Has anyone's child been offered the vaccine yet?

Same here Swirly. It doesn't surprise me sadly and when you read posts from some parents on these boards who will not be testing their kids it doesn't fill me with any confidence. I'm angry that vaccinations have not been offered in time.

I got a jab for dd3 (14) last Monday. I'd hassled the GP re how it was going to happen and they came back saying we could just go to the drop in vaccine centre. So we went along, taking dd2's CEV letter with. No issues, just showed that to the woman on the door. They did have to get the gp in charge of the session to do it as she's under 16. They said we should get called for the second one as kids in that group will get a second jab.if we haven't heard I plan to just take her to the drop in when we hit eight weeks.

It's disgraceful the way this has been messed up.

My daughter is getting her first one tomorrow, I pestered gp and was added to a drop in clinic as well

It was obvious it could not be done in the time that was given for it to be done but I bet they won't be announcing they haven't done it.

DS has finally managed to have one, three attempts and my arms look like I’ve gone three rounds with Tyson fury. Had to do the 15 minutes wait in the car with a volunteer waiting outside. He is also constipated as they placed the bowl of cotton wool next to his hand and he ate a handful. All avoided if the had got their act together and vaccinated at special schools before the end of term.

For those who were asking, GPs don’t have to take part in administering COVID vaccines. Quite a few came unstuck with the pressures, including lack of staff, involved with Phase 1 and 2 and have opted out of Phase 3. They get paid per vaccine (or vaccine course of 2).

DDs got jabbed this evening - all good so far. Does anyone know if they’ll be offered a second dose in this age group? I hope so?

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 01/09/2021 21:58

I know dd will Schulte so I think yes. It's only the 16/17 year olds getting one dose only.

Schulte · 02/09/2021 13:04

Thank you!

My GP group is now doing the vaccines but ds being one of the more awkward to deal with patients hasn't been invited yet. They said they are having to discuss how, when and ( slightly worryingly) if they can do it.

Well with the news the vaccine is being offered to all 12-15 year olds - ds is still waiting.

My 14 year old has just had hers, as she is immunocompromised. But DH forgot to ask whether the 12 - 15 year olds who are getting it due to health conditions - do they get one jab or two? Thanks if anyone can let me know.
