Headteachers at a number of schools across the country have been personally threatened with violence and legal action by anti vaxxers.

Not hurting anyone, freedom of speech and all that. They get a pomp pomp from me
Depends what they’re saying really doesn’t it? As they’ve taken to protesting outside a school I’m happy to presume they don’t have the best judgement skills and aren’t moderating their message to the age group.

We’ve had some locally set up outside a location that has lots of clubs yelling about how anyone who’s had the vaccine is going to drop dead. Lovely for kids to hear that their parents are going to suddenly die Hmm

ANameChangeAgain · 10/09/2021 19:28

To be fair, the average year 7 kid is still intellectually superior to the average anti-vaxxer. ha ha, yes!!
You could of course use them as a way of explaining natural selection to children.
Oh and no, I wouldn't be giving them a pap pap or pump pump or whatever. Freedom of speech is for outside Town Halls, not intimidating children who need to make their own health choices.

SilverGlitterBaubles · 10/09/2021 20:30

@ANameChangeAgain The teachers could also use it as a reason to study science because if not you end up getting your information from FB.

MRex · 10/09/2021 20:45

I haven't seen any, passed the science museum today and none there either. I don't think I would respond well to people deliberately trying to upset children at school. At a minimum I would call and ask the police to put them behind a barrier.

FriedTomatoe · 10/09/2021 20:55

Anti-vaxxers aren't all stupid and this is the problem I have with these kind of discussions. At the top end of this movement there are highly intelligent, manipulative and articulate people using covid as a way to push their agenda.

I haven't seen the protesters at my son's school but we live in an area where most people are compliant.

generalh · 10/09/2021 20:57

We had some in Swansea on Saturday at a random point on a road into the city. No where near a school and on a weekend...

Not sure it is really fair on children, who often walk to school alone.

I think they are being fairly intimidating. They pretend they care about kids, but are happy to make them stressed.

So I think they are hurting people.

Sadless · 10/09/2021 21:09

I know one of them personally and she has been like this for months now. She left her job in a care home because she refuses to get jabbed. She will argue with people in shops about wearing a mask because she never has. Most people I have come across who are anti vaxxer seem like they all love trump they most read the same stuff on the Internet. She says things like everyone needs to wake up and it just seems abit mad to me.
For a small town I didn't think I would see that today but I am constantly noticing posters in bus shelters and they are not professional posters just someones writing about not having the jab

"They pretend they care about kids, but are happy to make them stressed."

This. Groups such as us4them, with their links to HART and the abundance of misinformation they put out is awful.

noblegiraffe · 10/09/2021 21:19

What a bunch of wankers. They'll claim to be 'concerned about the children', while intimidating them. Well done them Hmm

noblegiraffe · 10/09/2021 21:21

Do these people not have jobs?

VaccineSticker · 10/09/2021 21:21

So much for my body my choice that antivaxxers behold so close to their hearts when it comes to their choices.
But wait for the hypocrisy here:
No one else is allowed to make a choice on vaccines uptake. And if they dare take the vaccine they get harassed by them.

Bonkers isn't it?
noblegiraffe · 10/09/2021 21:36

They've not even been rolled out to 12+ yet. What will it be like on vaccination day if people are this mad already?

DismantledKing · 10/09/2021 21:40

@noblegiraffe

They’re generally unemployable.
Xenia · 10/09/2021 21:49

Depends how it is done. I don't really like protestors right near abortion clinics which is intimdating or Extinction Rebellion stopping people getting to work or the muslim who slashed a Christian preacher lady who had a Charlie H T shirt on at Speaker's Corner the other week and this it would be getting a bit unfair if too close to a school in the case here, although I respect the right of people of all views to protest or schools to give a pro and anti vaccination talk in a balanced way to children etc.

QuornStarMartini · 10/09/2021 21:50

I don’t support people doing this. But to be fair, people do have days off and annual leave or could have been at work earlier or later in the day. Many people say ‘get a job’ type stuff to people who protest about all sorts of stuff and often the people do work! Again I do not support these people harassing children but I have supported people protesting about other things that have had this said about them.

No, they should not be teaching anti-vax shite at schools.

Shall we give equal weight to evolutionists and creationists in school too? Of course not. One has a scientific basis, and one is bollocks.
noblegiraffe · 10/09/2021 22:04

If they have jobs, wouldn't they be wary of being seen out in the community harassing schoolkids?

Inmyownlittlecorner · 10/09/2021 22:11

They were outside my DDs school on Tuesday & outside the tube station handing out leaflets as well as shouting about Covid being a hoax. The ones by the station were being told to stop by a group of 6 formers & a surprising amount of pensioners as I came gone from work.
The school emailed parents because some of the children were worried & went back into the school.

If they are not breaking the law, it is not an issue I guess, not everyone has a professional role, if you were a contract wirker, who would care?
lannistunut · 10/09/2021 22:13

Wtf is a wirker? Worker

Kendodd · 10/09/2021 22:14

With regard anti vax posters, be very careful, there have been reports that some of them have razor blades behind them.
