How many people have managed to not have Covid in the UK?

How many people are left to catch covid? It seems like when it's 1 in 50 people currently have it it's not the same 1 in 50 each week so surely we are getting through the population?

I've not had it. Antibody test came back negative.

Dd is 21 and the only one of her friend group not to have caught it.

PeachesPumpkin · 22/10/2021 21:09

Total Uk population minus total positive cases (plus a few extra for luck)?

XenoBitch · 22/10/2021 21:09

@Sinner10

You can order antibodies tests online through direct gov for free. I’ve done it a few times.
I didn't know that. Do you have a link?
secretbookcase · 22/10/2021 21:09

None of my blood family have had it (DSis/DBro/DM and DF.) Nor have I. I think we might be naturally immune, especially as DSis works with teenagers.

I think DH and DC had it very early before it was tested. If they didn't, they've not had it either, despite DC being in flatshares at uni with people who caught it.

NigellaSeed · 22/10/2021 21:09

Us 3, as far as I know

caringcarer · 22/10/2021 21:14

Me, DH, or 2 adult sons and foster son not had it.

ElephantCup · 22/10/2021 21:16

I haven’t, partner maybe had it very early on. Work in a team of 14, only one has had it, one others partners and one persons child

Sonex · 22/10/2021 21:18

none of us, 2 adults, 4 kids, have had it so far,.as far as we know

Titsywoo · 22/10/2021 21:19

I've got antibodies but assumed it was from the vaccine - I don't think I have had covid

TammyTwoSwanson · 22/10/2021 21:19

I'm CEV and have never had a positive test. I had a suspiciously covid-like illness in Jan and Feb 2020, but an antibody test a few months later was negative.
No one in my household has had it yet either (two kids in school).

HalloHello · 22/10/2021 21:20

Can you not just check the statistics? In Scotland there have been approx 620,400 positive tests to date. Population of Scotland is 5.5 million. So only another 4.8 million people to infect... Don't think you can rely on this!!!!!

Warhertisuff · 22/10/2021 21:21

This link is from a thread I started yesterday...

www.mrc-bsu.cam.ac.uk/now-casting/nowcasting-and-forecasting-20th-october-2021/

It estimates 47% have been infected in England rising to 58% in London, and 76% of 5-14 year olds!

drury7thedition · 22/10/2021 21:22

I haven’t had it. Had an antibody test.

rooarsome · 22/10/2021 21:22

I haven't had it so far (I think).

Dangermouse80 · 22/10/2021 21:22

I had it last year shortly after lockdown began. This year my partner and I have both got it. We were really surprised as no symptoms. Must be via the kids.

RobinPenguins · 22/10/2021 21:22

None of my immediate family have had it despite households having children in nursery, teachers and NHS staff. Not many of my friends have had it either.

HippoNamedBooBooButt · 22/10/2021 21:23

I've not known anyone in my family and friends to have it, this whole time. Now my nephew has it, both my (over 75) parents have it, and both DH's parents have it. I think I had it right at the beginning, and did an antibody test last March before I was vaccinated which showed I had antibodies so suggests I did.

Warhertisuff · 22/10/2021 21:23

@PeachesPumpkin

Total positive cases equates to total confirmed cases. There will have been many many cases, especially in the first wave (before mass testing) and in children and younger people (who are frequently asymptomatic) that weren't confirmed.

I imagine it must be very rare indeed now for someone to not have had any friends or family who've had it.... Where are you from, New Zealand?

Sorry, ignore my last post... I read the first two lines and responded without reading the whole thing...
HippoNamedBooBooButt · 22/10/2021 21:26

@Warhertisuff I have known many acquaintances and friends of friends who have had it, but no, no close friends or family until now. South East England.

Confirmed cases don't equate to actual infections as per my earlier post. not even close.
CatAlice · 22/10/2021 21:27

I had it. I'm CEV and have been scrupulously careful. None of the rest of the family have had it including DS who is a teacher in a school rife with it, all his friends have had it in recent weeks. DD who has partied and socialised hasn't had it.
We have all done antibody tests so no asymptomatic covid.
You can get an AB test that just tests whether you've had covid and another which tests for vaccine antibodies.

HippoNamedBooBooButt · 22/10/2021 21:27

@Warhertisuff haha no worries

GreenLeafs · 22/10/2021 21:28

@vodkaredbullgirl

I hope not Jesus Smile
Well I hope Jesus hasn’t had it. Sorry, couldn’t resist Wink
