Anyone got any confirmed cases at their child's school yet?

Well it didn't take long 😂 DS started Reception this week and today we get an email saying they have 5 confirmed cases in the school over several year groups.
I suppose it was inevitable really!
Anyone else know if any confirmed cases in their child's school since they started back?

There have been daily confirmed cases at our large secondary school. Not lots but creeping up so they've gone back to wearing face coverings.

TheGrumpyGoat · 15/09/2021 21:45

Yes but ours have been back nearly 4 weeks now. 6 confirmed cases in the first week, none since.

ArianaG · 15/09/2021 21:45

Yes 2 of them are my dcs!

desperate4spring · 15/09/2021 21:45

Yes! My two DC! 🙈

practicallyperfectwithprosecco · 15/09/2021 21:46

3 in my class already only been back 2 weeks - as soon as 1 has come back another one goes!

Few children in year have parents with it - 1 parent in hospital very poorly and 1 parent unfortunately died.

Oh and HT and DHT are both off with covid

desperate4spring · 15/09/2021 21:46

And we also had a letter stating there are currently confirmed case in Y3, 4, 5 and 6...

Iggly · 15/09/2021 21:46

Yes and in my workplace too ffs

LakeFlyPie · 15/09/2021 21:47

2nd week back and 5 confirmed cases in Year 6. Lots of children had attended grammar school entrance exams yesterday so that'll have spread it across the borough quite effectively Hmm

brittleheadgirl · 15/09/2021 21:47

Absolutely loads, staff & children.
The staff who have it are the ones were vaccinated early on and they seem quite poorly, so presumably immunity is waning for those of us who had back in Jan/Feb Confused

yummychocolate · 15/09/2021 21:49

Yes several cases in our school. Our school is now back to bubbles and staggered pick ups again for the moment.

Daisydoor12 · 15/09/2021 21:50

3 confirmed cases at our small village primary school, only had 1 case previous to this.

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 15/09/2021 21:51

I think this is what's called 'learning to live with covid'. As long as these cases aren't translating into hospitalisations and deaths, then i wouldn't worry.

halcyondays · 15/09/2021 21:53

Yes but they don’t even bother telling us any more. You only know from your children telling you, I said to dd that they seem to have stopped emailing us and she said, well they’d have to send out a lot of emails.
It’s only going to get worse now if they’re not sending home close contacts.

YetAnotherWalk · 15/09/2021 21:53

Yes, in 3 separate year groups across their 2 schools - not really surprised with daily numbers as they are!

sleepyhoglet · 15/09/2021 21:54

8 out of a class of 16. Teacher pregnant and expected to stay in the class and not deemed a close contact.

Ours are still informing us about every case. They’re also telling us if our child sits within 1.5m of a confirmed case so that we can test if we wish (different to the T&T criteria).
Andacherryonthetop · 15/09/2021 21:55

Yes. In my sons class of 29 ish there were 11 kids in today. 8 yesterday so I’m guessing some have tested negative and come back in. Around 10 positive I think. He’s in the juniors. Similar numbers for my daughters infant class although not as bad. I got my son tested yesterday and got a letter saying he is a close contact today. But I got a negative result for him this morn so he’s fine. I’ll get him checked again this weekend and my daughter if she gets a letter although the letter says the pcr is advisory and not required. Luckily most kids seem to be asymptomatic and I’ve not heard of any parents catching it- I think most are double jabbed

sleepyhoglet · 15/09/2021 21:55

They don't send home close contacts so it is clearly going to spread quickly and I think worse than when bubbles closed as soon as there was a case. Will end up with most children missing school but not all at the same time. Nightmare for provision

mynameiscalypso · 15/09/2021 21:55

DS' nursery has been back for 10 days (they close for a summer holiday) and there are 7 cases in his class of 16.

carryme · 15/09/2021 21:56

We have 80+ large secondary with 1800 pupils

BrizzleMaverick · 15/09/2021 21:56

We have two from my DS class.
One tested as came back from holiday so mandatory test no symptoms so wouldn't have known and would have sent to school if they had of gone abroad.
Other kid complained of a sore, painful nose the morning of the second day back so did a LFT again no other symptoms, if the kid hadn't of mentioned it then they would have been in school.
A few parents then did LFT on their kids those who did are all negative.

mummywithtwokidsplusdog · 15/09/2021 21:57

Yes- loads (scotland-have been back 4 weeks)… so many that they’ve stopped sending out email alerts!

Onehotmess · 15/09/2021 21:59

Yes, at least 1 at my kids school and 1 at the school I work at.

Chewbecca · 15/09/2021 22:01

We don’t get informed any more - I know that for sure because DS is off with it! So other than him chatting to his friends, no idea how widespread it is.

Bobholll · 15/09/2021 22:03

No idea, they don’t tell us unless it’s an outbreak of 10 or more in anyone class or something like that. Doesn’t seem to be any in our class yet from general chatter.. small village primary.
