Has anyone's child been offered the vaccine yet?

They are only vaccinating 16 and above at the moment.

halcyondays · 20/08/2021 11:15

Some 12-15s are eligible if they have certain health conditions or live with someone immunocompromised.

"They are only vaccinating 16 and above at the moment."

Some 12-15 year olds are eligible. They are supposed to be offered an appointment by 23rd August.

Ds is definitely eligible but we haven't heard anything and I don't know anyone who has. We are in Cumbria.

I thought it was from the 23rd. The 16-17 year olds were by the 23rd.
We haven't heard anything about my 14 year old.

Swirlysnail · 20/08/2021 11:57

I read that parents would be informed by the 23rd with appointments happening from that date.

The lack of clear information is ridiculous Swirly.

DD1 (15, SN, ?ASD, brain malformation) had her first dose last night. We were phoned on Tuesday.

MeMumI · 20/08/2021 12:52

My 14 year old was offered it on Tuesday as well. She has an autoimmune condition that puts her in the at risk category too. I think the DRs are doing all the calls now, as I know of others (with the same condition) who have just been offered jt,

herecomesthsun · 20/08/2021 13:10

heard nothing here

SupermanWithTheGreyHair · 20/08/2021 13:19

I think it must depend on your area. My almost 18 year old has only just been offered it here.

Wellbythebloodyhell · 20/08/2021 14:54

My local CCG has invited those living with someone immuno suppressed or CEV themselves this week, to start vaccinating next week. Not being done at the regular adult vaccination sites but at selected surgery's/health centres due to additional requirements from NHSE for paediatric patients.

herecomesthsun · 20/08/2021 16:33

and.... we just got an email from the CCG Smile

My DD13 has got her Pfizer vaccine appointment early in September - we could have had it today but we are away on holiday so we took the next available date. She qualifies as she is immunosuppressed.

It's the folk who worked tirelessly to get the state of fear threads removed. And the Laura Dodsworth ones. They were not even subtle about it either. Shame on MN for allowing it to happen.
Wellbythebloodyhell · 20/08/2021 17:10

@ilovecuddlydogs1000 I'm sure anyone who wants their child vaccinated is doing so because they believe that is the right thing for their family. We all have different circumstances let's just respect one another's decision either way. If @herecomesthsun decides vaccination Is best for them it's no skin off your nose. We're all capable of seeing data and deciding our own conclusions for our specific circumstance.
I'm not sure if I would vaccine my dc yet but then I'm in a fortunate position in that neither myself dh or dc are CEV or immuno suppressed my view may be different if they were.
