Has anyone's child been offered the vaccine yet?

@herecomesthsun

What is the 77th brigade?
Just for curiosity, I Googled it.

www.army.mod.uk/who-we-are/formations-divisions-brigades/6th-united-kingdom-division/77-brigade/ Official army page "through targeted Information Activity and Outreach we contribute to the success of military objectives in support of Commanders, whilst reducing the cost in casualties and resources."

From a news source: ukdefencejournal.org.uk/77-brigade-is-countering-covid-misinformation/ "Chief of the Defence Staff General Sir Nick Carter has revealed that 77 Brigade is involved in countering misinformation online relating to Coronavirus.
It is important to note that this isn’t being directed at British citizens or at UK organisations, the effort is being directed at sources outside of the country."

"77th Brigade specialise in “non-lethal” forms of psychological warfare, using social media including Facebook and Twitter to fight with information in response to external factors, like Russian misinformation."

cantkeepawayforever · 20/08/2021 17:17

I therefore think that the new poster, who has no previous posts on MN, is claiming that she is Russian propaganda, posting misinformation about Covid.

Oh right. I googled it and got a closed account of some sort, which wasn't very helpful. Is it just a snide and enigmatic way of saying you really don't agree with someone?

cantkeepawayforever · 20/08/2021 17:24

I THINK that - as well as claiming to be posting Covid misinformation - the poster may be objecting to your reporting this misinformation by questioning whether you are employed to do so.

I may be wrong.

Seems a shame to have a thread disrupted about the long awaited offer of the vaccine for vulnerable children.

As another poster aptly said on another thread - if you're quoting Mike Yeadon you're too far down the rabbit hole to be reasoned with.

Yeadon has been spouting wilder and wilder conspiracy theories throughout the pandemic, including that everyone who's been vaccinated will be dead in two years, and that the vaccine does not protect against COVID, but instead is a way to get everyone into a "database" and also simultaneously cause "mass depopulation".

I and others have posted extensively on ADE, and why it is not considered to be an issue regarding the coronavirus vaccines. Happy to repeat, but not if you'll just swerve onto a new conspiracy theory.

Meredusoleil · 20/08/2021 17:32

Can anyone tell me if they have to have 2 doses of the vaccine like us adults did?Also, is it just Pfizer being offered or can they have the Moderna or Johnson ones?

cantkeepawayforever · 20/08/2021 17:33

As an ex research scientist, my reference preferred reference material is peer reviewed scientific papers published in reputable international journals.

I am OK with data sources such as the Office for National Statistics (though I am aware that exactly what is published can be influenced by political concerns), especially cross-referenced with other similar international sources with clear links to underlying data and collection methodology.

News stories from major news organisations - both broadcast and printed - are OK but a range from different political views is obviously more credible than a single source. So in the UK I would expect FT; Telegraph; BBC; Guardian; Times; ITV / Sky etc etc to report different angles of the same story and would find it most credible if all had the same basic facts with different interpretation.

If you can provide those, preferably a good range from across all of them, I'm happy to read them.

Peanutsandchilli · 20/08/2021 17:39

@SupermanWithTheGreyHair

I think it must depend on your area. My almost 18 year old has only just been offered it here.
Snap, my 17 year old just got a letter yesterday. Haven't heard anything about younger children.
ollyollyoxenfree · 20/08/2021 17:39

I can reference all I have posted and support it with live data.

Eagerly awaiting this "live" Grin data that demonstrates people are dying due to ADE triggered by the vaccines.

Also have my own wild conspiracy theory that @ilovecuddlydogs1000
is the new revamped @savethegrannies

ollyollyoxenfree · 20/08/2021 17:40

@herecomesthsun

And yes, apologies, no idea why this particular debate needs to happen on a thread about CV/CEV children accessing the vaccine in England.
Sonarl · 20/08/2021 17:47

Is it just Moderna they can get?

Can you explain the biological mecahnism of ADE please dogs?

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 20/08/2021 17:49

Meredusoleil I know that Pfizer was the only one licensed for 12 to 15 and that's what the JCVI have said to use. I think Moderna has been authorised by MHRA so that might get added.

Wellbythebloodyhell · 20/08/2021 17:52

@Meredusoleil

My CCG is offering Pfizer, no confirmation on number of doses yet, however 16-17yo who are CEV or live in an immuno suppressed family will be offered 2 vaccines, my inkling is 12-15yo will be the same (that is purely my own opinion not certainty)
Chocl8 · 20/08/2021 18:13

Eligible 12-15 are to have 2 Pfizer doses. NHS detail here www.england.nhs.uk/coronavirus/wp-content/uploads/sites/52/2021/08/C1384-Vaccinating-children-and-young-people-frequently-asked-questions.pdf

We are still waiting (DD severe neuro) and I will start chasing from 24th because we’re meant to hear by 23rd Aug.

Contact for families have been good on this topic:

underneaththeash · 20/08/2021 18:15

@ilovecuddlydogs1000 do you realise that everything you read on the internet isn’t true?

Youmeanyouvelostyourkey · 20/08/2021 18:20

Our surgery put out a Facebook post yesterday saying that they were texting/calling all those entitled to the jab and then put out a list of the dates we could get them. The main day for this is tomorrow when it's all day. Unfortunately they won't have had the time to contact everyone by then, (or anyone perhaps)

Seems daft to me. The other nearby location ( well 20 miles away) is a 2 hour window on Wednesday. I'm hoping we will have had the call by then otherwise we will miss that too.

BeauxRingarde · 20/08/2021 18:34

In Ireland 12-17 year olds are getting 2 doses of the Pfizer, same gar and dose as adults.
