How many people have managed to not have Covid in the UK?

How many people are left to catch covid? It seems like when it's 1 in 50 people currently have it it's not the same 1 in 50 each week so surely we are getting through the population?

Neither myself, my partner, any of our four kids, or parents or siblings have had it. To our knowledge. My best friend has. And my ex h and partner. And my boss.

generalh · 22/10/2021 20:52

Must add I am in Wales, wear a mask in work (school) and do as much social distancing and hand sanitizing as I can.

ifoundthebread · 22/10/2021 20:52

I have not had it, nor has any of my household- as far as I'm aware. I did an anti bodies test a few weeks ago and the results say I have not had covid in the last 6 months. 4 extended family members have had it but 3 of them were the same household. The rest of my extended family are yet to have it.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 22/10/2021 20:54

Most people in my family.

Of course, every single person on this thread has just jinxed themselves...

milveycrohn · 22/10/2021 20:56

No one in my family has had it, as far as we know.
One adult DS (lives elsewhere) was sent an antibody kit from ?? who are testing random people to work out the percentage of people who have had it, but his was negative. This was last year, before vaccines, etc.
Otherwise I do know someone who had it, (Jan 2020) but caught it from someone else who caught it from being in hospital for an unrelated issue.
I am now wondering whether being double jabbed would test positive with an antibody test?
Does anybody know

frumpety · 22/10/2021 20:56

No one in this house has had it so far, I work in the NHS and DS is Secondary age and DD is at college, so plenty of opportunity to come into contact with it. Everyone has had their vaccines other than DS who doesn't yet qualify. Other than DH, we are all doing regular lateral flow tests. DH is careful as vulnerable.

vodkaredbullgirl · 22/10/2021 20:56

I hope not Jesus Smile

Sinner10 · 22/10/2021 20:56

You can order antibodies tests online through direct gov for free. I’ve done it a few times.

Againstmachine · 22/10/2021 20:57

Not had it worked through it catching public transport, no tests taken ever as haven't been sick. Immediate family no one has had it.

EileenGC · 22/10/2021 20:58

Less than 10% of the people I know in the UK (family, friends - hundreds of them) have had Covid, to my knowledge. Give or take a bit and it’s still less than a quarter of them.

WhatsWrongWithMyUsername · 22/10/2021 20:58

Blackburn with Darwen has the highest rate of infections recorded (of all the lower tier council areas) over the whole of the pandemic at nearly 20%. Obviously that’s only those tested positive, so in reality more (maybe double if half were low enough symptoms to not test?)

It does seem crazy it’s not higher, when some weeks the ONS numbers for particular areas or age groups are so high. I suppose we’ve also had a lot of months with it quite low and it does move in waves around the country.

I’ve avoided it so far to my knowledge. A colleague currently has it for the second time.

Watsername · 22/10/2021 20:58

None of my close family have tested positive for it, despite 3 of us being in schools. I have had 2 antibody tests which were both negative. I do wonder if we all had it in Feb 2020 before testing was available.

ThirdElephant · 22/10/2021 20:58

None of us have had it, as far as we know.

GoodnightGrandma · 22/10/2021 20:58

We haven’t.

Chessie678 · 22/10/2021 20:59

There’s another thread on this. Latest study suggests 47% of the population overall have had it.

NoBetterthanSheShouldBe · 22/10/2021 21:00

Around 1 in 10 of my family and friends have had it. Not me.

littlestmunchkin · 22/10/2021 21:00

@Sinner10 thanks I've done that but have since found that they now don't distinguish between vaccine and infection antibodies

Raaarrrrrrrr · 22/10/2021 21:01

I still had natural antibodies in July 2021 after being infected in March 2020. The test can tell natural apart from vaccine antibodies. I have long covid.

worriedatthemoment · 22/10/2021 21:04

@ifoundthebread does it only pick it up if you have antibodies from an infection or from actually having it
My ds2 has now picked up on lFT but week or so before ny DS1 was really poorly and cough , negative pCR but we are SW so worry his may of been in the mess up
So would like to find out if he has had it ? How much is the test

PinkBuffalo · 22/10/2021 21:04

As far as I am aware I have not had it
And I was at work all through the lockdowns as well and thrown myself back into gym as soon as it opened again
The only difference I can think is that I do not have kids so no one bring it home from school etc

AutumnLeafy · 22/10/2021 21:05

Oh that's quite a few!

My husband has had it but the kids and I have managed to escape thus far.

OzziePopPop · 22/10/2021 21:06

None of us (family of four) have to my knowledge. I’m CEV so we have been very careful though. Lowish rates in our area but they’re rising fast.

jackstini · 22/10/2021 21:06

3 out of 4 in our family & 1 set of friends
4 out of 4 in 1 set of friends
0 out of 4 in 2 other sets of friends
1 single
1 couple
Overall about 40% of people I know

Upallnight23 · 22/10/2021 21:08

My and the 4 people in my household haven't had it.
Neither has anyone in my immediate family.
I only know of a handful of people that have tested positive
