Anyone got any confirmed cases at their child's school yet?

Well it didn't take long 😂 DS started Reception this week and today we get an email saying they have 5 confirmed cases in the school over several year groups.
I suppose it was inevitable really!
Anyone else know if any confirmed cases in their child's school since they started back?

Roi here. Loads of cases on schools back now 3 wèeks.

DragonMamma · 15/09/2021 23:04

Loads here in S Wales. My youngest had a case in primary the first week and the eldest has a few cases in her year group at secondary school.

MissCruellaDeVil · 15/09/2021 23:04

No children, 2 staff, we are primary though and a lot of children have older siblings (in secondary) with covid.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 16/09/2021 06:48

Had an email last week saying there were 2 confirmed cases. Not concerned about DS as he just had Covid last month so he should have some immunity for a time.

nicky2512 · 16/09/2021 06:53

N Ireland - lots in Ds school. He was sent home on his 3rd day back to be tested. Now the Public Health Agency have taken over identifying contacts so no one in school being considered a contact since last Friday.
Numbers just steadily rising and disruption is getting worse.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 16/09/2021 06:55

There's been one in my daughter's year group this week.

ColettesEarrings · 16/09/2021 06:59

We had kids test positive on the day 1 in school tests...

Whinge · 16/09/2021 07:02

My school has several children positive in each year group, and it seems to be similar in other local schools. It's so widespread that i'm now more surprised to hear of schools with no cases, than I am schools with many.

mynameisnotmichaelcaine · 16/09/2021 07:03

One that I know of - large secondary.

autumnboys · 16/09/2021 07:05

One of my kids has it.
One of my other kids has been pinged by the school to say a classmate has it. He’s just had a PCR because of his brother, now I think he’ll need to do another.

Mummyme87 · 16/09/2021 07:05

Yes, my son just moved up to juniors and a confirmed case in his year group but not his class. A girl in his class is a household contact

itsgettingwierd · 16/09/2021 07:07

Yep. 4 cases in a class.

Somehow it hasn't (yet?!) spread any further.

Small school with Tortola population of about 150 people.

user89000005 · 16/09/2021 07:12

Absolutely no idea and don't really care. Is your school announcing it?

Goingdriving · 16/09/2021 07:14

One year group sent home as too many cases in year to contain. Also in 3 other year groups. Kids told to wear masks.

LadyPenelope68 · 16/09/2021 07:19

I’m a teacher, we’ve had loads, in fact we only have to get one more confirmed case and we have to go into Covid Management Plan (designed by the LA and our local Public Health Department - all schools will have them I think) whereby if we get 10% of school community as confirmed cases in a 10 day period, then we have to revert back to bubbles, no parents in playground etc, etc.☹️

FlowerTink · 16/09/2021 07:20

Primary school - staff and children have it.

Gilmorehill · 16/09/2021 07:23

@brittleheadgirl

Absolutely loads, staff & children. The staff who have it are the ones were vaccinated early on and they seem quite poorly, so presumably immunity is waning for those of us who had back in Jan/Feb Confused
But school staff weren’t in the priority groups for the vaccine. We had to wait our turn. It’s unlikely those staff were vaccinated in January or February.

You don’t care? Blimey
TheLovelinessOfDemons · 16/09/2021 07:26

No. Which is interesting, as we're in London and Delta hit us hard. Maybe our mayor keeping masks on public transport is working.

throttlebottom · 16/09/2021 07:27

Whole year group have just been sent home for ten days nearby to us. (large secondary)

Backofbeyond50 · 16/09/2021 07:31

None in school thatI sm aware of but not sure if they would tell us.
Immunosupressed DH had been WFH but went into office for one afternoon and now they have a case from the session.
Flipping typical.

Not necessarily.

If they had their doses so early then they are most likely a lot older or in the CEV group, possibly in the CV group (I am CV and had mine my first at the end of February)

We know that in the more vulnerable groups, often due to health conditions which affect the immune system, that the vaccines may not be as effective. And that if they do catch covid they would be more likely to be iller than the average person. Without their vaccine they could have been far worse.

SillyBub · 16/09/2021 07:35

Loads at the primary school I work at. Loads at the 2 secondary schools the DC attend. One of the DC is a close contact after their best friend tested positive and is having a PCR today. It's just all around us, everywhere.
