforsupper · 22/10/2021 20:42

I’ve just had it, first out of my family and friends.

littlestmunchkin · 22/10/2021 20:44

I'm sure I've just had it (dd did). Anyone know which antibody tests only for infection? Am tempted!

littlestmunchkin · 22/10/2021 20:44

@BurscoughBooths dd was the first person I directly knew who had it!

LynetteScavo · 22/10/2021 20:45

I did an antibody test, and was told I had antibodies, but with the results was also told that the antibodies could be from the vaccine. Confused

As far as I know I haven't had Covid.

happytoday73 · 22/10/2021 20:45

I was thinking the same OP... As it rattles through our local schools I do wonder if this means rates will just drop off naturally for Christmas...
..... I do however acknowledge that we are in G Manchester and so surrounded by lies of people who have had it as our rates have been very high for a huge amount of this pandemic...

... My local area is ridiculously high

bobsholi · 22/10/2021 20:45

I haven't had it. None of my immediate or wider family have either.

FromTheAshes · 22/10/2021 20:45

Of my circle of around 30 friends, neighbours and work colleagues, four have had covid. One was "mild" with long lasting effects, one had an underlying health condition accelerated and two died. Three of those four were over 70. The rest of my circle are a mix of home working, office based, school based and childcare based, all of whom managed to avoid it. Some, like myself, have taken huge steps to avoid it while others have maintained pretty much a pre covid existence. The common theme between those who caught it was healthcare - one worked in it, one was in a residential home, two had daily carers coming in. That said, another member of my circle who has poor health and frequent involvement with healthcare and took nothing more than standard precautions has not caught it.

Babyroobs · 22/10/2021 20:47

We are a family of six and only one Ds ( who was at Uni ) has had it twice. No one else has had it as far as we know.

Learntoloveyourself · 22/10/2021 20:48

Me, DH, DD, DD, DM, DS x2 DB x 3 all covid free. Feeling very lucky so far

Mantlemoose · 22/10/2021 20:48

I haven't had it that I know of. I know personally between work family and friends 10 people definitely had it. I know 11 people who probably had it but this was Dec-Feb 2020.

Arbitan · 22/10/2021 20:48

Everyone else in my household despite me having had it Grin

AuntieMarys · 22/10/2021 20:49

Dh and I haven't. And we go to the opening of an envelope

Katshouldnotswim · 22/10/2021 20:49

As far as I know I haven’t had it.

I work in a school…

generalh · 22/10/2021 20:50

I haven't; although I could have had it and been unaware.

user1471453601 · 22/10/2021 20:50

My dd, her partner and I haven't had it. But we all wear masks, indoors apart from at home. We are all double jabbed (I have my booster tomorrow) and try to keep to the two meters rule.

I'm cev, so dd a d her part have always been v v careful about external contacts.

We know we are not out of the woods (not even close) so just continue with the only weapons we have at our disposal. So thats, washing hands, wearing masks and limiting social interaction.

50 thousand cases a day, but still it's not time to do anything? I despair.

Bettyboopsboop · 22/10/2021 20:50

Two of my kids have had it at different times but neither my husband, myself or child 3 have had it 🤷‍♀️

Waxonwaxoff0 · 22/10/2021 20:51

I've had it but I know people who haven't. None of my friends have.
