In November time?

Obvs I can't force my kids schools to stay open but I won't be complying with any future lockdowns. We have to live with covid and lockdowns just kick the can down the road, as Australia and NZ have experienced. You can't outrun this virus.

User1234123 · 07/09/2021 13:44

I'm trying to establish if NHS under strain now = potential lockdown in the eyes of some? The NHS has been under strain for years!

The damage to people's mental health due to lockdown has lead to year long waiting lists, alongside all manner of other nasties (increase in domestic violence, increase in unhealthy eating etc).

To those who say that this is to protect the NHS from being overrun...yes, but is it not unreasonable to speculate that a harsh lockdown might just increase the pressure in the long run?

Hairwizard · 07/09/2021 13:46

No lockdowns arent the fucking answer.

Nhs is overwhelmed every fucking winter. As a pp said money should have been targeted for nhs to overcome this rather than fucking lining their bessie mates pockets on stupid ideas that never worked.
Enough is enough.

FallingRussetLeaves · 07/09/2021 13:52

We need to knock on the head now the idea that lockdowns are a reasonable response to pressures on the NHS, otherwise they'll become a part of the toolkit and will be used as an ongoing alternative to adequate funding. Which would be incredibly damaging, way beyond the lifetime of this pandemic.

Thewiseoneincognito · 07/09/2021 13:52

We haven’t invested very much into the NHS yet, all that’s happened is a loss of staff due to Brexit and stress levels from being overworked and under appreciated by our government.

Those in the know- where are we in terms of staffing levels compared to a year ago? Unison says 110000 vacancies but obviously that’s not just front line staff. Perhaps our Achilles heel for lockdowns or certainly restrictions is staffing levels?

MarshaBradyo · 07/09/2021 13:54

Re intentional or not I agree the media has been used throughout but whether i news is where government typically go not sure

But then it’s not a paper / online I come across usually

With unnamed SAGE source again couldn’t say for sure

agree with this so much.

Agreed. Fuck off with your lockdowns. Its not something the government has a right to continue doing to me ... fair enough the initial response when unknown and unprepared, but to be able to continue "rolling" restrictions of when I can and can't see friends and family? Yeah, fuck off.

Nice race to the bottom mentality there @irresistibleoverwhelm

JesusIsAnyNameFree · 07/09/2021 14:53

@WhatNaYes

The way you speak of vulnerable people is disgusting. That's all I will say to you.

Exactly. Successive governments have cut hospital bed numbers over and over again. This is the reason for pressure. Lockdowns do not solve this problem.
MercyBooth · 07/09/2021 15:05

, reading stuff here complaining about lockdowns and mask wearing as not being able to go to pubs and the hairdresser is eye-popping

Sanctimony 101 from you @irresistibleoverwhelm I was waiting for this Thank You for proving me right! Im one of those family carers who keeps the person she cares for OUT of hospital and the social care system. I dont think a haircut and colour every few weeks from a stand alone business run by a working class woman to feel tidy and vaguely fucking human is too much to ask in return.

ALL FAMILY CARERS PICK A DATE. WE CAN ALL PICK A DATE AND DROP THE PEOPLE WE CARE FOR IN A AND E ALL ON THE SAME DAY. Hows that for a protest. Whos with me??!!!!!!

Aquilegias · 07/09/2021 15:12

It does make me laugh reading all the "nope, no lockdown, no one will comply! I won't comply"

Of course you will, just like so many were condemning talk of vaccines for children, are now chomping at the bit to get their kids jabbed. Such strong principles 😂

Reading this currently on day 4 of positive Covid. I could not disagree more. Our family had been nowhere other than local playgrounds abd a single trip to buy trainers for school return which has now not happened. "Living with it/what about the economy/we need normal" type of posts go in no way to avert us from the very real dangers this thing poses. It's not worked avoiding or doing half naked lockdowns for over 18 months. Vaccines are not stopping transmissions and families like ours who have been virtually nowhere getting knocked for 6 still. This is not living with it this is dicing with our population with no regard to keeping them safe. Measures in schools and wider public places hasn't happened. The only alternatives are lockdowns now it's obvious right? Unless you really want us all dead?
IcedPurple · 07/09/2021 15:17

You don't help your case with 'arguments' like this.

Oh, and what's a 'half naked lockdown' when it's at home? Is it different from a lockdown which wears a hat, scarf and gloves in winter?

TheKeatingFive · 07/09/2021 15:20

Unless you really want us all dead?

Just what do people think the FR of covid actually is? You know now, with the vaccines?

MercyBooth · 07/09/2021 15:22

Breaking. four out of five of people in Britain have had two Covid vaccines. Thats an amazing take up.

Yes, famously nobody has ever refused the covid vaccine or breached the coronavirus regulations.
MercyBooth · 07/09/2021 15:24

And not feeling like a scruffbag means ive now lost weight. Funny how NOT being completely dehumanized leads to this outcome isnt it.

LastTrainEast · 07/09/2021 15:35

Lockdowns wreck havoc on the mental and physical health of young people. We are in the process of creating a dumbed down next generation that will suffer unprecedented mental health issues and experience unpredictable negative outcomes in terms of their childhood development

Have you presented your findings to the appropriate journals?

Oh wait. Your claim is based on youtube and facebook isn't it. Lots of that about and what we all need to do is ignore these armchair experts in favour of real experts who have jobs and some knowledge of the subject.

As for not wanting to protect the weak and vulnerable you can always go form your own society which doesn't do those things. We'll keep our one thanks.

MercyBooth · 07/09/2021 15:37

They have been moaning like fuck that people have put on weight in lockdown. They even have a NHS advert running about it.

FallingRussetLeaves · 07/09/2021 15:38

That is not a very coherent argument doubleshotespresso, maybe not surprising if you have covid. But the importance of the NHS continuing to be able to treat sick people is the very reason why lockdown to protect it cannot be permitted to become part of the toolkit. If we allow it in, it will be used as an alternative to proper funding for the ball to be kicked down the road a bit more.

TheKeatingFive · 07/09/2021 15:38

in favour of real experts who have jobs and some knowledge of the subject.

Plenty of them have raised significant concerns about the immense, long term costs of lockdown.

As for not wanting to protect the weak and vulnerable

Many of the weak and vulnerable are getting absolutely fired under the bus due to lockdown policies. But somehow in your eyes, it’s only covid vulnerable who count.
